Nano ZrO2-10 vol.% TiN composite was fabricated by spark plasma sintering (SPS) using nano sized 3Y-ZrO2 and TiN particles as initial materials. The effects of sintering temperature of 1100-1300 o C, heating rate of 2-250 o C/min, annealing time of 5-120 min, and applied pressure of 20-100 MPa on the microstructure and mechanical properties were systemically investigated. It was confirmed that the main compositions of densified composites were t-ZrO2 and c-TiN. Both the sintering temperature above 1100 o C and the applied pressure above 60 MPa were the most important factors to affect the full densification of composites. The grain sizes of ZrO2 and TiN were kept below 243 and 171 nm, respectively. Vickers hardness of 13.90-15.53 GPa, fracture toughness of 2.91-5.44 MPa • m1/2, and Young’s modulus of 216.2-228.0 GPa of dense composites ascribed to the sintering parameters were discussed.

A general and reliable method has been developed to functionalize either the iron oxide or the silicon nanowires (NWs) with nickel–nitriloacetic acid (Ni–NTA) complex, which was manufactured to manipulate His-tagged proteins and enzymes. The Ni–NTA-functionalized sea-urchin-shaped α-Fe2O3 NWs exhibit the superior protein purification efficiency and excellent stability in the form of dry powder. Application of this new nanotechnology in biomedical research field has been explored. A glucose degradation bio-matrix was made via the Ni–NTA-modified silicon NW-chips, which were conjugated with an enzyme essential to glycolysis. The glucose level in a simulated blood solution was found to be reduced from 14.4 mM to 9 mM after incubating the hexokinase I-functionalized silicon NW-chips for 12 h. These results suggest a possible way to build up a medical device using enzymes functionalized NW-chips for the removal of excess blood glucose.

A new actinomycete strain NA4 was isolated from a deep-sea sediment collected from the South China Sea and showed promising antifungal activities against soilborne fungal pathogens. It was identified as Streptomyces cavourensis by morphological, physiological, and phylogenetic analyses based on its 16S rRNA gene sequence. The main antifungal components were isolated and identified from the fermentation culture as bafilomycins B1 and C1. These compounds exhibited significant antifungal activities and a broad antifungal spectrum. The results suggest that the Streptomyces cavourensis NA4 and bafilomycins B1 and C1 could be used as potential biocontrol agents for soilborne fungal diseases of plants.
Comparative analysis of type 2 diabetes-associated gut microbiota between Han and Mongolian people
Shu-chun Li,Yao Xiao,Ri-tu Wu,Dan Xie,Huan-hu Zhao,Gang-yi Shen,En-qi Wu 한국미생물학회 2021 The journal of microbiology Vol.59 No.7
Due to the different rates of diabetes in different ethnic groupsand the structural differences in intestinal microbiota, thisstudy evaluated the changes in diabetes-related intestinal microbiotain two ethnic groups. Fifty-six stool samples werecollected from subjects from the Han and Mongolian ethnicgroups in China, including participants without diabetes(non-diabetic, ND) and with type 2 diabetes (T2D). The 16SrDNA gene V3 + V4 area was extracted from microbiota, amplified by PCR, and used to perform high-throughput sequencingand screen differential microbiota associated withethnicity. The results showed that there were 44 T2D-relatedbacterial markers in the Han subjects, of which Flavonifractor,Alistipes, Prevotella, Oscillibacter, Clostridium XlVa,and Lachnospiracea_incertae_sedis were most closely relatedto diabetes. There were 20 T2D-related bacterial markers inthe Mongolian subjects, of which Fastidiosipila and Barnesiellawere most closely related to diabetes. The commonmarkers of T2D bacteria in the two ethnic groups were Papillibacterand Bifidobacterium. There were 17 metabolic pathwayswith significant differences between the ND and T2Dgroups in the Han group, and 29 metabolic pathways in theMongolian group. The glutamatergic metabolic pathway wasthe only common metabolic pathway in two ethnic groups. The composition and function of diabetes-related bacteriawere significantly different among the different ethnic groups, which suggested that the influence of ethnic differences shouldbe fully considered when studying the association betweendiabetes and bacteria. In addition, the common bacterialmarkers found in diabetic patients of different ethnic groupsin this study can be used as potential targets to study the pathogenesisand treatment of diabetes.
Primary Research on Theoretical Performance and Powder Supply Characteristics of Powder Rocket

The powder propellant rocket which uses micron-sized particles as fuel is storable and costly. Functions like thrust control and multiple-ignition can be realized by changing powder mass flow rate. In this paper, we discuss the theoretical performance of bi-propellant and mono-propellant powder rocket. When used as the fluidization gas, helium can improve specific impulse dramatically. The stability of the powder feeding device is preliminarily quantified through metal/N2O powder rocket hot fire tests.
An Efficient Multi-PCA Based On-line Monitoring Scheme for Multi-Stages Imperial Smelting Process
Zhi-kun Hu,Zhi-wen Chen,Wei-Hua Gui,Chun-hua Yang,Lin-zi Yin,Xiao-qi Peng 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.2
Imperial Smelting Process (ISP) is one of the main methods for Zinc and Lead smelting. In this paper, we firstly focus on its unique characteristics that ISP consists of many feeding cycles repeated in a similar way, and the normal process changes and multiple operating conditions would be frequently found in the process which would always lead to false alarms. To this end, we classify each feeding cycles of ISP into initial stage, transition stage, and steady stage, and use standard PCA, first order perturbation (FOP) based recursive dynamic PCA and multi-mode approach to deal with them respectively. The monitoring results using real data show that the proposed scheme can be able to eliminate false alarms and detect faults efficiently.
Tip Position Control of a Flexible-Link Manipulator with Neural Networks
Yuan-Gang Tang,Fu-Chun Sun,Zeng-Qi Sun,Ting-Liang Hu 대한전기학회 2006 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.4 No.3
To control the tip position of a flexible-link manipulator;a neural network (NN) controller is proposed in this paper. The dynamics error used to construct NN controller is derived based on output redefinition approach. Without the filtered tracking en-or;the proposed NN controller can still guarantee the closed-loop system uniformly asymptotically stable as well as NN weights bounded. Furthermore;the tracking error of desired trajectory can converge to zero with the proposed controller. For comparison an NN controller with filtered tracking en-or is also designed for the flexible-link manipulator. Finally;simulation studies are carried out to verify the theoretic results.
