        The purpose of this study was to examine the subjective evaluation of texture images and preferences for cotton and cotton/mulberry blended fabrics in order to suggest the fabric planning for environment-friendly fashion products. Fifty male and female university students evaluated the texture images and preferences of cotton and cotton/mulberry blended fabrics dyed with natural indigo dye. For statistical analysis, frequency, mean, factor analysis, t-test, F-test and Pearson correlation. The results were as follows: The texture images of cotton and cotton/mulberry blended fabrics were classified into 4 factors: 'stiffness', 'elasticity', 'weight', and 'smoothness'. They evaluated significant differences according to the fiber content in the texture images for the fabrics. Also, there were partially significant differences by the gender in the texture images for the fabrics. Female students were more sensitive than males for the 'stiffness' and 'elasticity' factor. They were more preferred cotton fabrics than cotton/mulberry blended fabrics in terms of tactile and purchase preferences. The preferences of tactile were no different according to the gender, but there was significant difference according to the gender in terms of purchase preference.

        한국판 전두엽 기능 평가 검사(Frontal Assessment Battery;K-FAB)의 신뢰도와 타당도 연구

        The Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB) is a short cognitive and behavioral battery, comprising six subtests, for the bedside screening of global executive dysfunction. This study determined the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the FAB (K-FAB) among psychiatric patients. We enrolled 69 subjects with various psychiatric diagnosies, including alcohol dependence, and concurrently administered. Kim’s Frontal-Executive Function Neuropsychological Test (K-FENT). Forty-four subjects completed both the K-FENT and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST). Two physicians independently conducted the K-FAB. Eeach rater was blind to score of other rater. We compared the total K-FAB score to the K-FENT and WCST results to determine its concurrent validity. Finally, we obtained receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves to determine the optimum cut-off score. The internal consistency was sufficient (Cronbach’s alpha=0.797), and the K-FAB scores were highly correlated bet-ween the two raters. The total K-FAB score correlated significantly with EIQ (r=0.665, p<0.01), the summary score of the Executive Intelligence Test (EXIT). It also correlated with total number of correct responses, perseverative errors, and total number of catergories completed in WCST. At the cut-off value 13, the K-FAB showed good sensitivity (80%) and specificity (69%). The K-FAB is a useful and easy bedside test for screen-ing frontal-executive functional impairments in a variety of psychiatric patients.

        In this paper, we present conference key authentication mechanism by employing an algebraic method on IMT-2000 environment To accomplish this, Symmetric Balanced Incomplete block design is applied for generating the communication key and then this key is distributed to participants Through this technique for creating a conference key and mutual authentications performed based on identification information, the communication protocol is designed The protocol presented minimizes the transmission complexity for generating a conference key On a special case the time complexity is O(v√v), where v is the number of participant. The security of the mechanism, which is a significant problem in the construction of Secure system, can be, proved as computationally difficult to calculate as factoring and discrete logarithms.

      • Helicobacter pylori와 대장균의 Shuttle Vector 개발

        In this study, a vehicle vector using cryptic plasmids was constructed for gene transfer in Helicobacter pylori. pHP51(3.9 kb) and pHP489(1.2 kb) were selected for constructing vectors from cryptic plasmid of H. pylori isolates in Korea. The HindⅢ-digestedDNA fragment(1.2kb) of pHP489 and 1.6kb DNA fragment of pHP51 were ligated with a kanamycin resistance gene(aph3'-Ⅲ) from C. jejuni to produce the recombinant plasmids pHP489K and pHP51K, respectively. Transformation frequency of pHP51K by electroporation was low. But pHP489K could be effectively transformed into various H. pylori strains. In order to design an intermdiate vehicle vector for gene transfer into H. pylori, pBlueHP489K was prepared by recloning pHP489K DNA into pBluescript and pTZ19R vector. This vector permitted the DNA fragment containing pHP489 sequence, aph3'-Ⅲ, and cloned DNA to be cut and self-ligated in the SacⅠ site after cloning. ureA and ureB gene were inserted into pBlueHP489K, resulting in pBlueHP489K/AB. The DNA fragment containing pHP489, kanamycin resistance gene(aph3'-Ⅲ), and urease structural gene was cut away from pBlueHP489K/AB and self-ligated to generate pBlueHP489K/AB. pBlueHP489K/AB made urease-negative H. pylori strains restore their urease activity. By this experiment, pBlueHP489K was confirmed to be the vehicle system for transferring H. pylori genes.

      • Relative impact of amyloid-β, lacunes, and downstream imaging markers on cognitive trajectories

        <P>Amyloid-beta deposition and cerebral small vessel disease are major contributors to age-related cognitive decline. In a longitudinal study of mild cognitive impairment, Kim et al. show that amyloid-beta and lacunes have differing effects on cognitive trajectories. Amyloid-beta has a greater impact on memory, and lacune number on frontal-executive function.Amyloid-beta and cerebral small vessel disease are the two major causes of cognitive impairment in the elderly. However, the underlying mechanisms responsible for precisely how amyloid-beta and cerebral small vessel disease affect cognitive impairment remain unclear. We investigated the effects of amyloid-beta and lacunes on downstream imaging markers including structural network and cortical thickness, further analysing their relative impact on cognitive trajectories. We prospectively recruited a pool of 117 mild cognitive impairment patients (45 amnestic type and 72 subcortical vascular type), from which 83 patients received annual follow-up with neuropsychological tests and brain magnetic resonance imaging for 3 years, and 87 patients received a second Pittsburgh compound B positron emission tomography analysis. Structural networks based on diffusion tensor imaging and cortical thickness were analysed. We used linear mixed effect regression models to evaluate the effects of imaging markers on cognitive decline. Time-varying Pittsburgh compound B uptake was associated with temporoparietal thinning, which correlated with memory decline (verbal memory test, unstandardized beta = -0.79, P < 0.001; visual memory test, unstandardized beta = -2.84, P = 0.009). Time-varying lacune number was associated with the degree of frontoparietal network disruption or thinning, which further affected frontal-executive function decline (Digit span backward test, unstandardized beta = -0.05, P = 0.002; Stroop colour test, unstandardized beta = -0.94, P = 0.008). Of the multiple imaging markers analysed, Pittsburgh compound B uptake and the number of lacunes had the greatest association with memory decline and frontal-executive function decline, respectively: Time-varying Pittsburgh compound B uptake (standardized beta = -0.25, P = 0.010) showed the strongest effect on visual memory test, followed by time-varying temporoparietal thickness (standardized beta = 0.21, P = 0.010) and time-varying nodal efficiency (standardized beta = 0.17, P = 0.024). Time-varying lacune number (standardized beta = -0.25, P = 0.014) showed the strongest effect on time-varying digit span backward test followed by time-varying nodal efficiency (standardized beta = 0.17, P = 0.021). Finally, time-varying lacune number (beta = -0.22, P = 0.034) showed the strongest effect on time-varying Stroop colour test followed by time-varying frontal thickness (standardized beta = 0.19, P = 0.026). Our multimodal imaging analyses suggest that cognitive trajectories related to amyloid-beta and lacunes have distinct paths, and that amyloid-beta or lacunes have greatest impact on cognitive decline. Our results provide rationale for the targeting of amyloid-beta and lacunes in therapeutic strategies aimed at ameliorating cognitive decline.</P>

        朝鮮後期 女性文學의 文學史的 考察

        조선후기의 문인들은 京華士族이라는 명칭 아래 이전과는 다른 양상을 보여주는데, 그 특징은 서울을 주된 생활공간으로 하면서 地城的·黨派的·身分的 紐帯關係를 기반으로 하여 政 治的 活動·詩社活動에서 그룹적 성격을 지닌 집단을 형성하는 것이다. 서울의 도시적 발달과 생산성 향상은 삶의 방식에도 변화를 일으켜 사대부나 中庶계층의 심미적 취향이 확산되었다. 정치적으로 볼 때 조선후기는 탕평책 실시로 안정을 이룬 듯 보이면서도 노론의 湖洛분열과 남인의 淸濁대립에 時僻의 대립이 더하여 각 분파간의 정치적, 문화적 활동은 서로 대립적인 양상을 띠었고, 그러면서도 당색과 학파를 뛰어넘는 개방적인 집단 문화활동이 전개된다. 이러한 분위기는 女性作家들에게도 예외일 수 없어서 18,9세기에 이르러서는 女性作家들의 문학활동도 보다 활발해지면서 집단적인 모습을 보여준다. 이 時期 女性作家들의 문학활동이 남성들의 활동상황 내에 정식으로 편입되어 한 부분을 차지하였던 것 같지는 않으나, 여성의 문학활동에 대한 사회적 시선이 여전히 곱지 않았던 상황에서 여성작가들과의 詩社 活動은 그 의미가 크다고 하겠다. 이에 경화사족들이 서울 도성과 근교에서 시사 활동을 전개하였던 상황을 개략적으로 확인하면서, 이 시기의 여성작가들이 시사활동 등을 펼칠 수 있었던 서울의 도시적 분위기를 살펴보았다. 특히 한강변 五江樓·一碧亭을 시작으로 용산 三湖亭에서 본격적으로 詩會를 가지면서 詩作活動을 전개하였던 妓女出身으로 淵泉 金履陽의 小室이었던 金雲楚와 奎堂學士 金德熙의 小室로서 금강산 遊覽 紀行을 詩文으로 남긴 金錦園, 그리고 朴完彦의 庶女로 松湖 徐箕輔의 副室이었던 朴行西의 詩·文 作品 硏究를 통해 활동 상황을 고찰하였다. 그리고 조선 사대부 사회의 모범이라 할 만한 士大夫家 女性 徐令壽閤의 詩文學 硏究를 보충하여 朝鮮俊期 女性文學의 활발하고 다양했던 활동상황과 그 文學的 特徵을 總括하였다. 이러한 작업은 18,9세기 다양하고 활발하였던 韓國漢文學史上에 있어서 女性文學의 文學史的 의의를 재정립하기 위한 것이다. The literary men for the latter period of Chosen show an aspect different from before, under the name of Gyeonghwasajok (scholars based on Seoul), and its characteristic is a thing to form a group with a group nature in political activity and Sisa (Meeting of poetry coterie) activity on the basis of the regional, factious and social-standing relation, while making Seoul of a major living space. Seoul's urban development and productivity enhancement did bring about a change even in a way of life, thus the aesthetic fondness of Sadaebu or middle-class bracket was spreaded. Given seeing politically, while the latter period of Choweon seems to attain stability due to execution of Tangpyeongchaek, because of adding the Sibyeok's opposition to the Horak (a different theory of personality nature) disruption and Namin's confrontation of purity and impurity, the political and cultural activities of each branch did display mutually ambivalent aspect, at the same time the open group cultural activity beyond the party color and a doctrinal faction is unrolled. This atmosphere can not be exception even to female writers, and reaching the 18C and 19C, female writers' literary activities during this period seem not to have been included formally in men's activity circumstances and not to have possessed one portion, but under a situation that a social sight as to women's literary activity is not still favorable, female writers' Sisa activity can be said to have the large significance itself. Accordingly, while confirming roughly the circumstances which Gyeonghwa-sajok had unrolled Sisa activity in the capital city and around Seoul, ti did examine the urban atmosphere of Seoul where female writers during this period could spread the Sisa activities. In particular, it did consider the activity circumstances through a study on poetry and literature works of Kom Un cho who was Yeoncheon Kim I yang's concubine, as being from a Ginyeo who had developed a versification activity while having had a poetry association in earnest at Samhojeong(三湖亭) in Youngsan, starting from Ogangru(五江樓) and Ilbyeokjeong(一碧亭) on the riverside of Hangang river, Kim Keum won who did leave a traveler's sightseeing journal with poetry and prose, as a concubine of Kim Deok hi who is Grudanghaksa, and Park Jook seo who was a concubine of Songho Seo Gi bo, as an illegitimate daughter of Park Jong eon. Also, it did sum up the activity circumstances of female literature for the latter period of Choseon, Which were active and diversified, and its literary characteristic, by supplementing a study on poetry and literature of Seo yeongsuhap who is a woman of Sadaebu family enough to be said as an example of Choseon Sadaebu society. The purpose of this study is to reestablish the meaning of literary history for female literature in terms of Korean Chinese-literatures ideology which was diverse and active in the 18th and 19th century.

        Diallyl Sulfides (DAS) and Diallyl Disulfides (DADS) Exhibit a Suppressive Effect on the Proliferation and Migration of Vascular Smooth Muscle

        Previous studies report that organo-sulfur compounds derived from garlic inhibited smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation and induced apoptosis of cancer cells. Recently, lipid-soluble compounds such as diallyl sulfides (DAS) and diallyl disulfides (DADS) have been reported to more effectively suppress tumor cell proliferation. However, there were few studies on the suppressive effects of lipid-soluble garlic sulfur compounds on the proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC). Therefore, this study investigated the effect of DAS and DADS on VSMC proliferation/migration induced by oleic acid (OA), a principal fatty acid in circulating triglyceride of blood stream. Assays performed include a tetrazole (MTT) assay, a wound healing assay and a Western blots. VSMC proliferations were enhanced by OA in a dose-dependent manner at concentrations of $10{\sim}50\;{\mu}M$ and inhibited by DAS and DADS compared to non-treated control. OA-induced proliferations were also attenuated by DAS and DADS. OA-induced cell migrations were 2.5 times higher than non-treated control, and they were significantly attenuated by DAS (32% at $150\;{\mu}M$ and 50% at $200\;{\mu}M$) and DADS (40% at $150\;{\mu}M$ and 46% at $200\;{\mu}M$). OA-induced cell migration was also attenuated by PD98059 (ERK inhibitor), SB203580 (P38 inhibitor) and particularly by LY204002 (PI3K inhibitor) and SP600125 (JNK2 inhibitor). Additionally, Western blot assays showed that OA-induced JNK1/2-phosphorylation was down-regulated after treatment with DAS and DADS. In conclusion, the findings of our study support the idea that DAS and DADS may have a suppressive effect on the proliferation and migration of OA-induced VSMC and that this effect may be partly associated with PI3K and JNK2 pathways.

      • Long-distance transmission of broadband near-infrared light guided by a semi-disordered 2D array of metal nanoparticles

        <P>Near-infrared (NIR) waveguides are a key component of planar photonic devices such as optical communication couplers, image sensors, and spectroscopes for chemical or biological molecules. Conventional NIR waveguides used for signal transmission include silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguides and channel/ridge-type metal micro-strips. However, these waveguides usually have limitations of either signal delay or signal loss in optically integrated devices. In this study, a novel NIR waveguide composed of a semi-disordered array of metal nanoparticles (sDAMNPs) on Si substrate was proposed, fabricated, and tested. The disordered metallic nanoparticles array is geometrically localized in the form of 1D metal strips, thus replacing sDAMNPs with less lossy micro strip channel waveguides. From the measurements supported by various computational models, the fabricated waveguides operate effectively in the broadband NIR region (1100 to 1700 nm). The waveguide does not support signal transmission in the ultra violet-visible spectrum due to strong signal absorption, scattering, and localization effects inside the metal nanoparticles. Instead, it is capable of transmitting NIR over a distance longer than 100 μm (signal loss ∼3.85 dB per 100 μm for NIR from 1200 to 1600 nm), which is also sufficiently longer than the conventional surface plasmon polariton propagation distance at the metal-Si interface. Compared to a waveguide-free reference, the waveguide exhibited greatly improved signal transmission efficiency up to a factor of 7.42 × 10<SUP>4</SUP> at 1367 nm. It also exhibits a high deflection angle sensitivity of 1.89 dB per 0.01 rad, thus efficiently and straightly guiding the broadband NIR signal over a long distance.</P>
