      • 家免를 利用한 PYROST®(Porous Hydroxyapatite)의 骨再生에 關한 實驗的 硏究

        PYROST® is a biocompatible porous matrix implantable as a bone graft substitute. This biomaterial has been used in a variety of experimental settings over the past years and more recently has been used in clinical applications for the filling of bone defects. Its use in human may help to eleminate the morbidity of autogenous bone graft donor sites and resorption of autogenous bone graft. We studied the new bone regeneration within a PYROST® block which were placed end to end in a subperiosteal pocket on the nasal dorsum of 1.8-2.0 ㎏ New Zealand white rabbit. En block specimen were harvested at 4, 8 and 12 weeks post onlay. These were then decalclfied, imbedded and sectioned in the sagittal plane. For the confirmation of bone regeneration within a PYROST® we used weighing the PYROST and light microscope. point-counting technique and fluorescent microscope. The results obtained were summarized as follow: 1. There was no volume change of PYROST® 2. The activation of osteoblasts and bone matrix were found at 4 weeks and matrix of lamellar pattern was found 12 weeks post onlay. 3. The quantity of the regenerated new bone within a PYROST® was increased at 12 weeks(3.2±2.1%) than 4 weeks(1.5± 1.8%).

      • 뇌경색증의 급성기에 발생한 변비에 대한 연구

        Objectives: The prevalence of constipation is high after stroke. Multiple factors such as long-term bed-ridden status, comorbidity, medical illnesses are combined in this condition. However, the change of bowel movement during the early stage of stroke remainsuncertain. Methods: Patients with first stroke who admitted in a single institute from 2008 to 2009 were reviewed retrospectively and 36 patients were enrolled. As a control group, 47 consecutive orthopedic patients needing bed rest without surgery in the same period were enrolled. Data of stroke associated factors, frequency of BM (bowel movement) during 5 weeks, use of gastrointestinal medications, and outcomes were collected from the medical records. Results: The cumulative incidence of decreased (<3/week) and severely decreased BM (<1/week) were 80.6% and 69.4% in stroke patients and 53.2% and 14.9% in control group (P<0.05). The cumulative incidence of increased BM (>3/day) was 38.9% in stroke and 14.9% in control group. In acute stroke, 58% of patient showed severely decreased BM in first week, and the proportion was rapidly decreased below 15% from second week. However, laxative use increased with hospital days. The occurrence of severely decreased BM in stroke patients was associated with National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS; P=0.004). Severely decreased BM was not associated with poor outcomes including death, morbidity, and stroke recurrence. Conclusion: Decreased BM is common in acute stroke. The occurrence of severely decreased BM is associated with NIHSS. However, the severe manifestation occurred mainly in the first week, and considered to be well controlled by laxatives.

      • 선천성 부신과형성증에 대한 17-hydroxyprogesterone 신생아 선별검사의 검사 시약에 따른 참고치 설정

        Background & object : Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is difficult to detect in early stages. Failure to diagnose it in the initial state may lead to life-threatening adrenal crisis, inappropriate male sex assignment in the genetic female, acceleration of skeletal maturation and subsequent short stature. The importance of the neonatal screening test is being emphasized, but the reference values different according to laboratories and test reagents. The object of this study is to set appropriate reference ranges of 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) neonatal screening test for congenital adrenal hyperplasia according to the test reagents and analyze reference range applied in each laboratory. Methods : Neonatal screening test was performed by enzyme immunoassay for 17-OHP using the collected dry bloods drawn out the capillaries of 500 neonate heels from 48 hours after birth to 1 week, for which the mass screening tests on inborn errors of metabolism were requested from January 2003 to August 2003 at the Soonchunhyang University Hospital. The measurement of 17-OHP was performed by ICN Neoscreen ELISA 17a-hydroxyprogesterone kit (ICN Pharmaceuticals. Inc., USA), Enzaplate 17-OHP kit (Bayer Diagnostic Ltd., Japan) and Microplate Neonatal 17-OHP kit (Bio-Rad Laboratories, USA). Reference values of 17-OHP neonatal screening test according to the test reagents were analyzed in the 500 newborns. Results : The mean value ± standard deviation (SD) of 17-OHP using ICN, Bayer and Bio-Rad reagents were 8.14±5.33 ng/mL, 4.74±2.00 ng/mL and 1.80±1.82 ng/mL, respectively. The mean value of 17-OHP was significantly different between test reagents (P<0.05). The 99% & mean±3SD reference ranges of 17-OHP using ICN, Bayer and Bio-Rad reagents were 0-22.99 & 0-24.13 ng/mL, 0-12.30 & 0-10.74 ng/mL and 0-7.85 & 7.22 ng/mL, respectively. Although same test reagents were used in laboratories, the applied reference ranges were various. Conclusions : The reference ranges of 17-OHP neonatal screening test for congenital adrenal hyperplasia were various according to laboratories and test reagents. It is better to establish an appropriate reference range of each reagent under the intensive quality control.

      • 전기화학적 방법을 이용한 저온형 연료전지용 고분산 Pt 촉매의 제조

        Pt was deposited on carbon support by chronoamperometry. The catalytic activity for methanol oxidation was checked by CV (cyclic voltammetry) method. The amount of Pt loading was calculated by integration of I-t curve obtaining the total current used for the Pt deposition. The ECA (electrochemical active surface area) for loaded Pt was calculated from the hydrogen adsorption/desorption peaks in 0.5 M H₂SO₄solution. Pt was deposited on clean carbon electrode surface with various concentration of Pt solution (0.1 mM) was used. As the concentration of Pt increased, the specific catalystic activity of Pt decreased suggesting that, in the electrochemical reaction of Pt ion with electrode surface, Pt particles were smaller and more dispersed in low concentration of Pt solution. With this condition (0.1 mM Pt), Pt was electrodeposited on a commercial carbon support, Vulcan XC-72. Electrochemically loaded Pt catalyst had the higher ECA, and showed higher specific catalytic activity for mathanol oxidation than a commercial Pt/C catalyst.

      • 전자식 ballast의 시험용 의사부하에 관한 연구

        형광들을 점등시키는 안정기의 역할은 형광등과 같이 부저항특성을 갖는 방전등에 과전류가 유입되어, 파괴되지 않도록 일정전압 및 전류를 유지시켜주는 것이다. 최근 사용되고 있는 전자식안정기는 25-30KHz의 주파수를 사용, 캐패시터에 의한 안정화전류를 유도하고 있다. 그러나 전자식안정기는 고주파를 사용하는 관계로 제품의 품질보증을 위한 제반 규정이 까다로워 생산자는 개개의 안정기를 실제 형광등을 사용하여 특성검사를 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전자식안정기 특성검사의 효율성을 제고하기 위해 실제 형광등과 동일한 특성을 갖는 의사부하의 설계에 관하여 연구하였다. 초기의 과도 조건을 고려하지 않는 정전압 특성을 갖는 의사부하를 설계하여 실험한 결과 제한된 조건하에서 사용될 수 있음을 확인하였다. The electronic ballast has a role of taking a stable current of fluorescent lamp, which has a characteristics of negative resistance. Recently, it has been designed and operated on using the regulated constant current with capacitor and high frequency of 25 to 30KHz. But a fabricated electronic ballast in an assembly line was difficult to test, because it used a high frequency and needed strict provisions. And then manufacturer is now testing each ballast with a real fluorescent lamp. In this paper, we studied that real lamp can be replaced by a dummy load with the same characteristics.

      • Ca^(2+)-감수성 증가기전과 평활근 수축

        Smooth muscle contraction is regulated by intracellular Ca^(2+) ([Ca^(2+)]_(i)) and the phosphorylation of myosin light chain (MLC). However, various kinds of vasoconstrictors induce a further contraction at a given [Ca^(2+)]_(i), and elicit a sustained contraction under Ca^(2+) -depleted conditions, referred to as "Ca^(2+) -sensitization", in intact and membrane-pen-neabilized smooth muscle. Previously, several molecules, including protein kinase C (PKC), RhoA, and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK), have been suggested as candidate regulators of Ca^(2+) -sensitization. In the present review, we describe the role of PKC, RhoA, and MAPK in the regulation of Ca^(2+) -sensitization, and suggest a new model in research for the regulation of smooth muscle contraction.
