Utilization of carbon sources by Bacillus cereus D324, a biological control agent, and Pythium species, which causes rice seedling disease, was studied with the objective of increasing the efficacy of biological control by providing the biological control agent with specific beneficial carbon sources. D-galactose, D-sorbitol, and D-mannitol were poor carbon sources for Pythium spp. growth but were good for B. cereus D324 growth. Growth in a growth chamber of rice seeds coated with B. cereus D324 amended with specific carbon sources, such as D-galactose and D-sorbitol, showed significantly enhanced seedling emergence compared to seeds coated only with B. cereus D324. Field trials showed that both seedling emergence and yield increased, when the above specific carbon sources were added to B. cereus D324 in seed coating formulations. This result indicated that amending seed coating formulations with specific carbon sources could significantly increase seedling emergence and yield in the field.

<P>Temporal geo-climatic variations are presumably vital determinants of phenotypic traits and quality characteristics of berries manifested through reconfigured metabolomes. We performed an untargeted mass spectrometry (MS)-based metabolomic analysis of blueberry (<I>Vaccinium</I> spp.) and chokeberry (<I>Aronia melanocarpa</I>) sample extracts harvested from different geo-climatic regions in Korea. The multivariate statistical analysis indicated distinct metabolite compositions of berry groups based on different species and regions. The amino acids levels were relatively more abundant in chokeberry than in blueberry, while the sugar contents were comparatively higher in blueberry. However, the metabolite compositions were also dependent on geo-climatic conditions, especially latitude. Notwithstanding the cultivar types, amino acids, and sucrose were relatively more abundant in berries harvested from 35°N and 36°N geo-climatic regions, respectively, characterized by distinct duration of sunshine and rainfall patterns. At present, China has launched a vigorous campaign of the new rural construction campaign from top to bottom, central and fundamental levels of government try to find an effective solution to the crux of the problem restricting China's rural development and explore the rural modernization developmental model. The strategy about 'Urbanization Constructions of Rural Areas' as the core of the 'New Rural Construction' Plan has been decided by the central government of China. This thesis was focused on FanChang County which in the southern part of Anhui Province as an epitome including 'administration reform', 'economic construction' and 'education and welfare', those three aspects to research the improvement plan of urbanization strategy of China's rural areas. Firstly, 'administration reform' including two parts of aspect. The one is from the aspect of re-planning of the rural area administrative organs, The another one is personnel employment system and the public servant appraisal system, Secondly, 'economic construction' including four parts of aspect. They are the infrastructure constructions, industrialization constructions, real estate development, and developing specialty industries. Thirdly, 'education and welfare' including three parts of aspect. They are school education, medical care, and social insurance.
