Pen.janthinullum에 의한 염료의 흡착 제거 특성

Dyes released from dyestuff industry and textile industry causes various pollutional problems and poisonous to the organisms. The dye-adsorbable fungus has been isolated and identified as Pen.janthinellum. The optimal temperature and initial pH in the growth of Pen.janthinellum was 30℃ and 7, respectively. It is showed that dye (0.01g/100㎖) is removed completely in the culture broth. When starch as the carbon source is used, the removal of dye was 89% and so starch is available as carbon source for dye removal. And 3g/ℓ above of starch concentration is necessary for remonal of dye(0.01g/100㎖). Apollo Nylon Fast Red S2B., Nylon Fast Red M-E7B., Apollocion Red H-E7B., Apollocion Red H-E3B. was removed about 90.2, 89.3, 87.6, 85.6%, respectively. In the case of detergent addition, the impovement of adsorbability was not shown. It is identified that dead cells have the adsorbability of dye and assumed applications in the waste water treatment.

Purpose: There is no effective treatment for patientswith advanced gastric cancer having failed to respond tofirst line chemotherapy. The aim of this study was toevaluate the therapeutic activity, and safety, of a FEPregimen in patients with a recurrence of, or metastatic,gastric cancer that had been unresponsive to primarychemotherapy.Materials and Methods: Recurred or metastatic gastriccancer patients that did not respond to a 5-fluorouracilbased regimen were entered into this trial. The patientswere treated with FEP (5-FU, etoposide and cisplatin) assalvage chemotherapy. The treatment regimen was 5-FU(900 mg/m2/day) by continuous infusion for 3 days, etoposide(90 mg/m2/day) on days 1, 2 and 3, and cisplatin(60 mg/m2/day) on day 2. This treatment was repeatedevery 3 weeks.Results: Between December 1997 and October 2001, 28patients were enrolled to the study. The response rate was32.1% (95% CI 15.5~57.8%). The median times to progressionand survival duration were 23~33 weeks, respectively.Among a total of 187 cycles of chemotherapy, the grade3 and 4 hematological toxicities were leukopenia (6.4%),thrombocytopenia (1.6%), and grade 3 non-hematologicalside effects of nausea/vomiting (17.9%).Conclusion: FEP combination chemotherapy seems tobe an effective treatment regimen for gastric cancer assalvage chemotherapy. To confirm these results, largescale of clinical trials will be required. (Cancer Res Treat. 2002;34:382-387)

공영방송 KBS를 비롯해 한국 언론인들의 전문직주의는 미성숙 상태라는 평가가 일반적이다. 본 연구는 Q방법론을 활용하여, 기자의 직업적 성취에 대하여 KBS 기자들과 시민들이 형성하고 있는 주관성을 탐색하였다. 이를 통해 한국 언론전문직주의 미성숙 상태에 관한 언론인의 주관성 차원의 배경과 이유를 파악하고자 하였다. KBS 기자 30명과 4년제 대학 언론고시반 대학생 10명, 그리고 다양한 연령대의 일반인 40명, 총 80명을 상대로 기자의 직업적 성취와 관련된 내용의 95개의 진술문을 활용하여 ‘승진/발탁되는 기자’를 조건으로 소팅을 진행하여 총 3개의 Q 요인을 추출하였고, 이를 다시 각 요인별 양(+) 하부 요인과 음(-) 하부 요인으로 구분하여 총 6개의 기자에 대한 인식과 태도 유형을 발견하였다. 그 결과 KBS 기자의 직업적 성취에 관한 주관성은 ‘전문직형 기자’, ‘모사꾼 기자’, ‘조직충성형기자’, ‘열혈기자’, ‘입신양명기자’, ‘착실한 직업인’으로 명명된 6개의 인식 유형으로 정리되었다. 본 연구는 기존 한국 기자의 직업 정체성 연구를 더욱 심화시키고 확장시켰다는 데 의의를 가질 수 있다. It is common to say that Korean journalists’ professionalism including the public broadcaster KBS is immature. This study used the Q methodology to explore the subjectivity that KBS reporters and citizens have formed about reporters occupational achievements. we tried to find out the background and reasons of the subjective dimensions of journalists regarding the immature state of Korean journalists’ professionalism. Under a condition for sorting of a reporter most likely to be promoted, using 95 statements related to the reporters occupational achievements, 30 KBS reporters, 10 university students who were eager to be a journalist, and 40 ordinary people of various ages, a total of 80 participants took part in the Q sorting. A total of 3 Q factors were extracted, then analyzed in detail into a total of 6 reporter types divided into (+) and (-) sub types for each factor. As a result, six types of perceptions and attitudes were named as a professional reporter, a schemer reporter, an organizational loyalty reporter, a passionate reporter, a careerist reporter, and a reliable worker. This study can be meaningful in that it further deepened and expanded the existing researches concerning Korean journalists professional identity.
중증 뇌동맥류파열 환자에서 Nimodipine의 치료 경험

Ten poor grade aneurysm patients were treated with nimodipine within 72 hours after last bleeding. Of 8 operated patients, 5 cases showed good result, 2 cases moderately d'sabled, and one dead. Outcomes of 2 non-operated cases were one good, and moderately disabled in the other. Transient delayed ischemic deficit developed in 4 cases, and permanent deficit in2 cases. Nimodipine might be effective in poor grade aneurysm patients and have some role for reducing the frequency of permanent delayed ischemic deficits.
결절성 경화증에 동반된 Subependymal Giant Cell Astrocytoma : 증례보고 Case Report

Subependymal giant cell astrocytoma is a very rare cerebral glioma and is known to be usually associated with tuberous sclerosis. We experienced a case of this tumor occured at the wall of both lateral ventricles near the foramen of Monro in a patient of tuberous sclerosis who had symtoms and signs of hydrocephalus and other complex manifestations of facial adenoma sebaceum, huge fibroma on occipital scalp and hamartoma on the right retina. The masses were removed completely through transcallosal approach with microsurgical technique. The literatures are also reviewed.
Hypothermia Inhibits Endothelium-Independent Vascular Contractility via Rho-kinase Inhibition

The present study was undertaken to investigate the influence of hypothermia on endothelium-independent vascular smooth muscle contractility and to determine the mechanism underlying the relaxation. Denuded aortic rings from male rats were used and isometric contractions were recorded and combined with molecular experiments. Hypothermia significantly inhibited fluoride-, thromboxane $A_{2-}$, phenylephrine-, and phorbol ester-induced vascular contractions regardless of endothelial nitric oxide synthesis, suggesting that another pathway had a direct effect on vascular smooth muscle. Hypothermia significantly inhibited the fluoride-induced increase in pMYPT1 level and phorbol ester-induced increase in pERK1/2 level, suggesting inhibition of Rho-kinase and MEK activity and subsequent phosphorylation of MYPT1 and ERK1/2. These results suggest that the relaxing effect of moderate hypothermia on agonist-induced vascular contraction regardless of endothelial function involves inhibition of Rho-kinase and MEK activities.
Effect of benzo(a)pyrene and mitomycine C on HeLa cell division cycle

Recently, there has been significant progress in understanding the control process of the cell division cycle. To investigate the influence of toxic substances on the cell cycle, the effect of benzo(a)pyrene (BAP) and mitomycine C (MMC) on synchronized HeLa cells was analyzed during the cell cycle. To synchronize the HeLa cells, 106 cells were grown for 1 day and then treated with 1 mM hydroxyurea for 14 h. The arrested cells were then allowed to proceed through their cell cycle by removing the hydroxyurea and resupplying a fresh medium. The arrested cells in the G1/S transition then proceeded to the S phase after 4 h, the G2/M phase after 8h, and the G1 phase after 12 h, subsequent to the resupply of a fresh medium. In the untreated HeLa cells, the p34cdc2 kinase activity, measured using a p34cdc2 specific peptide, peaked after 8h (G2/M) and then declined after 12 h (G1). However, treatment with 30 μM BAP delayed the peak of the p34cdc2 kinase activity. The amount of p34cdc2 remained unchanged in the untreated, BAP-, and MMC-treated cells throughout the cell cycle. The cyclin B level peaked after 8 h in the untreated cells, yet peaked after 10-12 h in the BAP-treated cells. There was no significant change in the cyclin B level in the MMC-treated cells.
