        Sulfonated poly(styrene-b-ethylene-co-butylene-b-styrene) and fullerene composites for ionic polymer actuators.

        <P>Ionic polymer-metal composite (IPMC) actuators employing sulfonated poly(styrene-b-ethylene-co-butylene-b-styrene) (SSEBS) ionomer and fullerene-C60 composite membrane were developed. Due to the poor electroactive performance of IPMC actuators employing pure SSEBS, fullerenes as the reinforcement agent are incorporated. The bending responses under both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) excitations were investigated. Compared with the actuator based on pure SSEBS, the tip displacement of IPMC actuator based on Fullerene-SSEBS composites has great improvement under DC excitations, and also the responses are quick and harmonic under AC excitations. More meaningful improvement is that Fullerene-SSEBS based IPMC actuators don't have back relaxation towards the cathode under DC activation for a long time. SEM study was carried out on the samples of Fullerene-SSEBS actuators. Platinum layers were finely synthesized on the interfaces of Fullerene-SSEBS actuators. Present results show that the fullerene, C60, can be successfully applied to reinforce the electro-mechanical properties of the ionic polymer metal composite actuators.</P>

        Electro-active polymer actuators employing sulfonated poly(styrene-ran-ethylene) as ionic membranes

        <P>We first investigated sulfonated poly(styrene-ran-ethylene) (SPSE) as a novel ionic membrane for electro-active polymer actuators. SPSE is a newly developed hydrocarbon ionomer synthesized through a post-sulfonation procedure. The thermal, electrical, morphological and mechanical properties, as well as ion-exchange capacity, proton conductivity and water uptake were investigated and compared to a Nafion<SUP>®</SUP> counterpart. Tensile tests revealed that the SPSE membrane has good mechanical stiffness and strength while immersed in water. SPSE copolymers have good thermal stability and are easily processed for the production of membranes. In this study, SPSE actuators were fabricated according to traditional ionomeric polymer–metal composite preparation procedures and tailored to moderate dimensions. The bending responses of the SPSE actuators under both AC and DC electric excitations were investigated. The voltage–current behaviors of the actuators under AC excitation were also measured. The results showed that the SPSE actuators have good electromechanical performance with regard to tip displacement.         The Characteristics and Distribution of Eukaryotic Phytoplankton Community in Liaodong Bay, China

        Brown tides have occurred in the Bohai Sea of China since 2009 and caused serious losses in aquaculture. In recent years, phytoplankton identification has been greatly promoted by the development of high-throughput sequencing technologies. In this study, V4 region of 18S rDNA was used as the target gene to design the primer V4 (F/R), and high-throughput sequencing technology was adopted to evaluate the diversity of composition and characteristics of the eukaryotic phytoplankton community. A total of 93 alga species were identified, and about 60% (56 out of 93) of them were undetected or unreported in Chinese waters. There were 59% of the total algal species identified as autotrophy in trophic mode while heterotrophy and mixotrophy accounted for 12% and 29% of the total algal species, respectively. 8 species of picophytoplankton that were mainly distributed in the south and a partial area of the east and west formed the scientific basis for the quality and safety early-warning in aquatic products and brown rides study. Diversity index analysis also revealed a trend of fluctuations of marine phytoplankton diversity in different sample sites in Liaodong Bay. In conclusion, our work provides a detailed evaluation of eukaryotic phytoplankton diversity in Liaodong Bay, suggesting the need for long-term monitoring to further study and guard against the potential risk of harmful algal blooms.

        韓愈古文的實詞作法

        This article aims to discuss shici (or real word in literal meaning) in Han Yu’s classical prose. The term “shici,” here is applied in contrast to “xuci,” (empty word in literal meaning, or functional word, or structural particle in linguistics terminology). In the first place, we, by means of accumulating theoretical criteria on shici usage, represented by Han Yu himself, his posterity, and contemporary scholars, will examine whether Han Yu has a special contribution on shici, or not? Besides close textual reading, I make reference back to works on pingdianxue (extra-textual commentary study) of successive dynasties, these works include some considerably stylistic modes, which have ever been raised by former literati, and then try to epitomize the treatment of shici by Han Yu in his classical prose. In overall, his use of shici shows us some cases as follows: (1) penetrating over all prose by virtue of shici, (2) his own innovation of shici, (3) his accurate paraphrase by shici, (4) conveying spirit by a single shici, (5) revitalizing obsolete word by shici, (6) Not in the case of consecutive use, in different places in the article using the same shici. With analytical approach of various shici examples, and theirs usage in classical prose structure, it helps us reaffirm his artistic value on Chinese literature.

        REVIEW : Intestinal Stricture in Crohn`s Disease

        Crohn`s disease (CD) is a disease with chronic inflammation of unknown etiology involving any part of the gastrointestinal tract. The incidence and prevalence of CD are increasing recently in Asia. Half of the CD patients will have intestinal complica-tions, such as strictures or fistulas, within 20 years after diagnosis. Twenty-five percentage of CD patients have had at least one small bowel stricture and 10% have had at least one colonic stricture and lead to significant complications. Most of these pa-tients will require at least one surgery during their lifetime. Early diagnosis and evaluation with adequate managements for the patients can prevent disability and mortality of these patient. Here, we reviewed the current incidence of CD with stricture, the etiology of stricture, and how to diagnose and manage the stricture. (Intest Res 2015;13:19-26)

        China and South Korea, as friendly neighbors across the sea, have in-depth exchanges and cooperation in politics, economy, culture, science and technology. Among them, the creation of co-production films is the main line of exchanges between culture and art. From the perspective of cultural community, the coproduction between China and South Korea shows the dual manifestation of the conflict of cultural differences and the direction of cultural fusion. In view of the problems existing in the national ideology, cultural development process, cultural affinity cognition and film and television art creation of china-south Korea coproductions, the two countries should strengthen cultural exchanges, expand the transnational narrative thinking of films, and promote the film"s deep cooperation, so as to make it a successful video practice to build a cultural community.

        Two new triterpenoid saponins derived from the leaves of Panax ginseng and their antiinflammatory activity

        Background: The leaves and roots of Panax ginseng are rich in ginsenosides. However, the chemical compositionsof the leaves and roots of P. ginseng differ, resulting in different medicinal functions. In recent years,the aerial parts of members of the Panax genus have received great attention fromnatural product chemistsas producers of bioactive ginsenosides. The aim of this study was the isolation and structural elucidation ofnovel, minor ginsenosides in the leaves of P. ginseng and evaluation of their antiinflammatory activity in vitro. Methods: Various chromatographic techniques were applied to obtain pure individual compounds, andtheir structures were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance and high-resolution mass spectrometry,as well as chemical methods. The antiinflammatory effect of the new compounds was evaluated onlipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Results and conclusions: Two novel, minor triterpenoid saponins, ginsenoside LS1 (1) and 5,6-didehydroginsenoside Rg3 (2), were isolated from the leaves of P. ginseng. The isolated compounds 1and 2 were assayed for their inhibitory effect on nitric oxide production in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7cells, and Compound 2 showed a significant inhibitory effect with IC50 of 37.38 mM compared with that ofNG-monomethyl-L-arginine (IC50 ¼ 90.76 mM). Moreover, Compound 2 significantly decreased secretionof cytokines such as prostaglandin E2 and tumor necrosis factor-a. In addition, Compound 2 significantlysuppressed protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2. These resultssuggested that Compound 2 could be used as a valuable candidate for medicinal use or functional food,and the mechanism is warranted for further exploration.
