        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        Bucillamine prevents cisplatin-induced ototoxicity through induction of glutathione and antioxidant genes

        <P>Bucillamine is used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. This study investigated the protective effects of bucillamine against cisplatin-induced damage in auditory cells, the organ of Corti from postnatal rats (P2) and adult Balb/C mice. Cisplatin increases the catalytic activity of caspase-3 and caspase-8 proteases and the production of free radicals, which were significantly suppressed by pretreatment with bucillamine. Bucillamine induces the intranuclear translocation of Nrf2 and thereby increases the expression of γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase (γ-GCS) and glutathione synthetase (GSS), which further induces intracellular antioxidant glutathione (GSH), heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) and superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2). However, knockdown studies of HO-1 and SOD2 suggest that the protective effect of bucillamine against cisplatin is independent of the enzymatic activity of HO-1 and SOD. Furthermore, pretreatment with bucillamine protects sensory hair cells on organ of Corti explants from cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity concomitantly with inhibition of caspase-3 activation. The auditory-brainstem-evoked response of cisplatin-injected mice shows marked increases in hearing threshold shifts, which was markedly suppressed by pretreatment with bucillamine <I>in vivo</I>. Taken together, bucillamine protects sensory hair cells from cisplatin through a scavenging effect on itself, as well as the induction of intracellular GSH.</P>

        상악 절치부에 매복된 다수 과잉치의 외과적 발거

        과잉치란 정상에 비해 많은 수의 치아를 일컫는 것으로 유치열기와 혼합치열기에 발생하며,여러 가지 임상적 문제를 일으킬 수 있다. 특히 상악 전치부의 과잉치는 상악 전치의 맹출 장애 및 전위,정중부의 치간 이개,치근 흡수,함치성 낭종 형성 등의 문제를 유발할 수 있으므로 조기에 진단하고,과잉치의 위치 및 수,형태에 따라 적절한 치료를 시행하는 것이 중요하다. 이 증례는 상악 전치부에 네 개의 과잉치가 영구치의 맹출을 방해하고 있는 경우로,발거 시 합병증을 최소화하기 위하여 두 단계로 나누어 발거하였다. 컴퓨터 단층 촬영에서 네 개의 과잉치가 주위의 영구치 맹출을 방해하고 있었고,그 중 두 개의 과잉치는 절치 치배에 매우 근접해 있었다. 네 개의 과잉치를 동시에 제거할 경우 영구 치배에 손상을 줄 위험이 있으므로 두 개의 역위 매복된 원추형의 과잉치만 먼저 발거하였다. 남은 두 개의 과잉치는 위치가 변화되기를 기다린 후 두 번째 발거 수술을 시행하여,주위 절치 치배에 손상을 가하지 않고 치조골 삭제를 적게 하여 합병증 발생을 줄일 수 있었다. Supernumerary teeth are characterized by an excess number of teeth, which can be responsible for a variety of irregularities in the primary and transitional dentition, Supernumerary teeth, especially in the maxillary anterior region, may prevent the eruption of adjacent permanent teeth and cause their ectopic eruption, diastema, root resorption, or formation of dentigerous cyst. Therefore, early diagnosis of supernumerary teeth is important for prevention of such complications, and adequate treatment should be given according to their location, number, and morphologic features. In this case. four supernumerary teeth in the maxillary anterior region were disturbing the eruption of adjacent permanent incisors. Two of them were located in proximity to the central incisor tooth germs that their immediate removal may injure the permanent tooth germs, In order to minimize such complications, surgical extraction of the four supernumerary teeth was performed in two stages. At first, only two inverted conical supernumerary teeth were extracted. The other two tuberculous supernumerary teeth, close to the permanent tooth germs, were extracted later after their natural dislocation, In that way, we could minimize affects on the neighboring permanent tooth germs and also the amount of alveolar bone removed during surgery.

        매복 하악 견치의 자가이식술을 이용한 치험례

        Autotransplantation is the transplantation of embeded, impacted, or unerupted tooth, into extraction socket or surgically prepared socket in the same individual. Clinically, successful autotransplantation must show radiolucent space(preiodontal ligament space) between transplanted tooth and supporting bone, lamina dura, no root resorption, no ankylosis, no inflammatory change, and physiologic tooth mobility. It is important that procedure is atraumatic, and the instruments should not contact the root surface during procedure. We performed autotransplantation of impacted mandibular canine that transversely located beneath the apices of the mandibular incisors with uncompletely developed apex. In radiographs and clinical evaluation, this transplant showed successful clinical finding except irregularity of mesial root surface after 14 months. It is concluded that transplantation of canine with 1/2∼3/4 root development provides a good chance of pulp survival, limited risk of root resorption and ensures sufficient final length, and is thus recommended.

        생검펀치를 이용한 점액낭종의 절제

        점액낭종은 소타액선 분비관의 폐쇄나 파열로 타액이 저류되어 발생하는 연조직 부종이고, 비교적 높은 빈도로 발생하는 구강내 가성 낭종으로 스스로 파열되어 치유되기도 하지만 대개는 만성적으로 진행되어 몇 주에서 몇 달간 지속되기 때문에 치료가 필요하다. 점액 낭종의 발생시, 주변에 이환된 소타액선을 포함하여 제거하는 완전절제술 외에 재발율을 낮추기 위한 스테로이드의 국소적 주입, 냉동동결요법(cryotherapy), 미세조대술(micromarsupialization) 등의 여러 가지 치료방법이 제시되고 있다. 완전절제술의 한 방법으로 생검펀치(biopsy punch)를 이용할 수 있는데, 조작이 간편하고 출혈이 적으며 술 후 처치가 거의 필요없다는 장점이 있다. 이 증례는 점액낭종이 있고 행동 조절이 힘든 소아에서 생검펀치를 사용하여 점액낭종을 완전히 제거한 경우로, 양호한 결과를 얻었다. Mucocele is a clinical term of the localized superficial mucosal swelling caused by salivary retention after the obstruction or the rupture of minor salivary ducts. Various treatment methods have been suggested to lower its recurrence rate, including complete excision of lesion Biopsy punch can be used easily and simply for complete excision of mucocele. It has several advantages, such as convenience in use, low bleeding tendency, and nearly no requirements for post-operative management. In this case, biopsy punch was used for the removal of mucocele in an uncooperative child, which enable fast, simple and safe procedure, with a good result.

      • 보행시 발생되는 하지 운동근의 장력과 관절 토오크의 수리적 해석

        The purpose of this study is to present the mathematical interpretation on joint torque while being normal gait which include the muscle tension and use equation of motion with a double rigid-pendulum model. then, the estimates of the stance and swing phase were obtained from photoghaphs. When the angel of thigh(θ₁) and calf (θ₂) of lower leg measured from vertical direction to counterclockwise are compared, the results as follow; 1. It is possible to interpret the mathematical model on the joint torque of lower extremity with double rigid pendulum model. 2. With the conition of double rigid pendulum model, the length of center of mass does not effect at the change of angle.

      • 디지털 이미지 보호를 위한 효과적인 웨이브릿 변환

        The use of digital imaging technique and digital contents based on internet has grown rapidly for last several years, and the needs of digital image protection become more important. For the purpose of copyright protection on digital image, the verification of authentication techniques like content authentication, ownership authentication, illegal copy and etc are needed. Digital watermarking, the invisible encryption technique to insert digital watermark into image, the sophisticated perceptual information should be used for providing transparency and robustness of images on watermarking process. In this paper, we implement the algorithm for preventing forged attack, ownership protection and authentication by transforming the wavelet algorithms in frequency domain in terms of human visual system.

      • 상체의 중량 변화에 따른 보행의 운동현상학적 특성

        The purpose of this study was to find out the effect for carrying load of 20% & 40% of body weight by means of two different carrying systems on selected kinematic characteristic describe the walking gait patterns. 1. The gait cycle-time for loading of upperpart of body during walking gait was the longest at back pack system Ⅱ. The period of double support of back pack system condition tended to increase with loading of body and swing period tended to decrease. 2. Angle displacement of knee and ankle of joint was the most large at toe off phase and the most short at heel for gait cycle period. The angle displacement of ankle and knee in the condition of exteral load of body was slight increase at double pack system condition and decrease at back pack system condition. 3. The body posture and gait pattern for double pack condition were more similar to those for normal walking than for the back pack system condition, suggest that the double pack system was Kinematically more effective than the conventional back pack system for carrying the loads investigated.

      • 벼 직파재배 기계화 기술개발에 관한 고찰

        This study was conducted to suggest the mechanization strategy for rice direct seeding cultivation through reviewing the current rice cultivation status and its problem. The rice direct seeding cultivation can contribute to reduce production cost as well as to enhance the mechanization technology and related machine development. The objects and directions for rice direct seeding cultivation strategy, reviewed in this study, could be summarized as follows : 1. The breeding status for direct seeding cultivation is less uniform than transplanting cultivation, especially in large scale farming area. So, precision farming techniques for the operations such as seeding, fertilizing, water control etc., and proper farm machinery utilization system suitable for large scale farming area should be identified and introduced. 2. In order to get the effect of direct seeding cultivation such as reduction in production cost and save labor requirement, the following seeding machines should be developed and used in direct seeding cultivation, i.e. no or partial plowing machine, direct seeder for dry field, and direct seeder for wet field, which can be used for simultaneous operation of seeding, fertilizing, and weeding. 3. Governmental & private organizations concerned with agriculture and farm machinery should agree positively with the direct seeding cultivation policy. 4. It is urgent that development of precision farming technology and its mechanization suitable for korean field conditions with the assistance of information technology such as GPS and GIS.

      • 지반과 앵커체의 탄성계수비 (E_(a)/E_(r))에 따른 앵커체 표면에서의 응력전이에 관한 수치해석

        Anchor is used for a restraining of a ground deformation in the retaining wall, slope-stability et ect. When pullout load is applied to the anchor in the ground, the behavior of the anchor in the ground is differed by the rigidity of anchor body and ground. In this study, the stress-behavior is analyzed by the numerical a analysis on the surface of an anchor body according to the pullout of an anchor. Mostly, The analysis is focused on the change of a shear stress according to the coefficient ratio of elasticity. The coefficient ratio of elasticity(E_(a)/E_(r)) is defined by the ratio between elastic modulus of ground(E_(r)) and that of anchor body (E_(a)). By using this ratio, the progressive failure of anchor body can be analysed. 앵커는 흙막이 벽, 사면안정 등에서 사용되는 지반변형 억제공법이다. 앵커가 지중에서 인발하중을 받으면 앵커체의 강성과 지반의 강성에 따라 각각 다른거동을 하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 인장형 및 압축형 앵커의 인발에 따른 표면에서의 응력거동을, 주로 탄성계수비에 따른 전단응력의 변화에 중점을 두고 수치해석 기법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 여기서, 탄성계수비(coefficient ratio of elasticity)란 지반탄성계수(E_(r))와 앵커체탄성계수(E_(a))의 비 (E_(a)/E_(r))를 말하는데, 이 탄성계수비에 의해 앵커의 진행성 파괴에 대한 영향을 평가할 수 있다.
