        Hyperbranched Double HydrophilicBlock Copolymer Micellesof Poly(ethylene oxide) and Polyglycerol for pH-Responsive Drug Delivery

        <P>We report the synthesis of a well-defined hyperbrancheddoublehydrophilic block copolymer of poly(ethylene oxide)-<I>hyperbranched</I>-polyglycerol (PEO-<I>hb</I>-PG) to develop an efficientdrug delivery system. In specific, we demonstrate the hyperbranchedPEO-<I>hb</I>-PG can form a self-assembled micellar structureon conjugation with the hydrophobic anticancer agent doxorubicin,which is linked to the polymer by pH-sensitive hydrazone bonds, resultingin a pH-responsive controlled release of doxorubicin. Dynamic lightscattering, atomic force microscopy, and transmission electron microscopydemonstrated successful formation of the spherical core–shelltype micelles with an average size of about 200 nm. Moreover, thepH-responsive release of doxorubicin and in vitro cytotoxicity studiesrevealed the controlled stimuli-responsive drug delivery system desirablefor enhanced efficiency.         Deficiency of sterol regulatory element‐binding protein‐1c induces schizophrenia‐like behavior in mice

        <P>Schizophrenia is a hereditary disease that approximately 1% of the worldwide population develops. Many studies have investigated possible underlying genes related to schizophrenia. Recently, clinical studies suggested sterol regulatory element‐binding protein (SREBP) as a susceptibility gene in patients with schizophrenia. SREBP controls cellular lipid homeostasis by three isoforms: SREBP‐1a, SREBP‐1c and SREBP‐2. This study used SREBP‐1c knockout (KO) mice to examine whether a deficiency in SREBP‐1c would affect their emotional and psychiatric behaviors. Altered mRNA expression in genes downstream from SREBP‐1c was confirmed in the brains of SREBP‐1c KO mice. Schizophrenia‐like behavior, including hyperactivity during the dark phase, depressive‐like behavior, aggressive behavior and deficits in social interaction and prepulse inhibition, was observed in SREBP‐1c KO mice. Furthermore, increased volume of the lateral ventricle was detected in SREBP‐1c KO mice. The mRNA levels of several γ‐aminobutyric acid (GABA)‐receptor subtypes and/or glutamic acid decarboxylase 65/67 decreased in the hippocampus and medial prefrontal cortex of SREBP‐1c KO mice. Thus, SREBP‐1c deficiency may contribute to enlargement of the lateral ventricle and development of schizophrenia‐like behaviors and be associated with altered GABAergic transmission.</P>

        국내 출시 마스크의 바이오에어로졸 여과효율 평가

        Background: The recent COVID-19 pandemic is one of the worst disease outbreaks of the 21th century. Due to a lack of reliable antiviral therapeutics, wearing face masks is recommended to prevent airborne infection originating from virus-contaminated bioaerosols. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the filtration efficiencies of face masks that are commercially available in South Korea for a biological aerosol of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and murine coronavirus, a well-known surrogate for human coronaviruses. Methods: We collected six different kinds of commercial masks: two Korea Filter (KF)94 (KF94-1, KF94-2) masks, one surgical (Surgical-1) mask, one anti-droplet (KF-AD-1) mask, and two dust (Dust-1, Dust-2) face masks. S. aureus (ATCC 6538), a well-performing test bacteria and murine coronavirus (ATCC VR-764) were prepared under a suitable culture condition. Then, a mask biological filtration tester was used to examine the microbial filtration efficiencies of masks. Test microorganisms were quantitatively measured via cultivation methods and microbial filtration efficiencies were calculated appropriately. Results: All face masks showed over 99.6% filtration efficiency for S. aureus or murine coronavirus. There were no significant differences among the bacterial filtration efficiencies of the face masks. KF94-1 (99.97±0.08%) and Dust-1 mask (99.97±0.07%) showed the highest (over 99.9%) filtration efficiency for murine coronavirus. KF94-1 or Dust-1 masks showed a significant virus filtration efficiency compared to Surgical-1 mask (p<0.05; Mann-Whitney U test). Conclusions: All the commercially available face masks used in this study can filter S. aureus or murine coronavirus in bioaerosols efficiently, regardless of the mask type. Therefore, our results suggest that wearing a certified face mask is a reliable means to prevent the transmission of infectious airborne diseases via biological aerosols.

        멀티-메가 건설프로젝트의 목적형 건설관리모델 제안

        본 연구는 2018 평창 동계올림픽 시설공사 프로젝트와 같이 국가적이고 대규모적인 멀티-메가 건설사업이 성공을 위하여 여러 분산된 장소에서 동시다발적으로 진행될 때 이를 효율적으로 관리하기 위한 새로운 건설사업 관리 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 이에 먼저 올림픽에 대하여 고찰하고, 올림픽 유산의 중요성과 그 활용의 성공 및 실패사례를 고찰한다. 특히, 올림픽 유산 중에서도 경기장 및 부속시설의 건립은 막대한 국가재정과 지자체의 자원이 투입되며, 올림픽 사후에 그 운영이 항상 문제가 되어 왔으므로 이에 대한 사례를 발판으로 삼아 이를 건설사업 사전에 반영할 수 있는 방안을 고찰하도록 한다. 이를 바탕으로 건설관리기술인 PM, FM, SM기술의 융합 모델을 제시한다. 즉, 각각의 관리기술을 금고의 다이얼적으로 조합하고 이를 각 건설사업에 적용하여 핵심적인 이슈인 주제를 선정 후 집중관리하는 모델을 제시한다. 이는 통하여 복잡한 관리의 대상과 항목 들을 효율화시키고 단순화하여 멀티-메가 건설 프로젝트의 성공적인 운영을 도모할 수 있다. 이를 목적형 건설사업관리 모델이라 명명하며, 평창 동계올림픽의 사례로 그 활용가능성을 제시한다. In this study, we suggest a kind of new paradigm and model in construction management technology about the national multi-mega projects which was constructed in nationwide and simultaneously such as 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic venue construction projects. We have reviewed on the Olympic games and system on the point of view of the importance of Olympic legacy in maintenance after that. And there has been tremendous exhaustion of national and local government resources onto the Olympic venue construction projects. Therefore we should preconsider about the post-maintenance strategy on those projects. That is, we converge the three main management technology, project management, facility management and subject-oriented management into the orienting construction management (OCM) model just as a safe dialing. Then, we adopted the case of 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic venue construction project on the OCM model which is shaped like circulating safe dial to check the adaptability of the newly suggesting model in this study. It is some kind of blended technology in construction management, which could be a kind of efficient and simplifying method on the multi-mega project management area to give a chance of the successful construction project.

        한의학 기반 반려동물용 치료기술 개발 관련 특허 분석

        Objective : In this study, we conducted to analysis the patents about Korean medicine based treatment technology for pet. Methods : We collected the Korean, Japan, USA, China, EU and PCT patent for the Korean medicine-based treatment technology for pet using WIPSON data base registered by October 4, 2020 were selected. Results : Patents for the development of pet Korean medicine-based treatment technology have been constantly applied since the mid-2000s, starting in 1990, with a total of 84 applications. The number of patent applications filed in Korea was the largest, after Japan and China. The detailed composition of the applications reported until now is pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of pet were the most applied with 39%(33 cases), followed by feed used as stocks for pet at 36%(30 cases). According to the patent application rate by disease, most of applications rate composed to be associated with immunity in 2009 to 2013 with 40% of applications. In 2014 to 2018 43% of patent applications are associated with gastrointestinal/digestive system. In this regard, multiple applications were filed in the order of immunity, digestive system, obesity and urinary system. Conclusion : This study analyzed the trend of 84 patents about Korean medicine-based treatment technology for pet to date to establish the basis for future research and development. There were many applications related to immunity from 2009 to 2013, and since then, related to digestive disease from 2014 to 2018.

        학습자들의 능동적 참여를 위한 중학교 가정과 의생활 영역 수업 모듈 연구

        본 연구는 학습자의 능동적인 참여를 위해 2015 개정 가정과 교육과정의 의생활영역을 중점으로 하여 학습자 중심을 기반으로 한 수업 모듈을 개발하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 연구 목적에 부합하는 합리적 가치결과를 얻기 위해 계획, 분석, 설계 및 개발, 평가, 개선의 단계로 수행하였다. 먼저, 계획 단계에서는 학습자 중심을 기반으로 한 수업 모듈 연구를 위해 중학교 가정 교과의 의생활 관련 단원 분석과 수업 모듈 개발이라는 연구 내용 및 범위를 선정하였다. 분석 단계에서는 의생활교육의 역사적 배경을 포함한 선행연구와 이론적 고찰 및 활동과제를 추출하여 분석하였다. 설계 및 개발 단계에서는 분석한 결과를 바탕으로 의생활 단원의 ‘옷차림과 의복 마련’내용요소를 학습할 수 있도록 학습자 중심을 기반으로 한 수업 모형을 적용한 총 10차시의 수업 모듈을 개발하였다. 평가 단계에서는 설정한 평가항목을 활용하여 타당도 평가를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 시사점은 중학생을 대상으로 학습자 중심의 의생활 수업 모듈 개발을 통하여 학생들의 능동적인 수업 참여를 높여 올바른 의생활을 영위하며, 의생활 교육을 위해 다양한 학습자 중심의 모형과 활동을 적용한 수업모듈이 현장 교사들과 교육과정 개발자에게 유익한 자료로 활용되고, 나아가 앞으로 교육 현장에서 학습자 중심의 의생활 수업 모듈의 설계가 확대되어야 한다는 결론을 시사한다. For the active participation of learners, the purpose of this study was to develop a learner-centered instruction module, focusing on the clothing life domain of the 2015 revised home economics curriculum. In order to achieve reasonable value results consistent with the purpose of the study, the study was conducted in the stages of planning, analysis, design and development, evaluation, and improvement. First, at the plan stage, the contents and scope of the study including the achievement criteria and content system of the clothing life unit for middle school students were set. Second, in the analysis stage, the historical background of clothing life education and theories on learner-centered education were examined and a total of 210 activity tasks were extracted and analyzed. Third, in the design and development stage, based on the analysis contents, a total of 10-session instruction module was developed to apply the learner-centered instruction model for the dressing and clothing content elements of the clothing life unit. Fourth, in the evaluation stage, the validity evaluation using the set evaluation items was carried out. The study attempted to raise the students active participation in class so that they can have a proper clothing life. Also, it is hoped that the instruction module, which employed various learner-centered models and activities for the clothing life education, would be used as a useful material for in-service teachers and curriculum developers, and further, the design of learner-centered clothing life instruction modules would be expanded in the field of education.

        Evaluation of the Efficacy of Zoledronic Acid and Amifostine on Radiation-induced Bone Loss in Mice

        Background: This study investigated the effects of zoledronic acid (ZA) on radiation-induced bone loss in C3H/HeN mice. Materials and Methods: C3H/HeN mice were divided into sham control and three irradiated groups (3 Gy, gamma ray). The irradiated mice were treated for 12 weeks with vehicle, amifostine (intraperitoneal injection), or ZA (subcutaneous injection). Grip strength, uterus weight, and serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) levels were measured. Tibiae were analyzed using micro-computed tomography. Results and Discussion: Treatment of ZA ($100{\mu}g{\cdot}kg^{-1}{\cdot}week^{-1}$) significantly preserved trabecular bone volume, trabecular thickness, trabecular number, trabecular separation, bone mineral density of proximal tibia metaphysic, and cortical bone volume, but did not alter the uterus weight of the mice. The administration of ZA for 12 weeks lowered serum ALP and TRAP levels in irradiated mice, suggesting that ZA can reduce the bone turnover rate in mice. No differences were apparent between the amifostine-treated group and the irradiation control group. Conclusion: The results indicate that ZA can prevent radiation-induced bone loss in mice.
