Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber is considered as one of the high-performancefibers. However, the inert surface of UHMWPE fiber limits its application in many fields. In order to optimizethe application of UHMWPE fibers in functional and composite fields, this work introduced a specialsurface structure of the UHMWPE fibers. The designed surface was formed by the flower-shaped ZnO (FZnO)crystals, which endowed the UHMWPE fibers with photocatalytic property. Moreover, F-ZnO on theUHMWPE fiber surface enhanced the roughness of the fiber, which improves the interfacial bondingstrength of fiber-reinforced composites. The experimental results showed that the surface wettabilityof the F-ZnO-UHMWPE fibers was improved significantly. Moreover, F-ZnO-UHMWPE fibers were usedas immobilized photocatalyst, and the degradation rate of rodamine B reached 53.3 %. F-ZnOUHMWPEfiber also could be used in fiber-reinforced composites fields. Compared with the pure rigidpolyurethane (RPU) and UHMWPE fibers/RPU composites, the tensile strengths of F-ZnO-UHMWPEfibers/RPU composites were improved by 130.3 % and 44.2 % respectively.

For the sake of improving the electrochemical activity and chromium tolerance of the K2NiF4- type oxide, La2NiO4+ δ (LNO), with nonnucleation agents like Mn and Sr elements, the electrochemical performance and degradation were comparatively studied at two cathodes La2Ni0.9Fe0.1O4+ δ (LNF) and LNF-40wt%Gd0.1Ce0.9O1.95 (LNF-GDC) on the GDC electrolyte, where 5wt%Cr2O3 incorporation provides Cr-containing atmosphere. Compared with non-doped LNO, LNF shows a higherinterstitial oxygen concentration (δ = 0.298) and a lower electrical conductivity, where bivalent Ni ion, Ni×Ni , and trivalentNi ion, Ni⋅Ni , and trivalent Fe ion on Ni-site, Fe⋅Ni , were observed from the XPS measurements. LNF-GDC shows greatlyreduced interfacial polarization resistances (Rp), which are only half of those of LNF, indicating a better electrochemicalperformance. More importantly, no significant degradation of LNF-GDC in performance has been observed under exposureof Cr-containing atmosphere at 700 °C for 350 h, while Rp of LNF increased by nearly 20%, suggesting LNF by GDCincorporation can enhance the electrochemical performance as well as chromium tolerance for intermediate temperaturesolid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs).

Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) is a Gram-positiveintracellular foodborne pathogen that causes severe diseases, such as meningitis and sepsis. The NLR family pyrindomain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome has been reportedto participate in host defense against pathogen infection. However, the exact molecular mechanisms underlyingNLRP3 inflammasome activation remain to be fully elucidated. In the present study, the roles of mammalian Ste20-like kinases 1/2 (Mst1/2) and Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase(ALK) in the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome inducedby L. monocytogenes infection were investigated. Theexpression levels of Mst1/2, phospho (p)-ALK, p-JNK, Nek7,and NLRP3 downstream molecules including activated caspase-1 (p20) and mature interleukin (IL)-1β (p17), were upregulatedin L. monocytogenes-infected macrophages. TheALK inhibitor significantly decreased the expression of p-JNK,Nek7, and NLRP3 downstream molecules in macrophages infectedwith L. monocytogenes. Furthermore, the Mst1/2 inhibitormarkedly inhibited the L. monocytogenes-induced activationof ALK, subsequently downregulating the expressionof p-JNK, Nek7, and NLRP3 downstream molecules. Therefore, our study demonstrated that Mst1/2-ALK mediatedthe activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome by promotingthe interaction between Nek7 and NLRP3 via JNK duringL. monocytogenes infection, which subsequently increased thematuration and release of proinflammatory cytokine to resistpathogen infection. Moreover, Listeriolysin O played akey role in the process. In addition, we also found that the L. monocytogenes-induced apoptosis of J774A.1 cells was reducedby the Mst1/2 or ALK inhibitor. The present study reported, for the first time, that the Mst1/2-ALK-JNK-NLRP3 signalingpathway plays a vital proinflammatory role during L. monocytogenesinfection.

Background: African swine fever virus (ASFV), classical swine fever virus (CSFV), and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) are still prevalent in many regions of China. Co-infections make it difficult to distinguish their clinical symptoms and pathological changes. Therefore, a rapid and specific method is needed for the differential detection of these pathogens. Objectives: The aim of this study was to develop a multiplex real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (multiplex qRT-PCR) for the simultaneous differential detection of ASFV, CSFV, and PRRSV. Methods: Three pairs of primers and TaqMan probes targeting the ASFV p72 gene, CSFV 5′ untranslated region, and PRRSV ORF7 gene were designed. After optimizing the reaction conditions, including the annealing temperature, primer concentration, and probe concentration, multiplex qRT-PCR for simultaneous and differential detection of ASFV, CSFV, and PRRSV was developed. Subsequently, 1,143 clinical samples were detected to verify the practicality of the assay. Results: The multiplex qRT-PCR assay could specifically and simultaneously detect the ASFV, CSFV, and PRRSV with a detection limit of 1.78 × 100 copies for the ASFV, CSFV, and PRRSV, but could not amplify the other major porcine viruses, such as pseudorabies virus, porcine circovirus type 1 (PCV1), PCV2, PCV3, foot-and-mouth disease virus, porcine parvovirus, atypical porcine pestivirus, and Senecavirus A. The assay had good repeatability with coefficients of variation of intra- and inter-assay of less than 1.2%. Finally, the assay was used to detect 1,143 clinical samples to evaluate its practicality in the field. The positive rates of ASFV, CSFV, and PRRSV were 25.63%, 9.36%, and 17.50%, respectively. The co-infection rates of ASFV+CSFV, ASFV+PRRSV, CSFV+PRRSV, and ASFV+CSFV+PRRSV were 2.45%, 2.36%, 1.57%, and 0.17%, respectively. Conclusions: The multiplex qRT-PCR developed in this study could provide a rapid, sensitive, specific diagnostic tool for the simultaneous and differential detection of ASFV, CSFV, and PRRSV.

This report describes the identification of a novel linear B-cell epitope at the C-terminus of the membrane (M) protein of avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV). A monoclonal antibody (MAb) (designated as 15E2) against the IBV M protein was prepared and a series of 14 partially-overlapping fragments of the IBV M gene were expressed with a GST tag. These peptides were subjected to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and western blotting analysis using MAb 15E2 to identify the epitope. A linear motif, 199FATFVYAK206, which was located at the C-terminus of the M protein, was identified by MAb 15E2. ELISA and western blotting also showed that this epitope could be recognized by IBV-positive serum from chicken. Given that 15E2 showed reactivity with the 199FATFVYAK206 motif, expressed as a GST fusion protein, in both western blotting and in an ELISA, we proposed that this motif represented a linear B-cell epitope of the M protein. The 199FATFVYAK206 motif was the minimal requirement for reactivity as demonstrated by analysis of the reactivity of 15E2 with several truncated peptides that were derived from the motif. Alignment and comparison of the 15E2-defined epitope sequence with the sequences of other coronaviruses indicated that the epitope is well conserved among chicken and turkey coronaviruses. The identified epitope should be useful in clinical applications and as a tool for the further study of the structure and function of the M protein of IBV.

In response to explore how to extract the recommended items' features, a method is put forward called a Content-based TV Program Recommendation Approach Enhanced with Delayering Tagging. The Content-based approach is optimized to recommend TV programs and improved the way to extract the recommended items' features. Besides, the existing way of using supervised method to build user modeling is replaced with an unsupervised method using delayering tagging to show recommended TV program's content features and set up user preference model. After compared with Latent Factor Model and Collaborative Filtering recommendation algorithm with the same experimental data, the proposed algorithm in this paper increased the accuracy of 2.67\%, coverage rate of 3.02\% and 3.2\% of the Feature 1 value and achieved good recommendation results compared to the Latent Factor Model which revealed the best effect of recommendation.
