        Auxiliary Model-based Continuous Mixed p-norm Algorithm for Output-error Moving Average Systems Using the Multi-innovation Optimization

        This paper discusses the parameter estimation problems for the output-error moving average (OEMA) systems under stochastic environments. The estimation problems with unknown inner variables and unmeasurable noise terms existed in the information vector are solved by the auxiliary model framework. Meanwhile, the algorithms utilize the continues mixed p-norm (CMPN) method to control the proportions of the error norms, which take into account each p-norm of errors for 1 6 p 6 2. To improve the identification accuracy further, a multiinnovation CMPN optimization algorithm is developed by expanding the scalar innovation to the innovation vector. The proposed optimal algorithms offer faster tracking speed and can obtain higher parameter estimation accuracy for both stochastic white noise and α-stable noise. Two examples of identification of OEMA systems are given to validate the theoretical analysis.

        Selecting the Optimal Hidden Layer of Extreme Learning Machine Using Multiple Kernel Learning

        Extreme learning machine (ELM) is emerging as a powerful machine learning method in a variety of application scenarios due to its promising advantages of high accuracy, fast learning speed and easy of implementation. However, how to select the optimal hidden layer of ELM is still an open question in the ELM community. Basically, the number of hidden layer nodes is a sensitive hyperparameter that significantly affects the performance of ELM. To address this challenging problem, we propose to adopt multiple kernel learning (MKL) to design a multi-hidden-layer-kernel ELM (MHLK-ELM). Specifically, we first integrate kernel functions with random feature mapping of ELM to design a hidden-layer-kernel ELM (HLK-ELM), which serves as the base of MHLK-ELM. Then, we utilize the MKL method to propose two versions of MHLK-ELMs, called sparse and non-sparse MHLK-ELMs. Both two types of MHLK-ELMs can effectively find out the optimal linear combination of multiple HLK-ELMs for different classification and regression problems. Experimental results on seven data sets, among which three data sets are relevant to classification and four ones are relevant to regression, demonstrate that the proposed MHLK-ELM achieves superior performance compared with conventional ELM and basic HLK-ELM.

        Robust Gradient Estimation Algorithm for a Stochastic System with Colored Noise

        This paper studies the parameter estimation algorithms of a finite impulse response system with colored noise. To suppress the negative effects of the colored noises, a novel gradient-based algorithm is developed by means of the cost function of the continuous mixed p-norm (CMPN). It combines the p-norms for 1 6 p 6 2, which control the proportions of the error norms and generate an adjustable gain to adapt the data quality. Moreover, to improve the convergence rate, a CMPN multi-innovation gradient recursive algorithm is derived through expanding the innovation scalar to the innovation vector. Finally, two examples are given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithms.

        Facile and controllable synthesis of nitrogen self-doped chitosan-derived carbon for high-performance Li-ion batteries

        N-doping content and configurations have a significant effect on the electrochemical performance of carbon anodes. Herein, we proposed a simple method to synthesize highly N self-doped chitosan-derived carbon with controllable N-doping types by introducing 2ZnCO3·3Zn(OH)2 into the precursor. The as-synthesized NC-CS/2ZnCO3·3Zn(OH)2 electrode exhibited more than twice the reversible capacity (518 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles at 200 mA g−1) compared to the NC-CS electrode, superior rate performance and outstanding cycling stability. The remarkable improvement should be mainly attributed to the increase of N-doping content (particularly the pyrrolic-N content), which provided more active sites and favored Li+ diffusion kinetics. This study develops a cost-effective and facile synthesis route to fabricate high-performance N self-doped carbon with tunable doping sites for rechargeable battery applications.

        Surface-Displayed Porcine IFN-λ3 in Lactobacillus plantarum Inhibits Porcine Enteric Coronavirus Infection of Porcine Intestinal Epithelial Cells

        Interferon (IFN)-λ plays an essential role in mucosal cells which exhibit strong antiviral activity. Lactobacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) has substantial application potential in the food and medical industries because of its probiotic properties. Alphacoronaviruses, especially porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) and transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), cause high morbidity and mortality in piglets resulting in economic loss. Co-infection by these two viruses is becoming increasingly frequent. Therefore, it is particularly important to develop a new drug to prevent diarrhea infected with mixed viruses in piglets. In this study, we first constructed an anchored expression vector with CWA (C-terminal cell wall anchor) on L. plantarum. Second, we constructed two recombinant L. plantarum strains that anchored IFN-λ3 via pgsA (N-terminal transmembrane anchor) and CWA. Third, we demonstrated that both recombinant strains possess strong antiviral effects against coronavirus infection in the intestinal porcine epithelial cell line J2 (IPEC-J2). However, recombinant L. plantarum with the CWA anchor exhibited a more powerful antiviral effect than recombinant L. plantarum with pgsA. Consistent with this finding, Lb.plantarum-pSIP-409-IFN- λ3-CWA enhanced the expression levels of IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs) (ISG15, OASL, and Mx1) in IPEC-J2 cells more than did recombinant Lb.plantarum-pSIP-409-pgsA'-IFN-λ3. Our study verifies that recombinant L. plantarum inhibits PEDV and TGEV infection in IPEC-J2 cells, which may offer great potential for use as a novel oral antiviral agent in therapeutic applications for combating porcine epidemic diarrhea and transmissible gastroenteritis. This study is the first to show that recombinant L. plantarum suppresses PEDV and TGEV infection of IPEC-J2 cells.

        Effects of molecular structure of polymeric surfactant on its physico-chemical properties, percolation and enhanced oil recovery

        Polymeric surfactant can simultaneously thicken aquous phase and reduce water–oil interfacial tension(IFT), which makes it present a great application prospect in the oilfield taword enhanced oil recovery(EOR). There are two kinds of polymeric surfactant with different molecular structures are commonlyused to realize the salt resistance, thermal endurance and shear resistance. However, the influence ofthe molecular structure of polymeric surfactant on their properties related on EOR are not well understood. In the work, we synthesized two kinds of polymeric surfactants with different molecular structurewhich respectively named intermolecular association molecule (IAM) and rigid chain molecule (RCM). Their physico-chemical properties, porous media transportation and EOR are compared with a series ofexperiments. It is found that the hydrodynamic characteristic sizes and retention of IAM are higher thanthose of RCM via the membrane filtration test and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) scan. These featuresmake IAM have a larger resistance factor and residual resistance factor than RCM and hydrolyzedpolyacrylamide (HPAM) in the same viscosity. Compare to HPAM with shear thinning, RCM presents aNewtonian fluid region and IAM presents a shear thickening region when the shear rate is lower than1 s 1. The spatial structure of IAM can pack oil drop into its network, which make it easy to form oilin-water-in-oil (O/W/O) emulsions. Moreover, the concentration and water–oil ratio (WOR) rarely affectthe stability of IAM emulsions once the intermolecular association generated. The increamental oil recoveryfactor of IAM is 17.5% after water flooding in the three-layer core flooding experiments with the permeabilityof 500 mD, 1500 mD and 3000 mD at 55℃, which is higher than that of 14.5% for RCM and11.4% for HPAM.

        Description of Corynebacterium poyangense sp. nov., isolated from the feces of the greater white-fronted geese (Anser albifrons)

        Two novel Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, and short rods to coccoid strains were isolated from the feces of the greater white-fronted geese (Anser albifrons) at Poyang Lake. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of strains 4H37-19T and 3HC-13 shared highest identity to that of Corynebacterium uropygiale Iso10T (97.8%). Phylogenetic and phylogenomic analyses indicated that strains 4H37-19T and 3HC-13 formed an independent clade within genus Corynebacterium and clustered with Corynebacterium uropygiale Iso10T. The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization value between strains 4H37-19T and 3HC-13 and members within genus Corynebacterium were all below 95% and 70%, respectively. The genomic G + C content of strains 4H37-19T and 3HC-13 was 52.5%. Diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), phosphatidylinositol (PI), phosphatidylcholine, and phosphatidyl inositol mannosides (PIM) were the major polar lipids, with C18:1ω9c, C16:0, and C18:0 as the major fatty acids, and MK-8 (H4), MK-8(H2), and MK-9(H2) as the predominant respiratory quinones. The major whole cell sugar was arabinose, and the cell wall included mycolic acids. The cell wall peptidoglycan contained meso-diaminopimelic acid (meso-DAP). The polyphasic taxonomic data shows that these two strains represent a novel species of the genus Corynebacterium, for which the name Corynebacterium poyangense sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Corynebacterium poyangense is 4H37-19T (=GDMCC 1.1738T = KACC 21671T).

        Transceiver Optimization for the Multi-Antenna Downlink in MIMO Cognitive System

        Transceiver optimization in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) cognitive systems is studied in this paper. The joint transceiver beamformer design is introduced to minimize the transmit power at secondary base station (SBS) while simultaneously controlling the interference to primary users (PUs) and satisfying the secondary users (SUs) signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) based on the convex optimization method. Due to the limited cooperation between SBS and PUs, the channel state information (CSI) usually cannot be obtained perfectly at the SBS in cognitive system. In this study, both perfect and imperfect CSI scenarios are considered in the beamformer design, and the proposed method is robust to CSI error. Numerical results validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

        Production and Optimization of a Kiwi Pectin Methylesterase Inhibitor in Pichia pastoris GS115

        Gene sequence coding of a kiwi pectin methylesteraseinhibitor was optimized, synthesized, and expressedin Pichia pastoris GS115 based on P. pastoris preferredcodon usage. The expression level of the recombinantprotein (kwPMEI) increased by 89.74% after codonoptimization. Expression conditions of recombinant strainswere optimized. The highest production of kwPMEI wasachieved using 0.8% sorbitol (added every 24 h), 0.05%oleic acid (added at the beginning of induction), and 0.5%methanol (added every 12 h). kwPMEI was purified usingNi2+ chelating affinity chromatography and 17 mg of theprotein was harvested from 60 mL of a culture supernatant. Activity analysis showed that kwPMEI efficiently inhibitedthe activity of different plant PMEs. High expression levelsand purification of kwPMEI will promote applications infruit and vegetable juices.
