        가스상 대기오염물질에 의한 종이 기록물의 가속열화 특성 연구

        Paper records were generally degraded by some factors from atmospheric environments, like temperature, relative humidity or air pollutants. In this study, the degradation behavior of paper records by single or mixed gases of NO₂, SO₂, HCHO and TVOC was evaluated. The mechanical, optical and chemical properties of 4 kinds of paper (acid and neutral-based printing paper, traditional Hanji, and filter paper) were directly and indirectly affected by gaseous harmful materials. The brightness and L<SUP>*</SUP> value in all papers were slightly increased by accelerated aging under gaseous HCHO and TVOCs, but highly decreased by conditions under gases NO₂ and SO₂. The optical properties of paper records were most vulnerable in acid-based paper and high stable in filter paper and traditional Hanji by air pollutant degradation. The aging treatments under mixed gas pollutants including NO₂ resulted in decrease of physical, mechanical and optical properties of paper, so it was supposed that the concentration of NO₂ gas would be strictly controlled for optimum indoor air quality management in domestic storage centers for paper records.

        충남대학교 학술림 산책로 훼손실태 및 관리방안에 관한 연구

        This study concentrates an the trail of the CNU(Chungnam National University) forest. The amount of use and the pattern of damage are considered, as well as the extent of environmental damage. Finally, some managerial strategies are proposed in connection with sustainable maintenance. The trail of the university forest is composed of three sections; one is the neighborhood park and the Institute of Information Technology/Communications, the second is the Institute of Information Technology/Communications and the Dormitory, and the third section is the Dormitory and the Foreign prof's Apt. The total length of the trail is 2.6km. The daily amount of use is 1,269 visitors per day. The amount of using increased three times the amount of that in 1998. This study shows the pattern of damage of the trail in the order of root-exposure, widening, rock-exposure, deepening and the divergence in the frequency of occurrence of all these factors. Environmental damage is also graded thus: grade 3 is 27.4m, grade 4 is 0.8m, grade 5 is 1.5m, and grade 6 is 0.2m. Accordingly, some managerial strategies were proposed in connection with the sustainable trail maintenance.

        Since the swash plate type axial piston pump/motor utilizes hydrostatic bearings between the surfaces of fixed and moving parts in the design. it becomes not only high pressurized but also high efficient, and it is thus used in many fields that require the high speed and the high power per unit weight - mobility equipments, concrete mixer drums, tractors. military products etc. The swash plate type axial piston pump/motor is characterized by high power per unit weight, power transmission, and easy operation. but relatively big power loss, and sensitivity to contaminated operating oil are taken into consideration disadvantages over others. With the design consisting of very precise and complicated parts its performance truly varies depending on manufacturing and assembly techniques in the production. In this study, analytical approaches and power loss mechanisms are proposed for the in-line integrated Hydrostatic Transmission(HST) with variable hydraulic piston pump and fixed hydraulic piston motor in order to improve performance. To this end, first, analytical model and characteristics on the piston show and shoe plate from basic theories in hydraulic pump/motor are presented, and volumetric and mechanical losses are further investigated.

        Brazilin was tested for its ability to inhibit alloxan induced lipidperoxidation. Lipid peroxide contents in liver, kidney and serum were measured by the TBA method. ICR mice receiving alloxan at a dose of 43mg/kg via the tail vein after a 24hrs starvation showed significantly increased lipid peroxide contents as compared to untreated control. Lipid peroxide contents in liver, kidney and serum of alloxan-induced diabetic mice were dose-dependently decreased by the treatment of brazilin at a dose of 10mg/kg, 50mg/kg, 100 mg/kg for 5 days.

      • Preparation and properties of new polyurethane gels with a stress-distributing function for medical applications

        <P>The purpose of this study is to prepare new polyurethane gels that can be used as stress- or pressure-distributing materials, particularly by being combined with selective plasticizers for medical or clinical applications. Because low-molecular-weight plasticizer molecules in polymer gels intrinsically tend to migrate to the surface of the gels by the so-called entropy effect in polymer miscibility, the stress-distributing function may decrease gradually after a certain amount of time. Correspondingly, both the chemical nature of the plasticizer and polymer gels and the compatibility between the polymer segments and plasticizer should be deliberately considered as important factors in determining the thermophysical properties and stress-distributing performance of polymer gels. New polyurethane gels comprising separated phases of soft and hard segments, the glass-transition temperature of which was around the ambient temperature, were prepared, and selective plasticizers were combined to obtain an optimized formulation of gels for stress-relieving properties. The glassy-to-rubbery transition of semicrystalline hard segments occurring around the ambient temperature caused the rearrangement of chain conformations, leading to the reduction of the pressure applied to the surface; this indicated that the pressure buildup or loss was somewhat related to the heat regulation by thermal absorption and release in the phase-transition range. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.         2.9% 과산화수소를 함유한 부착형 미백제의 임상적 효능과 안정성에 관한 연구

        2.9%의 과산화수소를 함유한 시험용 부착형 미백제(Medison dental whitening strip, Samsung medical Co.,Anyang,Korea)를 실험군 피험자 23명, 시험용 미백제에서 과산화수소를 제외한 동일한 제재를 대조약으로 대조군 피험자 24명에게 매일 1시간 30분씩, 2주간 적용하여 임상적 효능과 안전성을 평가하였다. 미백 효과는 Shade Vision, Chroma Mete 및 Vitapan classical shade guide를 이용하여 색변화를 측정하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 실험군에서의 전체 치아의 색변화량(ΔE^(*))은 세 가지 측정법에서 모두 대조군에 비해 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였고 (p < 0.05). 쉽게 인지할 수 있는 정도였다. 2. 색변화는 색좌표 상에서 명도의 증가와 녹색조 및 청색조로의 변화에 의해 얻어졌다. 3. 치아별로는 어두운 견치의 색변화량이 가장 컸고, 측절치, 중절치 순으로 감소하였다. 4. 47명의 피험자 중 5명이 경도의 과민증을 경험하였으나 곧 완화되었다, 치은염증지수와 전기치수검사 결과 시험 전후에 차이가 없어 안전성을 확인하였다. This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of an experimental bleaching strip (Medison dental whitening strip, Samsung medical Co., Anyang, Korea) containing 2.9% hydrogen peroxide. Twenty-three volunteers used the bleaching strips for one and a half hour daily for 2 weeks. As control group, the same strips in which hydrogen peroxide was not included were used by 24 volunteers with the same protocol. The shade chang (ΔE^(*), color differnce) of twelve anterior teeth was measured using Shade Vision (X-Rite Inc., S. W. Grandville, MI, USA), Chroma Meter (Minota Co., Ltd. Osaka, Japan) and Vitapan classical shade guide (Vita Zahnfabrik, Germany). The shade change of overall teeth in the experimental group was significantly greater than that in the control group (p < 0.05) and was easily perceivable. The change resulted from the increase of lightness (CIE L^(*) value) and the decrease of redness (CIE a^(*) value) and yellowness (CIE b^(*) value). The shade change of individual tooth was greatest in canine, can smallest in central incisor. The safety of the bleaching strip was also confirmed. 〔J Kor Acad Cons Dent 31(4):269-281, 2006〕

      • Comparison of gangliosides expression patterns between human adipose and dental pulp-derived mesenchymal stem cells differentiation into osteoblast

        Human adipose-derived stem cells (hADSCs) and dental pulp-derived stem cells (hDPSCs) have been considered alternative sources of adult stem cells because of their potential to trans-differentiate into multiple cell lineages. This study investigated the possible role of gangliosides in the osteoblast differentiation of hADSCs and hDPSCs. First, we investigated characterization of hADSCs and hDPSCs using FACS analysis. Mesenchymal stem cell specific markers, CD44 and CD105, were expressed but not hematopoetic markers, CD45 and CD117 in both of hADSCs and hDPSCs. High-performance thin-layer chromatography analysis showed that increased gangliosides were associated with differentiation of hADSCs and hDPSCs into osteoblasts. RT-PCR analysis confirmed that osteoblast specific genes, ALP, BMP-2, collagen were expressed in differentiated osteoblasts, however, the another osteoblast specific gene, osteocalcin, was not expressed. When hADSCs and hDPSCs were cultured under osteoblast- differentiation conditions, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity was increased in comparison to hADSCs and hDPSCs. Furthermore, specifically both ALP activity and ganglioside expression increased more in hDPSCs-derived osteoblasts than hADSCs-derived osteoblasts. These results suggest that gangliosides play a more important role in regulating the osteoblast-differentiation of hDPSCs compared to hADSCs.

      • Differential Expression Patterns of Gangliosides in Micro-pig solid organs

        Ganglioside are ubiquitous membrane component in mammalian cells and suggested to play important roles in various cell functions such as cell-cell recognition, differentiation and transmembrane signaling. These compounds are localized in a glycosphingolipid-enriched microdomain on the cell surface and regulated by the glycosphingolipid composition. However, the role that gangliosides play in immune rejection response by xenotransplantation is not yet clearly understood. In this study, differential expression patterens of gangliosides of Micro-Pig solid organs, which are heart, kidney, liver, pancreas and spleen. We examined expression level of high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) showed that all of solid organs contained GM3, GM2, GM1 and GD1a as major gangliosides. Especially, ganglioside GD1b expressed in liver and pancreas, not in heart, kidney and spleen. Also, GT1b expressed in liver, kidney and spleen, not in heart and pancreas. As a results suggest that differential expression patterens of gangliosides of Micro-Pig solid organs are related immune rejection response in xenotransplantation by biomarker.

In this study, differential expression patterens of gangliosides between human vein endothelial cells (ECV304) and micro-pig aortic endothelial cells (MPAECs, primary cultured) was investigated. we examined expression level of high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) showed that ECV304 cells contained GM3 and GM2 as major gangliosides. However, MPAECs contained only GM3 as major ganglioside. Furthermore, we confirmed that human serum induces cell death of MPAECs. As a results suggest that differential expression patterens of gangliosides of ECV304, MPAECs are related immune rejection response and cell death with xenogeneic serum in xenotransplantation by biomarker.
