      • An Arabidopsis SUMO E3 Ligase, SIZ1, Negatively Regulates Photomorphogenesis by Promoting COP1 Activity

        Lin, Xiao-Li,Niu, De,Hu, Zi-Liang,Kim, Dae Heon,Jin, Yin Hua,Cai, Bin,Liu, Peng,Miura, Kenji,Yun, Dae-Jin,Kim, Woe-Yeon,Lin, Rongcheng,Jin, Jing Bo Public Library of Science 2016 PLoS genetics Vol.12 No.4

<P>COP1 (CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 1), a ubiquitin E3 ligase, is a central negative regulator of photomorphogenesis. However, how COP1 activity is regulated by post-translational modifications remains largely unknown. Here we show that SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) modification enhances COP1 activity. Loss-of-function siz1 mutant seedlings exhibit a weak constitutive photomorphogenic phenotype. SIZ1 physically interacts with COP1 and mediates the sumoylation of COP1. A K193R substitution in COP1 blocks its SUMO modification and reduces COP1 activity in vitro and in planta. Consistently, COP1 activity is reduced in siz1 and the level of HY5, a COP1 target protein, is increased in siz1. Sumoylated COP1 may exhibits higher transubiquitination activity than does non-sumoylated COP1, but SIZ1-mediated SUMO modification does not affect COP1 dimerization, COP1-HY5 interaction, and nuclear accumulation of COP1. Interestingly, prolonged light exposure reduces the sumoylation level of COP1, and COP1 mediates the ubiquitination and degradation of SIZ1. These regulatory mechanisms may maintain the homeostasis of COP1 activity, ensuing proper photomorphogenic development in changing light environment. Our genetic and biochemical studies identify a function for SIZ1 in photomorphogenesis and reveal a novel SUMO-regulated ubiquitin ligase, COP1, in plants.</P>

Robust State Observer Design for Dynamic Connection Relationships in Complex Dynamical Networks

        Zi-lin Gao,Yin-He Wang,Jiang Xiong,Li-li Zhang,Wen-li Wang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.2

The complex dynamical network with the time-varying links may be regarded to be composed of the twomutually coupled subsystems, which are called the nodes subsystem and the connection relationships subsystemrespectively. Designing the state observer for the nodes subsystem has been discussed in some existing researches byemploying the known connection relationships. However, the state observer design for the connection relationshipssubsystem is not shown in the existing researches. In practical applications, the connection relationships subsystempossesses also the state variables such as the relationship strength in social network, the size of web tension in theweb winding system. Therefore, designing the state observer for the connection relationships subsystem is also ofpractical significance. In this paper, a novel state observer is proposed for the connection relationships subsystemmodeled mathematically by the Riccati matrix differential equation. The observer utilizes the output measurementsof the connection relationships subsystem and the state of nodes subsystem. Compared with the state observerof nodes subsystems which employs the known connection relationships, the state observer for the connectionrelationships subsystem employs the state of nodes subsystem and is represented in form of the matrix differentialequation. By using Lyapunov stability theory, it is proved in this paper that the state observer for the connectionrelationships subsystem is asymptotical under certain mathematic conditions. Finally, the illustrative simulation isgiven to show the efficiency and validity of the proposed method in this paper.

Flavonoid Glycosides and Potential Antivirus Activity of Isolated Compounds from the Leaves of Eucalyptus citriodora

        Zhou, Zhong-Liu,Yin, Wen-Qing,Zou, Xiao-Peng,Huang, Dan-Ying,Zhou, Cui-Liu,Li, Lian-Mei,Chen, Ke-Cheng,Guo, Zi-Ying,Lin, San-Qing 한국응용생명화학회 2014 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.57 No.6

The extraction and solvent partition of the leaves of Eucalyptus citriodora, and repeated column chromatography for n-BuOH fraction yielded a new flavonoid glycoside, citrioside C (1), along with three known flavonoid glycosides (2-4). The latter were identified with kaempferol-3-O-${\beta}$-$\small{D}$-glucopyranosyl (12)-${\alpha}$-$\small{L}$-rhamnoside (2), kaempferol-3-O-${\alpha}$-$\small{L}$-rhamnoside (3), and quercetin-3-O-${\alpha}$-$\small{L}$-rhamnoside (4). Their chemical structures were identified on the basis of spectroscopic data analyses including NMR, MS, UV, and IR. All constitutents were isolated for the first time from the leaves of Eucalyptus citriodora. The potential antivirus activity of all the isolated compounds was evaluated. Compound 4 showed potent antiviral activity against respiratory syncytial virus with 50% inhibition concentration ($IC_{50}$) value of $1.9{\mu}g/mL$ and selective index value of 9.8.

Tracking Control for the Connection Relationships of Discrete-time Complex Dynamical Network Associated with the Controlled Nodes

        Li-zhi Liu,Yin-He Wang,Zi-lin Gao 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.9

In this paper, a general discrete-time complex dynamical network is regarded to be composed of the nodes subsystem and the links subsystem which are mutually coupled. Different from the existing researches on the stabilization and synchronization of nodes group, this paper mainly focuses on the dynamical behavior of connection relationships between the nodes, and the network nodes only play a helping and secondary role in the dynamics of connection relationships. Due to the state of the links subsystem is difficult to be measured accurately in practice appliances, the Riccati difference equation without any control input is employed as the dynamic model of the links subsystem, in which the dynamic coupling term is the first order polynomial about the state of nodes. With the helping of controlled nodes, the tracking problem is discussed for the links subsystem. By using thecoupling algebraic relation between the reference tracking targets of the nodes subsystem and the given trackingtarget of the links subsystem, the tracking control scheme is proposed for the nodes subsystem to force the linkssubsystem converges asymptotically to the given target. Finally, the simulations are used to show the validity of themethod in this paper.

An Efficient Multi-PCA Based On-line Monitoring Scheme for Multi-Stages Imperial Smelting Process

        Zhi-kun Hu,Zhi-wen Chen,Wei-Hua Gui,Chun-hua Yang,Lin-zi Yin,Xiao-qi Peng 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.2

Imperial Smelting Process (ISP) is one of the main methods for Zinc and Lead smelting. In this paper, we firstly focus on its unique characteristics that ISP consists of many feeding cycles repeated in a similar way, and the normal process changes and multiple operating conditions would be frequently found in the process which would always lead to false alarms. To this end, we classify each feeding cycles of ISP into initial stage, transition stage, and steady stage, and use standard PCA, first order perturbation (FOP) based recursive dynamic PCA and multi-mode approach to deal with them respectively. The monitoring results using real data show that the proposed scheme can be able to eliminate false alarms and detect faults efficiently.
