본 연구는 흰쥐를 사용하여 Y-미로에서 동물의 기억부담을 최소화시키고, 또한 공간적 정보의 사용없이 단지 상대적 방향 전략만으로도 학습이 가능한 조건에서 해마손상의 효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 실험 1에서는 빛과 소리자극간의 단순변별학습을 시켰으며, 실험 2에서는 빛 또는 소리의 요소자극과 빛+소리의 복합자극의 형태화 변별학습을 시켰다. 실험 결과 단순변별과제에서는 해마손상집단도 통제집단과 마찬가지로 정상적인 변별학습이 가능하였으나, 형태화 변별과제에서는 해마손상군이 요소자극과 복합자극 간의 변별을 하지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 해마의 기능에 관한 구성연합이론의 관점에서 해석될 수 있었다. This study was an attempt to examine hippocampal lesion effets on the performance of configural discrimination task in the Y-maze. In experiment 1, the subjects were 16 naive male Sprague Dawley rats. Half of the animals were randomly assigned to hippocampal lesioned group, and the other to sham-operated control group. Two groups were trained in the simple discrimination task for five days. Hippocampal lesion group was able to learn simple discrimination task at a level similar to that of control group. In experiment 2, the subjects were 16 naive male Sprague Dawley rats. Half of the animals were randomly assigned to hippocampal lesioned group, and the other half to sham-operated control group. Two groups were trained in the configural discrimination task for seven days. In this task, control group was able to learn configural discrimination but hippocampal group was not. Cognitive mapping theory and working memory theory were difficult to explain the results because these tasks were required taxon system and reference memory. These results might be interpreted by the configural association theory of Sutherland and Rudy(1989).
한국인에서 다변성 D12S391 유전좌의 집단유전학적 연구

The hypervariable short tandem repeat(STR) locus D12S391 was investigated in a Korean population. A total of 14 alleles were detected by size under denaturing conditions in 517 unrelated individuals. To confirm all of the alleles detected in a Korean population, a total of 34 fragments were sequenced. Prior to allele designation, we constructed the allelic ladders containing 11 alleles sequenced in this study. Allele 18 is the most common with a frequency of 0.281 in Koreans, and one variant allele 19.3 which have been confirmed by sequencing, was detected. The observed heterozygosity, the power of discrimination (PD), and the mean exclusion chance (MEC) for the locus D12S392 is 0.781, 0.946 and 0.652 , respectively. No deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium was observed in a Korean population (p=0.557). In the 424 meioses in 105 Korean families confirmed using other 17 STR loci, no mutation was detected in locus D12S391. The STR locus D12S391system is useful both for the analysis identification and parternity.

Nowadays, importance of regional specific on-farm research is largely increased in order to reduce the feeding cost of cattle. For this project, three regional districts (Yeongam, Yeonggwang and Jangheung) were selected wherein the cultivation area of forage production were largely increased from 1,200 ('08) to 2,600 ㏊ ('09) in Yeongam, 1,001('08) to 1,925 ㏊ ('09) in Yeonggwang, and 1,300 ('08) to 2,820 ㏊ ('09) in Jangheung district. Among the forage species, Italian ryegrass (IRG) and forage barley were predominantly cultivated in these regions. On the other hand, rye, grassland and summer annual forages were cultivated very little in a manner of land area. The productivity of forage barley was slightly increased 21.5('06), 26.2('07), and 27.3 MT/㏊ ('08) as silage. The number of farm and cultivation area was also increased remarkably. The present research project will be conducted from 2009 to 2010. Forage production and utilization for reduction of feeding cost, and high quality of Hanwoo beef production will investigated, in a manner of cultivation of forage crops mainly IRG, forage barley, IRG+barley mixture and corn.
Development of transgenic cucumber expressing TPSP gene and morphological alterations

To develop transgenic cucumber tolerant to abiotic stress, a cotyledonary-node explants were co-cultivated with Agrobacterium tumefaciens (EHA101) carrying TPSP gene (pHC30-TPSP). After transfer to fresh medium every two week for eight weeks, putative transgenic plants were selected when shoots grown a length greater than 3 cm from the cotyledonary-node explants on selection medium supplemented with $5\;mgl^{-1}$ phospinotricin as selectable agent. The confirmation of transgenic cucumber was based on the Northern blot analysis. Thirty four shoots (5.2%) with resistance to phospinotricin were obtained from 660 explants inoculated. Of them, transformants were only confirmed from 11 plants (1.7%). Transgenic cucumber expressing TPSP gene was more synthesized at 3.8 times amounts of trehalose (0.014 mg g fresh $wt^{-1}$) than non-transformants (0.0037 mg g fresh $wt^{-1}$). However, all of transgenic plants showed abnormal morphology, including stunted growth (< height 15 cm), shrunken leaves, and sterility as compared with non-transgenic plants (> height 150 cm) under the same growth environment. These results lead us to speculate that the overproduction of trehalose was toxic for cucumber, even though that had known for rice as non-toxic.
