Microstructure and mechanical properties of nano ZrO2-10 vol.% TiN composite fabricated by spark plasma sintering

        Chun-Feng Hu,김병남,박영조,Koji Morita,Hidehiro Yoshida,Salvatore Grasso,Hai-Bin Zhang,Shu-Qi Guo,Yoshio Sakka 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2015 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.16 No.3

Nano ZrO2-10 vol.% TiN composite was fabricated by spark plasma sintering (SPS) using nano sized 3Y-ZrO2 and TiN particles as initial materials. The effects of sintering temperature of 1100-1300 o C, heating rate of 2-250 o C/min, annealing time of 5-120 min, and applied pressure of 20-100 MPa on the microstructure and mechanical properties were systemically investigated. It was confirmed that the main compositions of densified composites were t-ZrO2 and c-TiN. Both the sintering temperature above 1100 o C and the applied pressure above 60 MPa were the most important factors to affect the full densification of composites. The grain sizes of ZrO2 and TiN were kept below 243 and 171 nm, respectively. Vickers hardness of 13.90-15.53 GPa, fracture toughness of 2.91-5.44 MPa • m1/2, and Young’s modulus of 216.2-228.0 GPa of dense composites ascribed to the sintering parameters were discussed.

Traditional Chinese medicine for COVID-19 pandemic and emerging challenges: An online cross-sectional survey in China

        Chun-Li Lu,Ruo-Xiang Zheng,Xue Xue,Xiao-Wen Zhang,Xue-Han Liu,Xin-Yan Jin,Feng-Lan Pu,Hui-Di Lan,Min Fang,Ling-Yao Kong,Merlin Willcox,Bertrand Graz,Joelle Houriet,Xiao-Yang Hu,Jian-ping Liu 한국한의학연구원 2021 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.10 No.-

Background We aimed to investigate use of infection control behaviours, preventative and therapeutic interventions, and outcomes among respondents to an online survey during the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Methods The survey was designed by an international team, translated and adapted to simplified Chinese, including 132 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation recommended by guidelines. It was distributed and collected from February to May 2021, with data analysed by WPS spreadsheet and wjx.cn. Descriptive statistics were used to describe demographics and clinical characteristics, diagnosis, treatments, preventative behaviours and interventions, and their associated outcomes. Results The survey was accessed 503 times with 341 (67.8%) completions covering 23 provinces and four municipalities in China. Most (282/341, 82.7%) respondents reported no symptoms during the pandemic and the majority (290/341, 85.0%) reported having a SARS-CoV-2 PCR test at some point. Forty-five (13.2%) reported having a respiratory infection, among which 19 (42.2%) took one or more categories of modern medicine, e.g. painkillers, antibiotics; 16 (35.6%) used TCM interventions(s); while seven respondents combined TCM with modern medicine. All respondents reported using at least one behavioural or medical approach to prevention, with 22.3% taking TCM and 5.3% taking modern medicines. No respondents reported having a critical condition related to COVID-19. Conclusion We found evidence of widespread use of infection control behaviours, modern medicines and TCM for treatment and prevention of COVID-19 and other respiratory symptoms. Larger scale studies are warranted, including a more representative sample exploring TCM preparations recommended in clinical guidelines. Mechanical behavior of recycled fine aggregate concrete after high temperature

        Jiong-Feng Liang,En Wang,Chun-Feng He,Peng Hu 국제구조공학회 2018 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.65 No.3

This paper reports mechanical behavior of recycled fine aggregate concretes after high temperatures. It is found that compressive strength of recycled fine aggregate concretes decline significantly as the temperature rises. The elastic modulus of recycled fine aggregate concretes decreases with the increase in temperature, and the decrease is much quicker than the decrease in compressive strength. The split tensile strength of recycled fine aggregate concrete decrease as the temperature rises. Through the regression analysis, the relationship of the mechanical behavior with temperature are proposed, including the compressive behavior, elastic modulus and split tensile strength, which are fitting the test data.

      • Compound HRAS/PIK3CA Mutations in Chinese Patients with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcomas

Liu, Chun-Xia,Li, Xiao-Ying,Li, Cheng-Fang,Chen, Yun-Zhao,Cui, Xiao-Bin,Hu, Jian-Ming,Li, Feng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.4

The rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is the most common type of soft tissue tumor in children and adolescents; yet only a few screens for oncogenic mutations have been conducted for RMS. To identify novel mutations and potential therapeutic targets, we conducted a high-throughput Sequenom mass spectrometry-based analysis of 238 known mutations in 19 oncogenes in 17 primary formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded RMS tissue samples and two RMS cell lines. Mutations were detected in 31.6% (6 of 19) of the RMS specimens. Specifically, mutations in the NRAS gene were found in 27.3% (3 of 11) of embryonal RMS cases, while mutations in NRAS, HRAS, and PIK3CA genes were identified in 37.5% (3 of 8) of alveolar RMS (ARMS) cases; moreover, PIK3CA mutations were found in 25% (2 of 8) of ARMS specimens. The results demonstrate that tumor profiling in archival tissue samples is a useful tool for identifying diagnostic markers and potential therapeutic targets and suggests that these HRAS/ PIK3CA mutations play a critical role in the genesis of RMS.

      • Graphite-based selectorless RRAM: improvable intrinsic nonlinearity for array applications

        Chen, Ying-Chen,Hu, Szu-Tung,Lin, Chih-Yang,Fowler, Burt,Huang, Hui-Chun,Lin, Chao-Cheng,Kim, Sungjun,Chang, Yao-Feng,Lee, Jack C. The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 Nanoscale Vol.10 No.33

<P>Selectorless graphite-based resistive random-access memory (RRAM) has been demonstrated by utilizing the intrinsic nonlinear resistive switching (RS) characteristics, without an additional selector or transistor for low-power RRAM array application. The low effective dielectric constant value (<I>k</I>) layer of graphite or graphite oxide is utilized, which is beneficial in suppressing sneak-path currents in the crossbar RRAM array. The tail-bits with low nonlinearity can be manipulated by the positive voltage pulse, which in turn can alleviate variability and reliability issues. Our results provide additional insights for built-in nonlinearity in 1<I>R</I>-only selectorless RRAMs, which are applicable to the low-power memory array, ultrahigh density storage, and in-memory neuromorphic computational configurations.</P>

      • Association of Rs11615 (C>T) in the Excision Repair Cross-complementing Group 1 Gene with Ovarian but not Gynecological Cancer Susceptibility: a Meta-analysis

Ma, Yong-Jun,Feng, Sheng-Chun,Hu, Shao-Long,Zhuang, Shun-Hong,Fu, Guan-Hua Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.15

Background: Evidence suggests that the rs11615 (C>T) polymorphism in the ERCC1 gene may be a risk factor for gynecological tumors. However, results have not been consistent. Therefore we performed this meta-analysis. Methods: Eligible studies were identified by search of PubMed, MEDLINE and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were applied to assess associations between rs11615 (C>T) and gynecological tumor risk. Heterogeneity among studies was tested and sensitivity analysis was applied. Results: A total of 6 studies were identified, with 1,766 cases and 2,073 controls. No significant association was found overall between rs11615 (C>T) polymorphism and gynecological tumors susceptibility in any genetic model. In further analysis stratified by cancer type, significantly elevated ovarian cancer risk was observed in the homozygote and recessive model comparison (TT vs. CC: OR=1.69, 95% CI=1.03-2.77, heterogeneity=0.876; TT vs. CT/CC: OR=1.72, 95% CI=1.07-2.77, heterogeneity=0.995). Conclusion: The results of the present meta-analysis suggest that there is no significant association between the rs11615 (C>T) polymorphism and gynecological tumor risk, but it had a increased risk in ovarian cancer.

An Emission-Aware Day-Ahead Power Scheduling System for Internet of Energy

        ( Chenn-jung Huang ),( Kai-wen Hu ),( An-feng Liu ),( Liang-chun Chen ),( Chih-ting Chen ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.13 No.10

As a subset of the Internet of Things, the Internet of Energy (IoE) is expected to tackle the problems faced by the current smart grid framework. Notably, the conventional day-ahead power scheduling of the smart grid should be redesigned in the IoE architecture to take into consideration the intermittence of scattered renewable generations, large amounts of power consumption data, and the uncertainty of the arrival time of electric vehicles (EVs). Accordingly, a day-ahead power scheduling system for the future IoE is proposed in this research to maximize the usage of distributed renewables and reduce carbon emission caused by the traditional power generation. Meanwhile, flexible charging mechanism of EVs is employed to provide preferred charging options for moving EVs and flatten the load profile simultaneously. The simulation results revealed that the proposed power scheduling mechanism not only achieves emission reduction and balances power load and supply effectively, but also fits each individual EV user’s preference.

      • Modification of a Smoking Motivation Questionnaire for Chinese Medical Students

        Jiang, Chao,Sun, Wen-Jie,Wan, Yan-Chun,Wei, Ming-Wei,Mu, Yong-Ping,Tarver, Siobhan L.,Gao, Yong-Qing,Hu, Tian,Xu, Chao,Gordon, James,Feng, Cindy Xin,Wen, Yu-Feng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.6

Introduction: Smoking prevalence among the medical students is high in China. Therefore, understanding the smoking motivations of medical students is crucial for smoking control, but currently there are no scales questionnaires customized for probing the smoking motivations of medical students. This aim of study was to test and modify a questionnaire for investigating smoking motivations among medical students. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 1,125 medical students at Xuzhou Medical College in China in 2012.The model fit and validity was assessed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the reliability was tested by single-item reliability, composite reliability, and item-total correlation. Results: The prevalence of smoking was 9.84 % among study population. In the modified scales, the global fit indices identified a CFI value of 0.96, TLI was 0.96, and the RMSEA was 0.063. CFA supported the two dimensional structure of the instrument. The average variance extracted ranged from 0.45 to 0.62. All single-item reliability scores were greater than 0.20, and the composite reliability ranged from 0.74 to 0.91. Conclusion: Modified scales could be the preliminary instrument used in evaluating the smoking motivations of medical students. However, it should be further assessed using other forms and methods of validity and reliability, additional motivations of smoking, and the survey of other medical colleges in China.
