        Linearity-Distortion Analysis of GME- TRC MOSFET for High Performance and Wireless Applications

        In this present paper, a comprehensive drain current model incorporating the effects of channel length modulation has been presented for multi-layered gate material engineered trapezoidal recessed channel (MLGME-TRC) MOSFET and the expression for linearity performance metrics, i.e. higher order transconductance coefficients: gm1, gm2, gm3, and figure-of-merit (FOM) metrics; VIP2, VIP3, IIP3 and I-dB compression point, has been obtained. It is shown that, the incorporation of multi-layered architecture on gate material engineered trapezoidal recessed channel (GME-TRC) MOSFET leads to improved linearity performance in comparison to its conventional counterparts trapezoidal recessed channel (TRC) and rectangular recessed channel (RRC) MOSFETs, proving its efficiency for low-noise applications and future ULSI production. The impact of various structural parameters such as variation of work function, substrate doping and source/drain junction depth (Xj) or negative junction depth (NJD) have been examined for GME- TRC MOSFET and compared its effectiveness with MLGME-TRC MOSFET. The results obtained from proposed model are verified with simulated and experimental results. A good agreement between the results is obtained, thus validating the model.

        Impact of video product presentation and scarcity claim on mobile-based impulse buying

        The introduction of mobile shopping apps has resulted in the growth of impulse buying or excessive compulsion, especially in the fashion industry. This paper aims to establish a relationship between app stimuli (including performance expectancy, effort expectancy, atmosphere, layout, and privacy and security) and impulse buying behaviour. Besides this, it also examines the moderating effects of the video product presentation and product scarcity claim and the mediating effects of impulse buying intention and user satisfaction. The study was carried out in two phases. In the first phase, a paired t-test analysis was carried out to compare the mean of each set. This was followed by multi-group structural equation modelling to check the model’s validity. The results show that while video product presentation produced a significant difference between impulse buying intention and impulse buying behaviour for both the male and female respondents, scarcity claims achieved positive results only for male participants. The SEM results, meanwhile, demonstrated that both the mediating variables bear a relationship to performance expectancy, privacy and security, and impulse buying behaviour. However, effort expectancy was only related to impulse buying intention, while atmosphere and layout were exclusively associated with user satisfaction. Based on the findings of the study, theoretical and managerial implications are presented.

      • Comparison of Effects of Hemoglobin Levels Upon Tumor Response among Cervical Carcinoma Patients Undergoing Accelerated Hyperfractionated Radiotherapy versus Cisplatin Chemoradiotherapy

        Purpose: Blood hemoglobin levels are known to influence response to radiotherapy. This retrospective analysis compared the effect of hemoglobin levels upon response to radiation among patients treated with radiation alone (by accelerated hyperfractionated radiotherapy) versus those treated with concurrent cisplatin chemoradiotherapy. Materials and Methods: Among patients treated for locally advanced carcinoma of the cervix (LACC) during 2009-10, a total of 60 fulfilled the eligibility criteria. In this time frame, external beam radiotherapy was delivered with either concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT, n=31) (45Gy over 25 fractions, with weekly cisplatin at 40mg/m2), or with accelerated hyperfractionated radiotherapy (AHRT, n=29) (20Gy over 10 daily fractions over the first two weeks, followed by 30Gy over 20 fractions over the next two weeks, with two fractions of 1.5Gy per day, without the use of chemotherapy). Mean weekly hemoglobin (MWH) levels of all patients were calculated as the arithmetic means of weekly recorded blood hemoglobin levels. As per MWH, patients in both of the AHRT or the CRT groups were classified into two subgroups-those with MWH between 10-10.9g/dL, or with MWH>11g/dL. Complete response (CR) to external beam RT phase (prior to brachytherapy) was declared after clinical examinations and computed tomography. The CR rate was noted for both MWH sub-groups within each of the AHRT and CRT groups. Results: Within the AHRT group, patients with MWH>11g/dL had a much better CR rate in comparison to those with MWH:10-10.9g/dL (80% vs. 21.1%) which was statistically significant (p 0.0045). Within the CRT group, there was no significant difference in the outcomes within the MWH>11g/dL and MWH:10-10.9g/dL sub-groups (CR rates of 80% vs. 61.9%, p=0.4285). Conclusions: The importance of maintaining a minimum hemoglobin level of 11g/dL during RT is much greater for patients treated with RT alone, than for patients treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Enhanced haemoglobin levels during RT may to an extent negate the ill-effects that may otherwise arise due to non-use of concurrent chemotherapy.

        Deciphering Key Genes of Proliferative and Secretory Phase Using Integrated Transcriptomics and Network Analysis

        Endometrium receptivity is a complex mechanism of intricate pathways that lead to the shift from the proliferative to the secretory phase. Our goal was to identify high-ranking differentially expressed genes and study the pathways associated with the phenomenon. Raw data were retrieved from six GEO datasets and 705 DEGs were identified through robust ranking aggregation after the integration of five datasets. 20 key genes were identified that were further re-validated in an additional dataset. Supporting evidence through the experimental references confirms them as major biomarkers of the shift from the proliferative to the secretory phase.

        A smart metasurface for scanning deep brain tissues at 1.5T MRI

        Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a dual phase clinical diagnostic procedure based on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). In the transmission phase, the body protons are stimulated by an externally applied RF field. During the reception phase, the excited protons release RF signals which are used for imaging. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of scanned images can be improved by enhancing the RF magnetic flux density. However, high strength of RF magnetic fields during excitation might cause tissue heating and inhomogeneous field distribution in the subject under scan. Selective enhancement of RF magnetic flux density solely during the imaging phase is required for averting tissue heating and image artifacts while maintaining high SNR. In order to facilitate this, we report a nonlinear metasurface which could act as a dynamic supplement to transceiver MRI coils for obtaining images with higher spatial resolution or faster acquisition while maintaining low specific absorption rate (SAR).

        Aldose Reductase: a cause and a potential target for the treatment of diabetic complications

        Diabetes mellitus, a disorder of metabolism,results in the elevation of glucose level in the blood. In thishyperglycaemic condition, aldose reductase overexpressesand leads to further complications of diabetes through thepolyol pathway. Glucose metabolism-related disorders arethe accumulation of sorbitol, overproduction of NADH andfructose, reduction in NAD + , and excessive NADPH usage,leading to diabetic pathogenesis and its complications suchas retinopathy, neuropathy, and nephropathy. Accumulationof sorbitol results in the alteration of osmotic pressureand leads to osmotic stress. The overproduction of NADHcauses an increase in reactive oxygen species productionwhich leads to oxidative stress. The overproduction of fructosecauses cell death and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Apart from these disorders, many other complications havealso been discussed in the literature. Therefore, the articleoverviews the aldose reductase as the causative agent and apotential target for the treatment of diabetic complications. So, aldose reductase inhibitors have gained much importanceworldwide right now. Several inhibitors, like derivativesof carboxylic acid, spirohydantoin, phenolic derivatives,etc. could prevent diabetic complications are discussedin this article.

        Effectiveness of online versus in-person structured training program on arterial blood gas, electrolytes, and ventilatory management of critically ill patients

        Background: Due to the risk of viral transmission during in-person training, a shift towardonline platforms is imperative in the current pandemic. Therefore, we compared the effectivenessof an in-person interactive course with a structurally similar online course designedto improve cognitive skills among clinical health professionals in arterial blood gas analysis,management of electrolyte imbalances, and approaches to mechanical ventilation in criticallyill patients. Methods: In an observational, outcome assessor-blinded, cohort trial, group A included participantsenrolled prospectively in an online course, while group B included those who tookpart in an in-person course (retrospective arm). The primary objective was comparison ofcognitive skills through a pre and post-test questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performedusing Student t-test. Results: In total, 435 participants were analyzed in group A, while 99 participants were evaluatedin group B. The mean pre-test score was 9.48±2.75 and 10.76±2.42, while the meanpost-test score was 11.94±1.90 (passing rate, 64.6%) and 12.53±1.63 (passing rate, 73.3%)in groups A and B, respectively. Group B scored significantly higher in both pre-test (P=0.001)and post-test evaluations (P=0.004). The improvement in post-test score was significantlygreater (P=0.001) in group A (2.46±2.22) compared to group B (1.77±1.76). The medicalspecialties fared better in group B, while surgical specialties scored higher in group A. Thepre-test vs. post-test scores exhibited a moderate correlation in both groups (P<0.001). Thefeedback survey showed a Likert score >3.5 for most points in both groups. Conclusions: The online teaching module exhibited a significant benefit in terms of participantsensitization and knowledge sharing.

        Evaluation of the Effect of Continuous Infusion of Dexmedetomidine or a Subanesthetic Dose Ketamine on Transcranial Electrical Motor Evoked Potentials in Adult Patients Undergoing Elective Spine Surgery under Total Intravenous Anesthesia: A Randomized Co

        Study Design: Prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind exploratory study. Purpose: To compare effects of dexmedetomidine or a subanesthetic dose of ketamine on the amplitude and latency of transcranial electrically generated motor evoked potentials. Overview of Literature: Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is a standard anesthesia technique for transcranial electrical motor evoked potential monitoring in spine surgery. We aimed to determine whether the use of dexmedetomidine and ketamine as a component of TIVA exerted any beneficial effect on the quality of monitoring. Methods: A total of 90 American Society of Anesthesiologist grade I–III patients, aged 18–65 years, with a motor power of ≥4/5 grade as per the Medical Research Council Scale in all four limbs who were scheduled for elective spine surgery under transcranial electrical motor evoked potential monitoring were enrolled. The subjects were randomly allocated into the following three groups: group PD who received 0.5 µg/kg/hr dexmedetomidine infusion, group PK who received 0.5 mg/kg/hr ketamine infusion, and group PS who received normal saline infusion, along with standard propofol–fentanyl based TIVA regime. Amplitude and latency of bilateral motor evoked potentials of the tibialis anterior and abductor halluces muscle were recorded at Ti (at train-of-four ratio >90%), T30 (30 minutes post-Ti), T60 (60 minutes post-Ti), and Tf (at the end of spine manipulation). Results: Baseline median amplitudes were comparable among the study groups. In group PK, we noted a gradually enhanced response by 24%–100% from the baseline amplitude. The median amplitudes of all the muscles were higher in group PK than those in groups PS and PD at time points T60 and Tf (p<0.05). Conclusions: The present study demonstrated that compared with dexmedetomidine and control treatment, a subanesthetic dose of ketamine caused gradual improvement in amplitudes without affecting the latency.
