Carbon coated porous nickel phosphides nanoplates for highly efficient oxygen evolution reaction
Yu, Xin-Yao,Feng, Yi,Guan, Buyuan,(David) Lou, Xiong Wen,Paik, Ungyu The Royal Society of Chemistry 2016 Energy & environmental science Vol.9 No.4

Electrochemical splitting of water provides an attractive way to produce hydrogen fuel. Unfortunately, the efficient and large-scale H-2 production is still hindered by the sluggish kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at the anode side of a water electrolyzer. Starting from metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), we demonstrate a template-engaged strategy to transformNi-Ni Prussian blue analogue (PBA) nanoplates into porous carbon coated nickel phosphides nanoplates with mixed phases of Ni5P4 and Ni2P. For comparison, NiO and Ni(OH)(2) porous nanoplates with the similar morphology have also been synthesized from the same precursor. Benefitting from their structural merits and the in situ formed catalytically active oxidized nickel species, the as-derived nickel phosphides manifest excellent electrocatalytic activity for OER superior to NiO and Ni(OH)(2).

MED19 is a member of the Mediator that plays a key role in the activation and repression of signal transduction or the regulation of transcription in carcinomas. To tested the functional role of MED19 in human prostate cancer, we downregulated MED19 expression in prostate cancer cells (PC-3 and DU145) by lentivirus- mediated short hairpin (shRNA), and analyzed the effect of inhibition of MED19 on prostate cancer cell proliferation and tumorigenesis. The in vitro prostate cancer cell proliferation, colony formation, and in vivo tumor growth in nude mice xenografts was significantly reduced after the downregulation of MED19. Knock- down of MED19 caused S-phase arrest and induced apoptosis via modulation of Bid and Caspase 7. It was suggested that MED19 serves as a novel proliferation regulator that promotes growth of prostate cancer cells. [BMB reports 2011; 44(8): 547-552]

Yu, Zu-Hu,Zhang, Qiang,Wang, Ya-Dong,Chen, Jing,Jiang, Zhi-Mao,Shi, Min,Guo, Xin,Qin, Jie,Cui, Guang-Hui,Cai, Zhi-Ming,Gui, Yao-Ting,Lai, Yong-Qing Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.6
The aim of this study was to evaluate expression of COX-1 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and its prognostic value. mRNA of COX-1 was detected in 42 paired RCC and adjacent normal tissues with quantitative realtime polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Expression of COX-1 was also evaluated in 196 RCC sections and 91 adjacent normal tissues with immunohistochemistry. Statistical analysis was performed to assess COX-1 expression in RCC and its prognostic significance. The results of qRT-PCR showed mRNA levels of COX-1 in RCC tissues to be significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues (p < 0.001). Immunohistochemical assays also revealed COX-1 to be overexpressed in RCC tissues (p < 0.001). Statistical analysis demonstrated high expression of COX-1 was correlated with tumour size (p = 0.002), pathological stage (p = 0.003), TNM stage (p = 0.003, 0.007, 0.027, respectively), and tumour recurrence (p < 0.001). Survival analysis indicated patients with high expression of COX-1 had shorter survival time (p < 0.001), and COX-1 was an independent predictor. This is the first study to reveal overexpression of COX-1 in RRC and point to use as a prognostic marker in affected patients.
Production of syngas from dry reforming of bio-oil model compound in granulated blast furnace slag
Xin Yao,Qingbo Yu,Guowei Xu,Zhengri Han,Qin Qin 한국화학공학회 2019 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.36 No.5
The characterization of dry (CO2) reforming of bio-oil model compound (BMC) in granulated BF (blast furnace) slag for syngas production is presented in this study. The effects of temperature, CO2/C (the molar ratio of CO2 to C in the BMC), liquid hourly space velocity (LHSV) and granulated BF slag on the coke yield, combustible gas yield, syngas composition and lower heating value of the dry reforming process were investigated by fixed-bed experiments. The results indicated that using granulated BF slag as the heat carrier, temperature reaching 750 oC, CO2/C of 0.75 and LHSV of 0.45 h1 could be the optimal condition for the dry reforming process, where the combustible gas yield and lower heating value were up to 1.85L/g and 23.00 kJ/g, respectively. Granulated BF slag showed positive effects on the dry reforming process, promoting the combustible gas yield and lower heating value and increasing the compositions of H2 and CO. Granulated BF slag could be used as a superior heat carrier for the dry reforming of BMC.
An Analytical Solution for Voltage Stability Studies Incorporating Wind Power
Yu-Zhang Lin,Li-Bao Shi,Liang-Zhong Yao,Yi-Xin Ni,Shi-Yao Qin,Rui-Ming Wang,Jin-Ping Zhang 대한전기학회 2015 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.10 No.3
Voltage stability is one of the most critical security issues which has not yet been well resolved to date. In this paper, an analytical method called PQ plane analysis with consideration of the reactive power capability of wind turbine generator and the wake effect of wind farm is proposed for voltage stability study. Two voltage stability indices based on the proposed PQ plane analysis method incorporating the uncertainties of load-increasing direction and wind generation are designed and implemented. Cases studies are conducted to investigate the impacts of wind power incorporation with different control modes. Simulation results demonstrate that the constant voltage control based on reactive power capability significantly enhances voltage stability in comparison of the conventional constant power factor control. Some meaningful conclusions are obtained.

In this study, heterojunction photoelectric devices based ZnO nanowires were fabricated on p-Si substrate with and without single-layer graphene as insert layer. ZnO nanowires and graphene were prepared by hydrothermal method and chemical vapor deposition respectively. The efect of insert layer on the morphology of ZnO nanowires was very weak as can be seen from scanning electron microscope and X-ray difraction. Raman scattering showed that the graphene prepared was a singlelayer structure. The ultraviolet detection performance of photodetectors with single graphene insert layer was much better than that of photodetectors without single graphene insert layer. The ultraviolet irradiation sensitivity of photodetectors with single graphene insert layer was up to 1071 which was improved 7 times than that of photodetectors without single graphene insert layer. Moreover, photodetectors with single graphene insert layer had faster response time (1.02 s) and recovery time (0.34 s).
Adsorption Performance of Proteins to CM Sepharose FF and DEAE Sepharose FF Adsorbents
Yao, Shan-Jing,Guan, Yi-Xin,Yu, Li-Hua 한국화학공학회 2003 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.20 No.1
Adsorption equilibrium and kinetic were studied for the binding of proteins to CM Sepharose FF and DEAE Sepharose FF. The influence of temperature pH, viscosity, initial concentration and the volume of adsorbents on the adsorption characteristics was investigated in detail. The results showed that the isotherms of lysozyme to CM Sepharose FF were well described by a Langmuir-type correlation. The two phase resistance model describing the dynamic adsorption process of lysozyme, papain, BSA to CM Sepharose FF was presented, and the pore diffusion coefficients were determined by using this model and the dynamic adsorption data.

Zhang, Yu-Rong,Xu, Yong,Yang, Kuo,Liu, Ming,Wei, Dong,Zhang, Yao-Guang,Shi, Xiao-Hong,Wang, Jian-Ye,Yang, Fan,Wang, Xin,Liang, Si-Ying,Zhao, Cheng-Xiao,Wang, Fei,Chen, Xin,Sun, Liang,Zhu, Xiao-Quan,Zh Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.12
Background/Aim: Six prostate cancer (PCa) susceptibility loci were identified in a genome-wide association study (GWAS) in populations of European decent. However, the associations of these 6 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with PCa has remained tobe clarified in men in Northern China. This study aimed to explore the loci associated with PCa risk in a Northern Chinese population. Methods: Blood samples and clinical information of 289 PCa patients and 288 controls from Beijing and Tianjin were collected. All risk SNPs were genotyped using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-high resolution melting curve technology and gene sequencing. Associations between PCa and clinical covariates (age at diagnosis, prostate-specific antigen [PSA], Gleason score, tumor stage, and level of aggressiveness) and frequencies of alleles and genotypes of these SNPs were analyzed using genetic statistics. Results: Among the candidate SNPs, 11p15 (rs7127900, A) was associated with PCa risk (P = 0.02, odds ratio [OR] = 1.64, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.09-2.46). Genotypes showed differences between cases and controls on 11p15 (rs7127900, A), 11q13 (rs7931342, T), and HNF1B (rs4430796, A) (P = 0.03, P = 0.01, and P = 0.04, respectively). The genotype TG on 11q13 (rs7931342, T) was positively associated with an increased Gleason score (P = 0.04, OR = 2.15, 95% CI = 1.02-4.55). Patients carrying TG on 17q24 (rs1859962, G) were negatively associated with an increased body mass index (BMI) (P = 0.03, OR = 0.44, 95% CI = 0.21-0.92) while those with AG on HNF1B (rs4430796, A) were more likely to have PSA increase (P = 0.002). Conclusion: Our study suggests that 11p15 (rs7127900, A) could be a susceptibility locus associated with PCa in Northern Chinese. Genotype TG on 11q13 (rs7931342, T) could be related to an increased Gleason score, AG on HNF1B (rs4430796, A) could be associated with PSA increase, and TG on 17q24 (rs1859962, G) could be negatively associated with an increased BMI in Chinese men with PCa.
