Facile Synthesis of MoS2 Hierarchical Nanostructures as Electrodes for Capacitor with Enhanced Pseudocapacitive Property

        Shiting Luo,Limei Xu,Jinshan Li,Wenjing Yang,Minli Liu,Lin Ma 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2020 NANO Vol.15 No.02

In this work, the 3D porous hierarchical MoS2 nanostructures were prepared via a simple hydrothermal deposition method only utilizing titanium (Ti) mesh as a substrate. The as-synthesized uniform MoS2 flower-like nanostructures were assembled by nanosheets composed of several stacking layers. The curved and rough surface of cylindrical Ti wire was beneficial to assembly of MoS2 nanosheets into hierarchical architectures. Moreover, the electrochemical performance of the as-prepared MoS2 nanostructured electrodes for capacitors was also investigated. The structural advantages lead to a remarkably improved pseudocapacitive property including high capacitance and durable cycling ability.

Heterologous Expression of Recombinant Transglutaminase in Bacillus subtilis SCK6 with Optimized Signal Peptide and Codon, and Its Impact on Gelatin Properties

( Shiting Wang ),( Zhigang Yang ),( Zhenjiang Li ),( Yongqiang Tian ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2020 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.30 No.7

Microbial transglutaminases (MTGs) are widely used in the food industry. In this study, the MTG gene of Streptomyces sp. TYQ1024 was cloned and expressed in a food-grade bacterial strain, Bacillus subtilis SCK6. Extracellular activity of the MTG after codon and signal peptide (SP Ync M) optimization was 20 times that of the pre-optimized enzyme. After purification, the molecular weight of the MTG was 38 kDa and the specific activity was 63.75 U/mg. The optimal temperature and pH for the recombinant MTG activity were 50℃ and 8.0, respectively. MTG activity increased 1.42-fold in the presence of β-ME and 1.6-fold in the presence of DTT. Moreover, 18% sodium chloride still resulted in 83% enzyme activity, which showed good salt tolerance. Cross-linking gelatin with the MTG increased the strength of gelatin 1.67 times and increased the thermal denaturation temperature from 61.8 to 75.8℃. The MTG also significantly increased the strength and thermal stability of gelatin. These characteristics demonstrated the huge commercial potential of MTG, such as for applications in salted protein foods.

Distinct Dose-Dependent Association of Free Fatty Acids with Diabetes Development in Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Patients

        Fuxi Li,Junzhao Ye,Yanhong Sun,Yansong Lin,Tingfeng Wu,Congxiang Shao,Qianqian Ma,Xianhua Liao,Shiting Feng,Bihui Zhong 대한당뇨병학회 2021 Diabetes and Metabolism Journal Vol.45 No.3

Background: Excessive delivery of free fatty acids (FFAs) to the liver promotes steatosis and insulin resistance (IR), with IR defined as reduced glucose uptake, glycogen synthesis and anti-lipolysis stimulated by normal insulin levels. Whether the associations between FFAs and diabetes development differ between patients with and without nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) remains unclear. Methods: Consecutive subjects (2,220 NAFLD subjects and 1,790 non-NAFLD subjects according to ultrasound imaging) were enrolled from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University between 2009 and 2019. The homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated. Results: There was an approximate J-shaped relationship between FFA levels and HOMA-IR in the NAFLD group. Higher FFA concentration quartiles were associated with higher risks of IR (odds ratio [OR], 9.24; 95% confidence interval [CI], 6.43 to 13.36), prediabetes (OR, 10.48; 95% CI, 5.66 to 19.39), and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM; OR, 19.43; 95% CI, 12.75 to 29.81) in the NAFLD group but not in the non-NAFLD group. The cut-off points for the FFA levels increased in a stepwise manner in discriminating IR, prediabetes and T2DM (573, 697, and 715 μmol/L) in the NAFLD group but not in non-NAFLD individuals. Conclusion: A distinct dose-dependent relationship of FFA levels was found with IR, prediabetes and T2DM in NAFLD patients. Screening serum FFA levels in NAFLD patients would be valuable in preventing diabetes development.

Dominance-Based Service Selection Scheme with Concurrent Requests

Tang, Chaogang,Li, Qing,Xiong, Yan,Wen, Shiting,Liu, An,Zhong, Farong Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Eng 2012 Journal of Computing Science and Engineering Vol.6 No.2

In dynamic Web service environments, the performance of the Internet is unpredictable; the reliability and effectiveness of remote Web services are also unclear. Therefore, it can hardly be guaranteed that the quality of Web service (QoWS) attributes of Web services do not fluctuate with the dynamic Web service environments. When a composite service is planned in the context of dynamic service environments, there is another aspect which has not been taken into account by existing works, namely, concurrency - the fact that multiple requests to a composite service may arrive at the same time. Considering the dynamics of Web service environments and concurrency of requests, we propose in this paper a service selection scheme which adopts top-k dominating queries to generate a composition solution rather than only select the best composition solution for a given request. The experimental results have investigated the efficiency and effectiveness of our approach and shown that it outperforms baseline and traditional methods for service selection.

CT Findings of Intrarenal Yolk Sac Tumor with Tumor Thrombus Extending into the Inferior Vena Cava: A Case Report

        ShaoChun Lin,XueHua Li,CanHui Sun,ShiTing Feng,ZhenPeng Peng,SiYun Huang,ZiPing Li 대한영상의학회 2014 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.15 No.5

Yolk sac tumor (YST) is a rare germ cell neoplasm of childhood that usually arises from the testis or ovary. The rare cases of YST in various extragonadal locations have been reported, but the primary intrarenal YST is even more uncommon. Here, we report a case of a primary intrarenal YST with tumor thrombus of the inferior vena cava and left renal vein in a 2-year-old boy, with an emphasis on the CT features. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of an intrarenal YST with intravascular involvement.

The applications of flower-shaped ZnO-UHMWPE fibers in photocatalysis and composites

        Huixin Liu,Weiwei Li,Zhong Wu,Yilong Zhou,Kaiyuan Pei,Wenhu Song,Shiting Li,Jinfeng Zhang 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.125 No.-

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber is considered as one of the high-performancefibers. However, the inert surface of UHMWPE fiber limits its application in many fields. In order to optimizethe application of UHMWPE fibers in functional and composite fields, this work introduced a specialsurface structure of the UHMWPE fibers. The designed surface was formed by the flower-shaped ZnO (FZnO)crystals, which endowed the UHMWPE fibers with photocatalytic property. Moreover, F-ZnO on theUHMWPE fiber surface enhanced the roughness of the fiber, which improves the interfacial bondingstrength of fiber-reinforced composites. The experimental results showed that the surface wettabilityof the F-ZnO-UHMWPE fibers was improved significantly. Moreover, F-ZnO-UHMWPE fibers were usedas immobilized photocatalyst, and the degradation rate of rodamine B reached 53.3 %. F-ZnOUHMWPEfiber also could be used in fiber-reinforced composites fields. Compared with the pure rigidpolyurethane (RPU) and UHMWPE fibers/RPU composites, the tensile strengths of F-ZnO-UHMWPEfibers/RPU composites were improved by 130.3 % and 44.2 % respectively.

Comparison of Three Magnetization Transfer Ratio Parameters for Assessment of Intestinal Fibrosis in Patients with Crohn’s Disease

        Jixin Meng,SiYun Huang,CanHui Sun,Zhong-wei Zhang,Ren Mao,Yan-hong Yang,ShiTing Feng,ZiPing Li,XueHua Li 대한영상의학회 2020 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.21 No.3

Objective: To establish a novel standardized magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) parameter which considers the element of the normal bowel wall and to compare the efficacy of the MTR, normalized MTR, and standardized MTR in evaluating intestinal fibrosis in Crohn’s disease (CD). Materials and Methods: Abdominal magnetization transfer imaging from 20 consecutive CD patients were analyzed before performing elective operations. MTR parameters were calculated by delineating regions of interest in specified segments on MTR maps. Specimens with pathologically confirmed bowel fibrosis were classified into one of four severity grades. The correlation between MTR parameters and fibrosis score was tested by Spearman’s rank correlation. Differences in MTR, normalized MTR, and standardized MTR across diverse histologic fibrosis scores were analyzed using the independent sample t test or the MannWhitney U test. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was computed to test the efficacies of the MTR parameters in differentiating severe intestinal fibrosis from mild-to-moderate fibrosis. Results: Normalized (r = 0.700; p < 0.001) and standardized MTR (r = 0.695; p < 0.001) showed a strong correlation with bowel fibrosis scores, followed by MTR (r = 0.590; p < 0.001). Significant differences in MTR (t = -4.470; p < 0.001), normalized MTR (Z = -5.003; p < 0.001), and standardized MTR (Z = -5.133; p < 0.001) were found between mild-to-moderate and severe bowel fibrosis. Standardized MTR (AUC = 0.895; p < 0.001) had the highest accuracy in differentiating severe bowel fibrosis from mild-to-moderate bowel wall fibrosis, followed by normalized MTR (AUC = 0.885; p < 0.001) and MTR (AUC = 0.798; p < 0.001). Conclusion: Standardized MTR is slightly superior to MTR and normalized MTR and therefore may be an optimal parameter for evaluating the severity of intestinal fibrosis in CD.
