Preparation and photocatalytic activity of a novel BiOCl/g‑C3N4 thin film prepared via spin coating

        WeiQin Cai,De‑Fang Zhang,Feng‑Jun Zhang,Won‑Chun Oh 한국세라믹학회 2020 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.57 No.3

Novel BiOCl/g-C3N4 thin film photocatalysts were synthesized via a simple two-step spin coating method. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the thin films for the degradation of rhodamine B under visible light (λ ≥ 400 nm) was investigated. The results showed that the BiOCl/g-C3N4 thin film photocatalysts exhibited significantly improved visible light absorption compared to the pure BiOCl thin film. The BiOCl/g-C3N4 film showed a rhodamine B degradation efficiency of 81.0% under visible light, which is 23.8 times higher than that of the pure BiOCl thin film. This excellent photocatalytic activity of the BiOCl/g-C3N4 film can be attributed to its efficient electron–hole separation due to the presence of g-C3N4.

      • Building Waste Output Forecasting Model based on Gray Metabolism GM (1,1)

        Yabo He,Wang Hongtao,Yang Lin,Qin Wei4 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.10 No.2

With the increase of construction investment and urbanization, building waste output in our country is huge. This paper first constructs a set based on the construction area and per unit area of garbage generated quantity of urban building waste estimation method, then using grey system theory prediction and analysis of the next four years of building waste output. By the introduction of metabolic thought, the grey metabolic GM (1,1) forecast model was constructed, overcoming the shortages of conventional GM (1, 1) model. Prediction results show that the model is higher than the conventional GM (1,1) model prediction accuracy, which is suitable for the prediction of the short term of building waste in our country and for the treatment and reuse of building waste to provide certain reference.

      • Analysis of Indoleamine 2-3 Dioxygenase (IDO) and EGFR Co-expression in Breast Cancer Tissue by Immunohistochemistry

        Bi, Wei-Wei,Zhang, Wei-Hua,Yin, Gui-Hua,Luo, Hong,Wang, Shou-Qin,Wang, Hongran,Li, Chao,Yan, Wei-Qun,Nie, De-Zhi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.14

Background: To determine the amount of co-expression of IDO and EGFR in breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods:In order to obtain the distribution of co-expression of IDO and EGFR in breast cancer, we tested 110 breast cancer paraffin tissue blocks with immunohistochemical methods. Then we investigated the relationship between the diagnostic and pathologic characteristics (tumor size, lymph node status, histologic grade, the gene expression of ER, PR, HER2, p53, Ki67 and PCNA) with the situation of co-expression of IDO and EGFR by reviewing the medical records of 32 breast cancer patients. Results: Among 110 breast cancers, 32 cases demonstrated IDO and EGFR co-expression (29.1%), IDO and EGFR synchronous co-expression being found in 19.1% and asynchronous in 10.0%. Conclusions: IDO and EGFR were co-expressed in breast cancer, including synchronous and asynchronous co-expression. The results suggest that considering IDO and EGFR as two indicators for breast cancer treatment or prognosis analysis provides a potential option of individual treatment for the portion of breast cancer patients with co-expression of IDO and EGFR.

Effect of Defaunation on In Vitro Fermentation Characteristics and Methane Emission When Incubated with Forages

        Qin, Wei-Ze,Choi, Seong-Ho,Lee, Seung-Uk,Lee, Sang-Suk,Song, Man-Kang The Korean Society of Grassland and Forage Science 2013 한국초지조사료학회지 Vol.33 No.3

An in vitro study was conducted to determine the effects of defaunation (removal of protozoa) and forage sources (rice straw, ryegrass and tall fescue) on ruminal fermentation characteristics, methane ($CH_4$) production and degradation by rumen microbes. Sodium lauryl sulfate, as a defaunation reagent, was added into the mixed culture solution to remove ruminal protozoa at a concentration of 0.375 mg/ml. Pure cellulose (0.64 g, Sigma, C8002) and three forage sources were incubated in the bottle of culture solution of mixed rumen microbes (faunation) or defaunation for up to 24 h. The concentration of ammonia-N was high under condition of defaunation compared to that from faunation in all incubations (p<0.001). Total VFA concentration was increased at 3, 6 and 12 h (p<0.05~p<0.01) but was decreased at 24 h incubation (p<0.001) under condition of defaunation. Defaunation decreased acetate (p<0.001) and butyrate (p<0.001) proportions at 6, 12 and 24 h incubation times, but increased propionate (p<0.001) proportion at all incubation times for forages. Effective degradability of dry matter was decreased by defaunation (p<0.001). Defaunation not only decreased total gas (p<0.001) and $CO_2$ (p<0.01~0.001) production at 12 and 24 h incubations, but reduced $CH_4$ production (p<0.001) at all incubation times for all forages. The $CH_4$ production, regardless of defaunation, in order of forage sources were rice straw > tall fescue > ryegrass > cellulose (p<0.001) up to 24 h incubation.

      • Lp-Norm-Based All-Pass System Design with Improved Convergence and Robustness

Wei Qin,Noboru Ito 제어로봇시스템학회 2013 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2013 No.10

When the least-pth algorithm is used for designing all-pass digital systems in the minimax error sense, an appropriate large p must be used. However, a large p may lead to divergent solution, i.e., the least-pth algorithm may diverge. This paper describes how to select a large p for the minimax design and thus guarantee the convergence of the iterative least-pth design procedures. A design example is given to show the convergence improvement as well as the effectiveness of the proposed search scheme for selecting a large p.

The dynamic transcriptome of waxy maize (Zea mays L. sinensis Kulesh) during seed development

        Wei Gu,Diansi Yu,Yuan Guan,Hui Wang,Tao Qin,Pingdong Sun,Yingxiong Hu,Jihui Wei,Hongjian Zheng 한국유전학회 2020 Genes & Genomics Vol.42 No.9

Background Waxy maize (Zea mays L. sinensis Kulesh) is a mutant of maize (Zea mays L.) with a mutation at Waxy1 (Wx1) gene locus. The seed of waxy maize has higher viscosity compared to regular maize. By now, we know little about the expression patterns of genes that involved in the seed development of waxy maize. Objective By analyzing the transcriptome data during waxy maize seed development, we attempt to dig out the genes that may infuence the seed development of waxy maize. Methods The seeds of waxy maize inbred line SWL01 from six phases after pollination were used to do RNA-seq. Bioinformatics methods were used to analyze the expression patterns of the expressed genes, to identify the genes involved in waxy maize seed development. Results A total of 24,546 genes including 1611 transcription factors (TFs) were detected during waxy maize seed development. Coexpression analysis of expressed genes revealed the dynamic processes of waxy maize seed development. Particularly, 2457 genes including 177 TFs were specially expressed in waxy maize seed, some of which mainly involved in the process of seed dormancy and maturation. In addition, 2681, 5686, 4491, 4386, 3669 and 4624 genes were identifed to be diferential expressed genes (DEGs) at six phases compared to regular maize B73, and 113 DEGs among them may be key genes that lead the diference of seed development between waxy and regular maizes in milk stage. Conclusion In summary, we elucidated the expression patterns of expressed genes during waxy maize seed development globally. A series of genes that associated with seed development were identifed in our research, which may provide an important resource for functional study of waxy maize seed development to help molecular assisted breeding.

Experimental study of masonry walls strengthened with CFRP

        Wei, Chang-Qin,Zhou, Xin-Gang,Ye, Lie-Ping Techno-Press 2007 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.25 No.6

In order to study the ductility and the lateral load carrying capacity of the masonry walls strengthened with CFRPs (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer sheets), three pieces of masonry walls subjected to cyclic loads with low frequency and vertical load of constant amplitude have been tested. Two different strengthening methods have been used. The strengthening efficiency is affected by the strengthening method. A simplified calculation approach has been introduced based on the experimental test results, and the theoretical results agree reasonably well with the experimental results. It is found that the critical loads, the critical displacements, the ultimate loads, the ultimate displacements and the ductile coefficients of the masonry walls strengthened with CFRPs improve remarkably (6%~57%). Therefore, the masonry structures strengthened with CFRPs are of better ductility and of better lateral load carrying capacity than the masonry structures without any strengthening measurements.

Effects of Defaunation on Fermentation Characteristics, Degradation of Ryegrass Hay and Methane Production by Rumen Microbes In Vitro When Incubated with Plant Oils

        Qin, Wei-Ze,Li, Cheng-Yun,Choi, Seong-Ho,Jugder, Shinekhuu,Kim, Hyun-Ju,Lee, Sang-Suk,Song, Man-Kang The Korean Society of Grassland and Forage Science 2014 한국초지조사료학회지 Vol.34 No.3

This study was conducted to examine the effects of defaunation (removal of live protozoa) on fermentation characteristics, degradation of ryegrass hay and $CH_4$ (methane) production by rumen microbes when incubated with plant oils (SO, sunflower oil and LO, linseed oil) in vitro. Sodium lauryl sulfate (0.000375 g/ml) as a defaunation reagent was added into the culture solution and incubated anaerobically up to 24 h at $39^{\circ}C$. pH from defaunation was increased for all treatments from 6 h incubation times (p<0.01-0.001) compared with those from fauantion. Concentration of ammonia-N from defaunation is higher than that from faunation at 3 h (p<0.001), 12 h (p<0.05) and 24 h (p<0.001) incubation times. Defaunation decreased (p<0.01-0.001) total volatile fatty acid concentration at all incubation times. Molar proportions of $C_2$ (acetate, p<0.05-0.001) and butyrate (p<0.01-0.001) were also decreased by defaunation at all incubation times. Molar proportion of $C_3$ (propionate), however, was increased by defaunation at all incubation times (p<0.001). Thus the rate of $C_2$ to $C_3$ was decreased by defaunation at all incubation times (p<0.001). Defaunation decreased ED (effective degradability) of dry matter (p<0.001) and ED of neutral detergent fiber (p<0.001) of ryegrass hay. Defaunation decreased total gas, $CH_4$ production, $CH_4$ % in total gas and $CH_4/CO_2$ at all incubation times (p<0.001). Oil supplementation decreased total gas (p<0.05-0.001), $CH_4$ production (p<0.001) and $CH_4$ % in total gas (p<0.001) compared with control at all incubation times. The result of this study showed that defaunation combined with oil supplementation may cause an alteration of microbial communities and further medicate the fermentation pattern, resulting in both reduction of degradation of ryegrass hay and $CH_4$ production. No difference, however, was observed in all the examinations between SO and LO.
