        Consumerism Interpretation of Character Tragedies in the Movie Lolita

        영화 〈로리타〉는 1962년에 영국의 유명한 감독 스탠리 큐브릭(Stanley Kubrick)이 창작한 작품입니다. 영화 주제 때문에 그 당시에 큰 사회적 논쟁을 불러 일으켰다. 〈로리타〉는 스탠리 큐브릭 감독이 처음 독립적으로 제작된 영화 작품이었다. 유럽에서 온 험버트 교수와 자신의 의붓딸 로리타와의 불륜적 사랑에 대한 이야기를 담고 있다. 영화 전체를 통틀어도 난륜을 소재로 한 영화는 고귀함과 아름다움을 느껴줌으로써 사람들에게 충격을 주었다. 또한 미국의 사회 현실을 블랙 유머 아이러니 방식으로 완벽하게 보여주었다. 그 사이에 이 영화의 무성한 비극적 특징도 관객들을 강하게 감염시킨다. 현재 영화 〈로리타〉에 대한 연구는 대체로 감독 큐브릭 영화의 블랙유머 기법 연구, 영화의 패러디 기법 탐구, 그리고 소설 『로리타』와 영화 〈로리타〉의 차이 등에 집중되어 있다. 본 연구는 소비주의 이론을 토대로 영화 〈로리타〉에 반영된 사회 현실을 분석하고, 소비주의 사회의 전형적인 특징, 즉 향락주의와 몰락한 가정 관계를 밝혔으며, 또한 소비주의 사회가 어떻게 로리타의 비극적 인생을 초래했는지 살펴보았다. The movie Lolita is directed by the famous director Stanley Kubrick in the United Kingdom in 1962. Due to the movie theme, it produced a great social dispute at that year. Lolita was Stanley Kubrick’s first independently produced film. It tells the story of the abnormal love between Professor Humbert from Europe and his stepdaughter Lolita. Throughout the film, it shocked people by feeling honourable and aesthetic although the theme is about commit incest. The director also completely shown the social reality of the United States in a black humor irony method. By the meantime, the lush tragic feature of the film also strongly infects the audience. Current studies on the movie Lolita mainly focus on the following aspects: firstly, the black humor techniques of director Kubrick"s movies, secondly, the parody techniques of the movie, and thirdly, the differences between the original novel Lolita and the adapted movie. In the American society where consumerism constitutes the mainstream, instead of sticking to traditional moral concepts, people pursue material enjoyment. Based on the consumerism theory, this paper analyzes the social reality revealed by the movie Lolita, presents such typical characteristics of the consumerist society as hedonism and broken family relations, and explains how the consumerist society leads to Lolita"s tragic life.

      • Mitigating SYN flooding Attack and ARP Spoofing in SDN Data Plane

        As the number of network devices increases rapidly, it becomes more and more difficult to defend network attacks. Large-scaled attacks, such as SYN flooding, may lead to heavy burden to the switches as well as the controller in a software defined network (SDN). In this paper, we investigate the SYN flooding and Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) spoofing attacks in SDN, and then propose mechanisms to address these two attacks. We also present a new scheme to detect SYN flooding by using only a few forwarding rules. Moreover, we utilize the Programming Protocol-independent Packet Processors (P4) technique to mitigate the burden of the controller.

        Rapid Screening of Maize Inbred Lines Based on NIR-MIR Spectral Characteristics and Small-molecule Metabolites

        Near-infrared (NIR), Mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy and Gas chromatography -mass spectrometry (GC-MS) combined with principal component analysis (PCA) were used to preliminarily select suitable maize parents that can be further employed in future breeding process. Especially, a new matrix was innovatively developed in terms of metabolic components, and used for PCA. Firstly, the quality maize seeds were selected based on the score plots from PCA of NIR, MIR, fusion of NIR and MIR, and GC-MS. Then, the potential biomarkers, including phenol, propionic acid, DL-malic acid, L-valine, which have great influence on the selection of quality maize seeds, were confirmed based on the loading plots from PCA of GC-MS and MIR spectral data. Finally, the quantitative analysis of partial biomarkers for selected parents was carried based on GC-MS method. The selected suitable maize parents were further confirmed by the difference of biomarkers contents. The results showed that NIR, MIR, and GC-MS combined with PCA are as rapid, convenient analysis methods, and can be thus employed for future maize breeding process.

        Efficient, long-life and Lambertian source of top-emitting white OLEDs using low-reflectivity molybdenum anode and co-doping technology

        A top-emitting white organic electroluminescent device (TWOLED) established on low-reflectivity molybdenum (Mo) anode (R~58% in visible range) for alleviating the undesirable microcavity effect and achieving broad as well as similar emission spectra at different viewing angles has been demonstrated based on a dual-layer emitter composed of doped blue and yellow dopant in the same blue host. The electroluminescent (EL) efficiency and operational lifetime of TWOLED can be further enhanced by a factor of 1.2 and 3.4, respectively, when a co-doping technology of adding another blue dopant into the yellow emitter was incorporated. The enhanced efficiency is attributed to the improved energy transfer from blue host to yellow dopant by cascade process.         Fabrication of polyacrylic acid-based composite binders with strong binding forces on copper foils for silicon anodes in lithium-ion batteries

        The commercial application of silicon (Si) anodes with high theoretical capacity is hampered by the poorcyclic stability because the huge volume change of Si during discharge/charge processes results in thepulverization of electrode materials and the electric contact loss of electrode materials with copper(Cu) foils. Binders play an important role for adhering active materials and conductive additives togetheronto Cu foils. Herein, we design and develop a three-dimensional networked composite binder (PAA-co-SN) via an amidation reaction between polyacrylic acid (PAA) and thiourea (SN). The granular anchors(CuxS) are constructed at the interface between PAA-co-SN binders and Cu foils, resulting from the reactionof S and Cu during the drying processes of Si electrodes. When used as binders for Si nanoparticles,they exhibit stable cyclic performance (1580 mAh g1 after 500 cycles). The anchoring mechanismbetween composite binders and Cu foils provides a strategy for the improvement of electrochemicalproperties of Si-based anodes for lithium-ion batteries.

        Training-free neural architecture search: A review

        The goal of neural architecture search (NAS) is to either downsize the neural architecture and model of a deep neural network (DNN), adjust a neural architecture to improve its end result, or even speed up the whole training process. Such improvements make it possible to generate or install the model of a DNN on a small device, such as a device of internet of things or wireless sensor network. Because most NAS algorithms are time-consuming, finding out a way to reduce their computation costs has now become a critical research issue. The training-free method (also called the zero-shot learning) provides an alternative way to estimate how good a neural architecture is more efficiently during the process of NAS by using a lightweight score function instead of a general training process to avoid incurring heavy costs. This paper starts with a brief discussion of DNN and NAS, followed by a brief review of both model-dependent and model-independent training-free score functions. A brief introduction to the search algorithms and benchmarks that were widely used in a training-free NAS will also be given in this paper. The changes, potential, open issues, and future trends of this research topic are then addressed in the end of this paper.

        중국 중견기업의 에어컨 디자인 아이덴티티 구축에 관한 연구

        본 논문은 춘란 회사의 제품을 대상으로 제품 디자인 아이덴티티로 기업 브랜드 이미지를 높일 수 있는 방법을 설명하였다. 본 논문의 연구를 통해 아래와 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 표준화된 제품 시스템 전략의 수립은 기업의 경영 이념과 기업 철학을 구현한다. 둘째, 제품 개발의 본질은 소비자를 향해야 한다. 기업브랜드 이미지는 전달의 매체이기 때문에 브랜드는 더 이상 붙여지는 상표가 아닌 기업 이미지 형상을 만드는 것이기 때문이다. 셋째, 제품 디자인은 더 이상 단일 제품의 디자인이 아니다. 기업의 전략 계획에 포함되어야 하며 기업의 경영 이념까지 결합하여 브랜드 전략 등을 입안해야 한다. 이를 통해 전체 제품 디자인 아이덴티티를 수립한다. 넷째, 성공한 기업의 제품 이미지는 독창적이고 통일적인 제품 디자인에서 나타나기 때문에 전체적인 기업 아이덴티티를 심어줄 수 있다. 따라서 중소기업도 이와 같은 전략을 수립해야 한다. 다섯째, 소비자의 제품에 대한 니즈를 분석해야 한다. 이를 통해 제품은 소비자들로 하여금 재구매하는 제품 디자인 아이덴티티가 포함되어 있어야 한다. 마지막으로 독창적이며 통일적인 제품이미지를 만들어 차별화 전략을 수립해야 한다. 그리하여 기업이 자체 및 다른 경쟁 기업과 다른 이미지를 수립할 수 있어야 한다. With the rapid development of national power and economic strength of China, China is showing up on the world-class stage. Chinese enterprises are facing enormous challenges and opportunities. Meanwhile, medium-sized enterprises are the significant motivation of the development of China"s economic growth and 56.6% of added value of the new coming industry are made by them. However, those medium-sized enterprises are relatively developing late and still remain fragmented, single design level on product design, without taking the unity and coherence between enterprises of all products into consideration. Product design identity is based on the concept of corporate culture, and to the system of unified principles for product design style. The product design reflects the unique characteristics of the culture also get consumers love the product value and support the enterprise. Product identity (PDI) is an important component of corporate identity. In this thesis, we take Chinese medium-sized enterprises-Chunlan company as an example. Through the analysis of the status of its business and product design that we made the strategic direction of development for medium-sized enterprises such as Chunlan company.

        Use of High-performance Graphics Processing Units for Power System Demand Forecasting

        Load forecasting has always been essential to the operation and planning of power systems in deregulated electricity markets. Various methods have been proposed for load forecasting, and the neural network is one of the most widely accepted and used techniques. However, to obtain more accurate results, more information is needed as input variables, resulting in huge computational costs in the learning process. In this paper, to reduce training time in multi-layer perceptron-based short-term load forecasting, a graphics processing unit (GPU)-based computing method is introduced. The proposed approach is tested using the Korea electricity market historical demand data set. Results show that GPU-based computing greatly reduces computational costs.

        Comparison of Apixaban and Low Molecular Weight Heparin in Preventing Deep Venous Thrombosis after Total Knee Arthroplasty in Older Adults

        Purpose: To compare the effect of apixaban and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in the prevention and treatment of deepvenous thrombosis (DVT) after total knee arthroplasty in older adult patients. Materials and Methods: A total of 220 patients (average age of 67.8±6.4 years) undergoing total knee arthroplasty were randomlyselected as research subjects and were divided into apixaban and LMWH groups (110 in each group). Results: The incidence of DVT was lower in the apixaban group than in the LMWH group (5.5% vs. 20.0%, p=0.001). Activatedpartial thromboplastin times (35.2±3.6 sec vs. 33.7±2.2 sec, p=0.010; 37.8±4.6 sec vs. 34.1±3.2 sec, p<0.001; 39.6±5.1 sec vs. 35.7±3.0sec, p=0.032) and prothrombin times (14.0±1.0 sec vs. 12.8±0.9 sec, p<0.001; 14.5±1.2 sec vs. 13.0±1.1 sec, p<0.001; 15.3±1.4 sec vs. 13.2±1.3 sec, p=0.009) in the apixaban group at 1 week after surgery, 3 weeks after surgery, and the end of treatment were higherthan those in the LMWH group. Platelet and fibrinogen levels in the apixaban group were lower than those of the LMWH group. Also, capillary plasma viscosity and erythrocyte aggregation in the apixaban group at 1 week after surgery, 3 weeks after surgery,and the end of treatment were lower than those in the LMWH group. Conclusion: Apixaban, which elicits fewer adverse reactions and is safer than LMWH, exhibited better effects in the preventionand treatment of DVT after total knee arthroplasty in older adults.

        Efficient degradation of azo dye by dual-doped photo-enhanced Fentonlike catalysts in magnetic suspension reactor

        Fenton-like catalysts have sparked enormous interest from academic to industrial fields because of theirexcellent degradability and offered a promising platform for the effective treatment of wastewater. However, it remains a grand challenge to balance their catalytic performance and corrosion resistancefor industrial application. To address this issue, we report Cr and C dual-doped photo-enhancedFenton-like catalysts (Cr, C-FeSiB) in which Cr functions as a corrosion inhibitor to improve recycling performanceand C acts as an electron transfer accelerator to raise the cycle efficiency of iron ions duringcomplex Fenton-like reactions. Moreover, we design a low energy-consumption magnetic-suspensionlikereactor in which Fenton-like catalysts can work as micro-scaled stirrers to enhance the mass transferefficiency during the Fenton-like reactions owing to their soft magnetic property.
