Investigation of Capacitor Voltage Regulation in Modular Multilevel Converters with Staircase Modulation

Shen, Ke,Wang, Jianze,Zhao, Dan,Ban, Mingfei,Ji, Yanchao,Cai, Xingguo The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2014 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.14 No.2

This paper presents a detailed theoretical analysis and performance assessment of the capacitor voltage balancing strategies for staircase modulated modular multilevel converters (MMC) in terms of the algorithm structures, voltage balancing effect, and switching frequency. A constant-frequency redundancy selection (CFRS) method with minimal switching loss is proposed and the function realization of specific modules of the algorithm is given. This method is simple and efficient in both switching frequency and regulation capacity. Laboratory results show very good agreement with the theoretical analysis and numerical simulations.

      • Prognostic Significance of GSTP1, XRCC1 and XRCC3 Polymorphisms in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Patients

        Ke, Hong-Gang,Li, Jun,Shen, Yi,You, Qing-Sheng,Yan, Yu,Dong, Han-Xuan,Liu, Jun-Hua,Shen, Zhen-Ya Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.9

Aim: Individual differences in chemosensitivity and clinical outcome in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treatment with platinum-based chemotherapy may be due to genetic factors. Our study aimed to investigate the prognostic role of GSTP1, XRCC1 and XRCC3 in NSCLC patients treated with chemotherapy. Methods: A total of 460 cases were consecutively selected from The Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University between Jan. 2003 to Nov. 2006, and all were followed-up until Nov. 2011. Genotyping of GSTP1 Ile105Val, XRCC1 Arg194Trp, XRCC1 Arg399Gln and XRCC3 Thr241Met was conducted by duplex polymerase-chain-reaction with confronting-two-pair primer methods. Results: Patients with GSTP Val/Val exhibited a shorter survival time, and had a 1.89 fold greater risk of death than did those with the IIe/IIe genotype. For XRCC1 Arg194Trp, the variant genotype Trp/Trp was significantly associated with a decreased risk of death from NSCLC when compared with the Arg/Arg. Individuals carrying XRCC1 399Gln/Gln genotype had a longer survival time, with a lowered risk of death from NSCLC. Conclusion: This study indicated that GSTP1 Ile105Val, XRCC1 Arg194Trp and XRCC1Arg399Gln genes have a role in modifying the effect of platinum-based chemotherapy for NSCLC patients in a Chinese population. Our findings provide information for therapeutic decisions for individualized therapy in NSCLC cases.

The role of dislocations in cyclically deformed metal polycrystals

        Ke-Shen Cheong 한국물리학회 2008 Current Applied Physics Vol.8 No.3,4

Persistent slip bands (PSBs) are surface microstructural features that commonly arise when a polycrystalline metal experiences mechanical fatigue. As dislocations are carriers of plastic strain and PSBs are essentially strain localisation regions, the evolution of dislocations is expected to be pivotal in determining a material’s fatigue behaviour. The role of dislocations is investigated here by considering their kinematic activities namely, dislocation generation, annihilation and trapping incorporated within crystal plasticity theory. The results are consistent with experimental observations reported in the literature, indicating that PSB formation is due to the accumulation of edge dislocation dipoles caused by trapping events. Ke-Cheng Yang,Li-Hui Xu,Hong Pan,Li-Ming Wang,Yong Shen,Ying Ding 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.6

In this work, solid spherical and hollow spherical CuS were prepared by microwave assisted method withPEG4000 as dispersant. The CuS was characterized by particle size analysis, scanning electron microscope(SEM), nitrogenadsorption and desorption, and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The effects of PEG4000, ratio of thiourea: copper, andmicrowave power on particle size of CuS were discussed, and the effects of particle size on photocatalytic property wereevaluated. The solid spherical CuS had average particle size of 189.1 nm and specific surface of 9.54 m2/g. The hollowspherical CuS had average particle size of 502.7 nm and specific surface area of 16.01 m2/g. The results showed the hollowspherical CuS had better photocatalytic property. In addition, the cotton fabric was treated by hollow spherical CuS/polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to prepare multifunctional textile in this work. The treated cotton fabric was characterized bySEM. The treated cotton fabric achieved the superhydrophobicity with contact angle of 156.9 o and sliding angle of 8 o, goodphotocatalytic properties for methylene blue, and exceptional UV resistance with UPF of 223.52.

A simple data assimilation method to improve atmospheric dispersion based on Lagrangian puff model

        Li, Ke,Chen, Weihua,Liang, Manchun,Zhou, Jianqiu,Wang, Yunfu,He, Shuijun,Yang, Jie,Yang, Dandan,Shen, Hongmin,Wang, Xiangwei Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.7

To model the atmospheric dispersion of radionuclides released from nuclear accident is very important for nuclear emergency. But the uncertainty of model parameters, such as source term and meteorological data, may significantly affect the prediction accuracy. Data assimilation (DA) is usually used to improve the model prediction with the measurements. The paper proposed a parameter bias transformation method combined with Lagrangian puff model to perform DA. The method uses the transformation of coordinates to approximate the effect of parameters bias. The uncertainty of four model parameters is considered in the paper: release rate, wind speed, wind direction and plume height. And particle swarm optimization is used for searching the optimal parameters. Twin experiment and Kincaid experiment are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method can effectively increase the reliability of model prediction and estimate the parameters. It has the advantage of clear concept and simple calculation. It will be useful for improving the result of atmospheric dispersion model at the early stage of nuclear emergency.

      • Time Trends of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma in Urban Guangzhou over a 12-Year Period (2000-2011): Declines in Both Incidence and Mortality

Li, Ke,Lin, Guo-Zhen,Shen, Ji-Chuan,Zhou, Qin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.22

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an uncommon disease in most countries but occurs with much greater frequency in southern China. This study aimed to examine the secular trends of NPC in urban Guangzhou over the time period of 2000-2011 using data from the Guangzhou Cancer Registry. Age-adjusted annual incidence rates of NPC were calculated by the direct method using the WHO World Standard Population (1960) as the reference. The average annual percentage change (AAPC) was used as an estimate of the trend. A total of 7,532 new cases of NPC and 3,449 related deaths were registered. In both genders, the peak incidence occurred in the 50- to 59-year age group, and this age distribution pattern remained similar throughout. The AAPC in NPC incidence rates was -3.26% (95% CI: -5.4%--1.1) for males and -5.74% (95% CI: -8.9%--2.5) for females, resulting in a total decrease of 39.3% (from 22.14 to 13.44 per 100,000 population) for males and 48.6% (from 10.1 to 5.18 per 100,000 population) for females over this 12-year period. The AAPCs in NPC mortality rates were -4.62% (95%CI: -3.5%--5.7) for males and -6.75% (95% CI: -5.2%--8.3) for females, resulting in a total decrease of -46.1% (from 12.1 to 6.54 per 100,000 population) for males and 51.7% (from 4.14 to 2.00 per 100,000 population) for females. The age-adjusted incidence and mortality rates of NPC declined during 2000-2011 in urban Guangzhou but remained high. Future efforts to improve prevention, early detection and treatment strategies are needed.

Investigation on Bond Behavior between Self-compacting Rubberized Concrete and Rectangular Steel Tubes

        Xiaojun Ke,Zhukai Tang,Jianzeng Shen,Yanying Tao 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.26 No.8

The combination of self-compacting rubberized concrete (SCRC) and rectangular steel tubes to be a composite structure is a new attempt to apply it to a broader range of engineering fields while making up for the shortcomings of SCRC. This study presents experimental and analytical studies on the bonding behavior of rectangular self-compacting rubber concrete-filled steel tubes (SCRCFST). A total of 17 SCRCFST specimens were performed on push-out test with different parameters of 1) interface bonding length, 2) rubber aggregate replacementrate, 3) rubber particle size, and 4) water-cement ratio (W/C). Based on the failure mode, strain analysis, and the evolution of damage on the interface between the SCRC and steel tubes, test results determined the effects of the parameters, and a prediction equation for the bond strength was derived from developing a relationship of bond-slip. The results indicated that the increase of rubber content, rubber particle size, W/C harmed the bond strength of SCRCFST, and bond length had little effect on bonding strength. Furthermore, the strain distribution of the rectangular steel tube was not uniformly distributed. The achievement of this research is the investigation of the bonding properties of the new structure, to provide guidance for future research scholars.
