      • 골반염증성 질환과 질염을 가진 환자의 진단과 추적관찰에서 Chlamydia trachomatis의 검출을 위한 이중 중합효소 연쇄반응의 적용

        Objectives : PCR has generally been more sensitive than the conventional microbiological test for the detection of C.trachomatis which has been a leading cause of sexually transmitted disease. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of C.trachomatis infection in the patients with pelvic imflammatory disease(PID) and the usefulness of nested PCR as a follow-up test in patiens with C. trachomatis infection after administration of antibiotics. Methods: Cervical swab specimens were obtained from 187 patients with PID and vaginitis attending the Soonchunhyang Chunan Hospital. From the C. trachomatis positive patients, cervical swab specimens were obtained once a week after treatment until PCR tested negative. We performed the nested PCR with Chlamydia-CR kit(Bioneer, Korea.) Results: From 6(5.8%) of 187 cervical swab specimen, C. Trachomatis was detected by nested PCR. These patients were treated with doxycycline and metronidazole for 7 to 14 days. All of 6 C. trachomatis positive patients revealed PCR-negative immediately after the completion of antibiotics treatment. Conclusions: With the above results, the nested PCR is a relatively simple, fast, and practical tool for the detection of C. trachmatis and may be a useful follow-up test for monitoring the treatment effect.

        서부 경남 지역의 하악골 골절에 관한 임상통계학적 분석

        This is a clinicostatistical study of 578 patients with mandibular fractures who was treated at Gyeongsang National University Hospital during the period of 1988-1999. Results obtained were as follows. 1.In respect of incidence, The ratio of men to women was 5.0 : 1, The age frequency was the highest in the third decade(37.5%), The youngest patient was 3 years and the eldest patient was 87 years and mean age was 29.9 years, The year incidence was the highest frequency as 83 patients in 1998. The monthly incidence was the highest frequency as 66 patients in July auld the least frequency as 34 patients in December. 2.The most frequent cause was traffic accident as 198 patients(41.7%) and the next was fall down 161 patients(27.9%), violence as 112 patients(19.4%) in order. 3.The incidence of associated soft tissue and tooth injury was 62.6%, and concomitant injuries of other parts of body(26.5%) were most commonly caused by traffic accident(79.7%). 4.The most common location was symphysis as 361 number(40.9) and the sum of fracture sites were 925 and there were 1.6 fracture sites per one patient. The most common type of mandible fractures was closed simple type(82.9%) and the ratio of Left to Right except for symphysis was 1.5 : 1. 5.In respcet of treatment, the frequency of open reduction was 423 patients(73.2%) and the incidence of complication was 7.4% and the most common complication was infection

      • 실리콘의 TMAH 식각을 사용한 Suspended-type 마이크로 가스센서의 제조

        In recent years, different types of microfabricated 'suspended-type' structure have been used as freestanding membranes for a variety of micro gas sensors. We examined the silicon etching characteristics of tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide(TMAH). A suspended type micro gas sensor with platinum heater, sensing electrode and temperature sensor using TMAH etching of silicon was fabricated on silicon nitride(1,500Å)/ silicon dioxide (3,000Å)/ silicon nitride(1,500Å) dielectric membrane. It has low thermal conductivity and balanced stress with silicon substrate for the purpose of improving the thermal isolation between heater and silicon substrate. To avoid any chemical or physical damages to gas sensing material during the photolithography or shadow mask process, the tin dioxide film was deposited onto whole surface of device by using maskless electron beam(e-beam) evaporation technology. The power consumption of the fabricated device was about 40mW at the operating temperature of 250°C. In case of adding Pt(2wt.%) or Pd(2wt.%) catalyst, the sensitivity to CO was higher and the sensitivity to C_(4)H_(10) was higher than those to other gases, respectively.

      • 비만 여성을 대상으로 한 해조류 추출물의 국부처치와 운동 병행을 통한 지방분해 효과의 임상적 검정

        This study was carried out to test the body fat breakdown during topical seaweed extract treatment and in combination with the aerobic exercise. Of 20 female obesity subjects, ten treated a cream types of seaweed extract(control group) and ten treated a placebo cream(placebo group). Topical treatment of each sample was designed for 4 weeks, and treated with 2 times a day about 10ml on the abdomen and the thigh, respectively. All subjects were participated aerobic dance half hour a day and four times a week. After 4 weeks of topical treatment and exercise, they were measured body fat, skinfold thickness, body circumference. Then venous blood samples were taken and analyzed blood cells, serum enzymes, and serum lipids. There were reduction of body weight, % of body fat, antebrachium, brachium, chest, waist, thigh circumference and abdomen thickness between pre and post treatment in both group. Especially, body weight and % of body fat significantly reduced in the subjects treating the seaweed extract than those treating the placebo. There were significant decrement in total cholesterol and LDL whereas increment in HDL and TBIL in the control group, but no significant difference in the placebo group. In conclusion, there were 7.6% of body fat reduction during 4 weeks of aerobic exercise and 21% of body fat reducement in combination of topical seaweed treatment and exercise, respectively. These results suggest that the topical treatment of seaweed extract should be very effective for fat breakdown. Especially, the body fat breakdown maximized in the combination with the topical seaweed extracts treatment and the aerobic exercise.

        부산지역 조선업 협력업체 근로자들의 산업재해 관련요인

        목적: 조선업 협력업체의 재해율 및 재해자 특성을 파악하고,이들의 생활습관요인 및 사회 인구학적 요인을 포함하는 개인적 특성과,작업과 관련된 직업적 특성을 조사하여 산업재해 관련요인을 규명하고자 하였다. 방법: 2007년 5윌부터 7월까지,산업재해예방 안전교육을 실시한 부산지역 64개 조선업 협력 사업장의 생산직 근로자 1, 651명을 대상으로 개인적 특성,직업적 특성,산업재해 특성에 관해 자기기입식으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 산업재해는 최근 5년 이내에 1회 이상 발생한 경우로 한정하였고,재해로 인한 요양일수에 따라 Group I(요양일수 4일 미만). Group II(요양일수 4일 이상). Group III (Group I+Group II)로 구분하여 재해 경험이 없는 군과 비교하였다. 통계적 유의성이 있는 요인들을 파악한 후 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석을 시행하여 보정된 교차비를 산출하였다. 결과: 본 연구에서의 재해율은 2006년을 기준으로 전체 재해자가 125명, 7.57%, 4일 이상의 요양기간을 필요로 하는 재해자가 75명, 4.30%였다. 산업재해 발생건수는 취부 작업에서 가장 많이 발생하는 것으로 나타났고,산업재해보상보험 처리비율은 4일 이상 요양을 한 재해자 중 30%였다. 산업재해와의 관련성에 있어서 Group I에서는 대졸이상의 교육수준(OR 2.78), 높은 피로도(OR 2.18), Group II에서는 5시간미만의 수면시간(OR 3.47), 높은 피로도(OR 2.79), 주 56시간 이상의 작업시간(OR 1.53), Group III에서는 대졸이상의 교육수준(OR 1.78), 5시간미만의 수면시간(OR 2.98), 내쁜 수면의 질(OR 1. 65), 높은 피로도(OR 2.58)가 통계적 유의성이 있었다. 결론: 조선업 협력업체 근로자들을 대상으로 실시한 본 연구를 통하여 5시간 미만의 수면시간,나쁜 수면의 질,높은 피로도,주 56시간 이상의 작업시간,대졸이상의 교육수준이 산업재해 관련요인으로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 이들 사업장의 산업재해발생과 관련해서 개인적 생활습관, 작업 환경 및 작업 조건을 개선하는 등의 산업 재해 관련요인 관리가 중요할 것으로 판단된다. Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate both personal and work-related factors associated with occupational injuries of ship-building supply workers in Busan, Korea. Methods: A self-administered, questionnaire survey, asking both personal and work-related factors associated with occupational injuries, was administered to 1,651 workers from 64 different ship-building supply companies in Busan, Korea. All occupational injuries had occurred within the previous 5 years. The workers were divided into three sub-groups: Group I, under 4 day-sick leave, Group II, 4 day-sick leave and over, and Group III, which consisted of both Groups I and II. The statistical significance of the factors associated with occupational injuries underwent cross tabulation analysis for each group. Afterwards, the relationships between the factors which had statistical significance and the occurrence of occupational injuries were analyzed through multiple logistic regression by using the SPSS 12.0 K program. Results: The prevalence of occupational injuries was 4.30% in Group II and 7.57% in Group III. The work activities which had the most frequent occupational injuries were 'Fit-up' and 'Welding', and 30.0% of injured workers were covered by workers' compensation in Group II. According to the multiple logistic regression analysis results, the factors which had statistical significance in occupational injury occurrence were education level above college (OR 2.78) and high level of fatigue (OR 2.18) in Group I, sleeping less than 5 hours per day (OR 3.47), high level of fatigue (OR 2.79) and working over 56 hours per week (OR 1.53) in Group II, and education level above college (OR 1.78), sleeping less than 5 hours per day (OR 2.98), poor sleep quality (OR 1.65) and high level of fatigue (OR 2.58) in Group III. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that several factors of ship-building supply workers such as sleep hours, sleep quality, fatigue, working hours, and educational level exerted a statistical effect on the occurrence of occupational injuries, In association with occupational injuries occurrence, these factors need to be controlled by proper methods such as effective safety education, work condition modification, and life style management.

        Study on the Reproductive Function in Transgenic Pig Harboring Human Erythropoietin (hEPO) Gene

        Our previous study showed that transgenic (TG) pigs harboring human EPO (hEPO) gene have been shown to have reproductive disorders, including low pregnancy rates, irregular estrus cycle and low little size. To investigate these reasons, we assessed estrus behavior (standing response) and plasma 17B-estradiol (E2) level, which partly reflect reproductive function, during the estrus cycles after synchronization and superovulation by hormone treatments. Then, we analysed blood composition and expression of hEPO gene in TG pigs. Pigs were injected with PG600. After 10 days, pigs were fed with Regumate porcine for 6 days. Blood samples were collected from jugular vein. Analysis of blood composition and E2 level were measured by Hemavet 950 and E2 ELISA kit, respectively. And, the expression of hEPO gene in reproductive organs was quantitated by real-time RT-PCR. The percentage of estrus behavior in TG was significantly decreased. Hematocrit (HCT), hemoglobin (Hb) concentration and red blood cell (RBC) number were significantly higher in TG than wild type (WT). On the other hand, high expression of hEPO gene in TG was observed in the mammary gland as well as in the uterus. Moreover, plasma E2 level was significantly higher in TG than WT. These results suggest that nonspecific expression of hEPO gene in the other organs of TG may affect blood composition and plasma E2 level, thereby causing reproductive disorders.

      • Production of Recombinant Human Von Willebrand Factor in the Milk of Transgenic Pigs

        <P>Von Willebrand factor (vWF), a large multimeric glycoprotein present in blood plasma, is a blood protein of the coagulation system. It is defective in von Willebrand disease and is involved in a large number of other diseases, including thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura-hemolytic uremic syndrome and heyde's syndrome. We have developed a line of transgenic swine harboring recombinant human von Willebrand factor (rhvWF) cDNA through microinjection of fertilized one-cell pig zygotes. Expression of rhvWF in the mammary gland and secretion of rhvWF into the milk of the transgenic swine were confirmed by immunohistochemical and western blot analyses, respectively, and rhvWF proteins were detected in milk from all lactating founder females at concentrations that were 28- to 56-folds greater than that in circulating human plasma. The amino acid sequence of rhvWF protein in the transgenic pig milk matched that of vWF produced from human blood plasma. This study provides evidence that production of rhvWF from transgenic pig milk is a potentially valuable technology and can be used as a cost-effective alternative in clinical applications.</P>
