In the fine blanking process, which is a press operation known for producing parts with narrow clearances and high precision through the application of high pressure, die roll often occurs during the shearing process when the punch penetrates the material. This die roll phenomenon can significantly reduce the functional surface of the parts, leading to decreased product performance, strength, and fatigue life. In this research, we conducted an in-depth analysis of the factors influencing die roll in the curvature area of the fine blanking process and identified its root causes. Subsequently, we designed and experimentally verified a die roll reduction process specifically tailored for the door latch manufacturing process. Our findings indicate that die roll tends to increase as the curvature radius decreases, primarily due to the heightened bending moment resulting from reduced shape width-length. Additionally, die roll is triggered by the absorption of initial punch energy by scrap material during the early shearing phase, resulting in lower speed compared to the product area. To mitigate the occurrence of die roll, we strategically selected the Shaving process and carefully determined the shaving direction and clearance area length. Our experiments demonstrated a promising trend of up to 75% reduction in die roll when applying the Shaving process in the opposite direction of pre-cutting, with the minimum die roll observed at a clearance area length of 0.2 mm. Furthermore, we successfully implemented this approach in the production of door latch products, confirming a significant reduction in die roll. This research contributes valuable insights and practical solutions for addressing die roll issues in fine blanking processes.

The piercing process of creating holes in sheet metals for mechanical fastening generates high shear force. Real-time monitoring technology could predict tool damage and product defects due to this severe condition, but there are few applications for piercing high-strength aluminum. In this study, we analyzed the load signal to predict the punch's wear level during the process with a piezoelectric sensor installed piercing tool. Experiments were conducted on Al6061 T6 with a thickness of 3.0 mm using piercing punches whose edge angle was controlled by reflecting the wear level. The piercing load increases proportionally with the level of tool wear. For example, the maximum piercing load of the wear-shaped punch with the tip angle controlled at 6 degrees increased by 14% compared to the normal-shaped punch under the typical clearance of 6.7% of the aluminum piercing tool. In addition, the tool wear level increased compression during the down-stroke, which is caused by lateral force due to the decrease in the diameter of pierced holes. Our study showed the predictability of the wear level of punches through the recognition of changes in characteristic elements of the load signal during the piercing process.

The recent increasing application rate of advanced high-strength steel(AHSS) for automotive parts makes it difficult to ensure the durability of forming tools. Significant load and friction generated during the piercing process of AHSS increase the wear rate and the damage degree to dies. These harsh process conditions also yield product failures, such as dimensional inconsistency of pierced holes and insufficient quality of hole's sheared edge. This study analyzed the effect of punch wear on the sheared surface of pierced parts and the forming load during the piercing process. Wear-shaped punches showed approximately 20% higher piercing load than normal-shaped punches, and the rollover ratio of the sheared surface also increased. It is considered that the dull edge of wear-shaped punches does not penetrate directly into the material but shears after tensioning it in a piercing direction. In addition, wear-shaped punches experienced compressive load even after completing the piercing process during the down-stroke and tensile load during the up-stroke. This load variation is related to the smaller diameter piercing holes produced by wear-shaped punches compared to normal-shaped punches. Thus, we demonstrated the predictability of the wear level of dies through a comparative analysis of the piercing load pattern.

As abnormal climates occur due to the increase in greenhouse gases at home and abroad, various problems such as human casualties, crop damage, energy depletion, and economic loss due to heat diseases, which are one of the extreme climate phenomena, are following one after another. In response, the government has established the ‘Climate Crisis Response Special Committee’ since 2018, when it recorded the greatest damage in history due to heat waves, and has been carrying out budget formation and reform of laws and systems every year to respond to heat waves. However, in relation to the heat wave damage reduction facility that is being expanded with a large budget, there is no prior research related to the degree of heat loss due to the use of the facility, the difference in effects between specific groups, and the economic effect that comes back compared to the invested budget. . Therefore, from a midto long-term perspective, it is expected that it will be difficult to establish a clear direction for policy making. Therefore, in this study, representative facilities were selected according to the principle of heat reduction among the currently expanded heat damage reduction facilities, and a questionnaire survey was conducted for users of each reduction facility (waterfall, awning, pond, and elastic pavement). Accordingly, the change in the sense of heat according to the use of the heat damage reduction facility was checked, and the change in the sense of heat according to the group characteristics (gender, age, metabolic rate) was analyzed to examine the characteristics of the relationship between the facility and the users.
