        Single Intramuscular-dose Toxicity of Water soluble Carthmi-Flos herbal acupuncture (WCF) in Sprague-Dawley Rats

        Objectives: This experiment was conducted to examine the toxicity of Water soluble Carthmi-Flos herbal acupuncture (WCF) by administering a single intramuscular dose of WCF in 6-week-old, male and female Sprague-Dawley rats and to find the lethality dose for WCF. Methods: The experiment was conducted at Biotoxtech according to Good Laboratory Practices under a request by the Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute. This experiment was performed based on the testing standards of "Toxicity Test Standards for Drugs" by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Subjects were divided into 4 groups: 1 control group in which normal saline was administered and 3 test groups in which 0.1, 0.5 or 1.0 mL of WCF was administered; a single intramuscular dose was injected into 5 males and 5 females in each group. General symptoms and body weights were observed/measured for 14 days after injection. At the end of the observation period, hematological and clinical chemistry tests were performed, followed by necropsy and histopathological examinations of the injected sections. Results: No mortalities were observed in any group. Also, symptoms, body weight, hematology, clinical chemistry and necropsy were not affected. However, histopathological examination of the injected part in one female in the 1.0-mL group showed infiltration of mononuclear cells and a multi-nucleated giant cell around eosinophilic material. Conclusion: Administration of single intramuscular doses of WCF in 3 groups of rats showed that the approximate lethal dose of WCF for all rats was in excess of 1.0 mL, as no mortalities were observed for injections up to and including 1.0 mL.

        A Study on the Radar Image Generation Method for Ship Handling Simulator

        This paper proposes a method for generating radar images used in a ship handling simulator, which includes mathematical logics based on radar equations and information from Openflight format files. In order to make radar image much similar to that of real radar in PPI type, the proposed mathematical logic derives radar video signals under the consideration of not only the data form flight format file of simulation scenes, but also geographical radar’s position. The proposed method is considered useful to make radar images in ship handling simulator with accuracy and reality.

        자폐 아동의 선호자극 선별을 위한 통합자극 로봇의 개발

        현대의 로봇은 인간과 소통하며 상호작용한다. 로봇과 인간의 좀 더 원활한 상호작용을 위하여 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이러한 연구는 자폐아동과 로봇에서도 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 로봇과 자폐아동의 상호작용을 위한 여러 연구에서 한정된 자극을 사용한다. 이러한 연구에서 좀 더 다양한 자극을 사용하거나 자폐 아동들이 선호하는 자극을 사용한다면 연구에 효율성이 증대 될 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 자폐 아동이 선호하는 자극을 선별할 수 있는 통합자극로봇을 제작하였다. 제작된 로봇의 외형은 장애아동이 관심을 가지는 인형의 외형으로 하였고 제작된 기기는 모두 2가지 형태를 가지고 있다. 제작된 기기는 개별적 또는 동시에 원격제어가 가능하며 탑재 가능한 자극의 수는 최대 120가지이다. 제작된 로봇을 가지고 D시에 위치한 장애전담 어린이집의 3명의 자폐아동을 대상으로 시각, 청각, 촉각 자극을 제공하고 그들의 반응을 관찰하는 실험을 하였다. 실험 결과 3명의 아동은 각자 선호하는 자극의 형태가 틀린 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이렇게 선별된 선호자극을 로봇과 자폐성 아동의 중재에 사용한다면 중재 시간을 단축시키고, 중재효과를 높이는 결과를 가져올 것이다. Modern robots communicate and interact with humans. For a smoother interaction between robots and humans, a lot of studies have been carried out. These studies are performed in the relationship between children with autism spectrum disorders and robots. However, limited stimuli are used in the various studies for the interactions between robots and children with autism spectrum disorders. Using more various stimuli or those preferred by the children will probably increase the efficiency of the studies. Thus, this study manufactured an integrated stimuli robot that can select the preferred stimuli of the children with autism spectrum disorders. The shape of the manufactured robot is one in which children with disabilities are interested: that of a doll, and the manufactured devices have two types. The manu factured devices can be remotely controlled both individually and simultaneously, and the number of the stimuli that can be mounted is up to 120 kinds. With the manufactured robot, for three children with autism at a center for children with disabilities in the city D., experiments were made to observe their responses to visual, auditory and tactile stimuli provided. As a result of the experiments, it was confirmed that each of the three children had different types of preferred stimuli. Using such preferred stimuli which were selected in this way will result in reducing the time of intervention in children and increasing the effect of the intervention.

        로봇을 이용한 장애아동 원격지원 시스템 구축

        교육과 치료를 위해 많을 시간을 투자하여야 하는 장애인들이 시간과 공간적 제약에서 벗어나 각종 서비스를 원하는 곳에서 원하는 시간에 받을 수 있다면 그들의 삶의 질은 향상될 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내 로봇기술과 통신 기술을 조합하여 장애아동에게 원격지원 중재가 가능한 로봇 원격지원 시스템을 구축하였으며, 구축된 시스템을 D시 장애 전담 어린이집 2곳과 K시 특수교육대학에 1곳에 설치하였다. 또한 구축된 시스템을 통한 중재 가능성을 알아보기 위하여 구축된 시스템을 사용하여 장애아동에게 원격지원 중재를 적용한 특수교육 전문가 8명을 대상으로 시스템의 기능별 만족도 조사 하였으며, 학령기 아동 6명 대상으로 구축된 시스템을 사용하여 대화를 통한 상호작용이 가능한지 알아보았다. 그 결과 전문가들은 대부분의 로봇원격지원 시스템의 기능에 대하여 5점 만점에 평점 3.5 이상으로 만족 하였으며, 대화를 통한 상호작용 또한 일반교사와 비교하여 차이가 나지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 시스템의 반응속도와 팔의 움직임, 안전에 관한 부분에서는 불만족한 의견을 나타내었다. 향후 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 여러 곳에 사용가능한 범용 시스템이 아니라 중재 분야별 필요기능만 탑재한 맞춤형 시스템을 제작하여야 할 것이다. The disabled must spend a lot of time on their education and treatment. If it is possible for them to break free from constraints of time and space and to receive each service no matter where or when, their quality of life will be improved. Thus, this study established a robot remote support system that can provide children with disabilities with remote support therapy by combining domestic robot technology and communications technology, and the established system was installed at the two exclusive nursery schools for disabled children in D City and one department of special education in K City. In addition, this study conducted a satisfaction survey with each function of the system targeting 8 special education professionals who applied the remote support intervention to the children with disabilities in order to confirm the intervention possibility by the established system, and experimented whether it was possible for the six school-age children to interact by using the established system. As a result, the professionals were satisfied with most functions of the robot remote support system giving more than 3.5 out of 5.0. It also showed that the interaction by conversation was not different from that of general teachers. However, they expressed a dissatisfactory opinion on the reaction velocity of the system, movement of the arm and its safety. Henceforth, these problems should be solved, and it will be necessary to create not a general-purpose system available for various uses but a customized system equipped with only necessary functions by intervention field.

        담도 협착에서 종양 특성과 솔질세포검사 순서에 따른 진단 정확도

        Background/Aims: There are few data supporting the diagnostic yield of brush cytology depending on the order of cytologic reparation method or the location or shape of tumors in biliary strictures. We investigated diagnostic yields and variations n brush cytology with direct smear and cell-block preparations according to sampling preparation sequence and tumor location nd shape in biliary strictures. ethods: Patients who had undergone ERCP with tissue sampling between August 2009 and April 2013 were analyzed etrospectively. Group A was examined using brush cytology with direct smear followed by cell-block with or without biopsy, hile the reverse order was performed for group B. esults: Among 138 enrolled patients, 92 patients (A: 36, B: 56) underwent both brush cytology with direct smear and cell-block reparations. No differences in sensitivity, specificity, or accuracy were observed according to the sampling preparation method nd the location or shape of tumors in biliary strictures. The cellularity observed from brush cytology with direct smear was etter than that from cell-block according to the location of the tumor (p<0.01). The diagnostic yield was increased in both roups with addition of an endobiliary biopsy. onclusions: No difference in diagnostic accuracy was observed between the sequences of preparation for brush cytology ith direct smear and cell-block techniques. Brush cytology showed better cellularity for diagnosis.
