        Original Articles : Clinical significance of occult hepatitis B virus infection in chronic hepatitis C patients

        Background/Aims: We investigated the frequency of occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV)-positive individuals and the effects of occult HBV infection on the severity of liver disease. Methods: Seventy-one hepatitis B virus surface-antigen (HBsAg)-negative patients were divided according to their HBV serological status into groups A (anti-HBc positive, anti-HBs negative; n=18), B (anti-HBc positive, anti-HBs positive; n=34), and C (anti-HBc negative, anti-HBs positive/negative; n=19), and by anti-HCV positivity (anti-HCV positive; n=32 vs. anti-HCV negative; n=39). Liver biopsy samples were taken, and HBV DNA was quantified by real-time PCR. Results: Intrahepatic HBV DNA was detected in 32.4% (23/71) of the entire cohort, and HBV DNA levels were invariably low in the different groups. Occult HBV infection was detected more frequently in the anti-HBc-positive patients. Intrahepatic HBV DNA was detected in 28.1% (9/32) of the anti-HCV-positive and 35.9% (14/39) of the anti-HCV-negative subjects. The HCV genotype did not affect the detection rate of intrahepatic HBV DNA. In anti-HCV-positive cases, occult HBV infection did not affect liver disease severity. Conclusions: Low levels of intrahepatic HBV DNA were detected frequently in both HBsAg-negative and anti-HCV-positive cases. However, the frequency of occult HBV infection was not affected by the presence of hepatitis C, and occult HBV infection did not have a significant effect on the disease severity of hepatitis C.         This paper introduces a development of an electrical stimulator for auditory stimulation. The electrical stimulator is useful in neurotological diagnosis, audiological evaluation, candidate selection for cochlear implantation, optimal device selection and decision making of MAP strategy for severe-to-profound hearing impaired persons. The development was based on sound parameters of auditory brainstem responses and auditory electrophysiological characteristic such as effective firing of auditory nerve and recording evoked potentials during refractory period of neuron. Besides pulse parameter could adjustable by programming for more varied electrical stimulation evoked response audiometry. Using the electrical stimulator, electrical square pulse was applied to promontory, and electrically evoked auditory brainstem response and electrically middle latency response were successfully recorded in cats.

        These days, serious concerns of reinforced concrete have been raised recently over steel-bar corrosion, cracking, the deterioration of durability and structural stress resistance and so on, all due to the effects of exterior factors. Such being the case, in domestic, various repair materials and method systems to keep up with these reinforced concrete deteriorated due to salt damage, carbonation, chemical decay et. developed and applied. However, on-site quality control of various repair materials and method systems isn't achieved desirably because it is depend completely on a men of experience' opinions above all else regardless of various on - site environments. In this background, mock up test with due regard to real on-site environments was performed to secure fundamental data for establishment of desirable on-site quality control. Mock up test using repair mortar analyzed from angles of construction methods, mechanical spraying pressures, W 1M. Construction methods were designed manpower method and spraying method, spraying pressures were designed 32, 42, 52 psi, W/M were designed 14.4, 15.4, 16.4 %. And compressive strength, Chloride ion diffusion coefficient, bond strength, SEM of mock up test specimens were evaluated. In conclusion, we confirmed excellency of mechanical spraying pressures, fined extremely excellency of condition of spraying pressure 42 ps, W/M 14.4% within this study. therefore the results of this study will be useful to provide fundamental data for establishment of desirable on-site quality control.

        한국어 형태소 처리와 사전 : 접속정보를 이용한 한글 철자 및 띄어쓰기 검사기 Hangul Spelling and Word-spacing Checker Using the Connectivity Information

        This paper describes the Hangul spelling and word-spacing checker, HSPELL. HSPELL was implemented in C and runs under UNIX^TM 4.3 BSD. The system finds spelling or word-spacing errors in the text of written Hangul and points out it by batch mode. For this processing, HSPELL uses the connectivity information between morphemes and the dictionary with 7,000 morphemes. In this paper, a morphological analysis method called shortest match strategy is proposed for the Hangul spelling and wordspacing checking. This method allows efficient search for separable morphemes in a word phrase.

        C형 및 S형 단백 결핍에 의한 하지 심부 정맥혈전증

        Purpose: Protein C and S deficiencies are frequently described as causes of the hypercoagulable states. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical features and prognosis of deep venous thrombosis associated with protein C and/or S deficiencies and to determine an adequate treatment modality for such cases. Method: A total of consecutive 42 patients with deep venous thrombosis of the lower extremity were seen in our hospital between September 2000 and August 2002. Hypercoagulability studies were done before systemic anticoagulation therapy, and the diagnosis of protein C and/or S deficiencies was confirmed if antigenic protein C and/or S levels were less than 60%. Result: Seven patients (16.7%) were diagnosed with deep venous thrombosis associated with protein C and/or S deficiencies. Of these, 5 patients with acute iliofemoral deep venous thrombosis were treated with catheter-directed thrombolysis therapy, and 2 with systemic anticoagulation therapy. There were no major complications or clinically detectable pulmonary emboli. Conclusion: Protein C and/or S deficiencies are one of the common causes of deep venous thrombosis. Considering that patients with deep venous thrombosis and protein C and/or S deficiencies should be treated with life-long anticoagulation for the prevention of recurrence, patients presenting with deep venous thrombosis without evidence of other risk factors should be evaluated for hypercoagulable states.

        In recent years, there is increasing interests in spot welder with industrial growth of automobile. It makes autowelding and short-time welding possible. Conventional spot welders using AC source bring about the depreciation of welding products, because constant current control makes its workpiece spattered during welding process. In this paper, the constant power control strategy using PI controller is proposed to improve the quality of the welding products. PI controller is implemented by l6bit one chip 80C196KB microcontroller. Simulation and experimental results show that DC spot welder with single phase PWM inverter is effectively controlled by the constant power control method in very short-time.

      • Polyimide계 배향막의 합성과 그 입체구조가 액정분자의 프리틸트 각에 미치는 영향

        Polyimide계 배향막은 고온처리 등 디스플레이 제조공정을 거치면서도 액정 배향특성이 유지되며 장시간 사용에도 물리·화학적 안정성이 좋은 장점을 가지고 있어 널리 사용되고 있다. 이 배향막을 연구하는데 있어서 합성기술과 러빙처리에 따른 배향막 표면의 특성분석이 필수적이며, 본 연구에서는 Diamine과 Dianhydride를 NMP용매하에서 용액중합하여 polyamic acid를 합성한 후, ITO코팅된 유리표면위에 스핀개스팅하여 박막을 입히고 열적처리를 하여 이미드화시켰다. 배향막의 배향을 위해서 러빙처리를 하고, 러빙처리 전후의 접촉각 측정을 통한 배향막 표면장력변화를 harmonic-mean 방법으로 구했고 2차 고조파 신호 (SHG) 분석을 통한 배향막 표면분자들의 방향성 분포를 검토해 보았다. Polyimide의 반복단위구조를 컴퓨터 그래픽 프로그램 (CS Chem3D Pro)을 사용하여 3차원적으로 시뮬레이션함으로서 polyimide의 입체구조를 알아보았다. 그리고 그 입체구조와 프리틸트 각과의 상관관계를 분자간 상호 작용설을 근거로 하여 살펴보았다. Polyimide has been widely used as the alignment film for liquid crystal displays because of their excellent properties, such as thermal can chemical stability. In this experiment, polyamic acid is rapidly formed at ambient temperatures when a diamine and a dianhydride are added into NMP. Polyimide films were fabricated by spin-coating solution on ITO-coated glass substrates. Polyimide films were baked at 80oC and then cured at 150oC 250oC for 30min at each temperature. The polyimide-coated substrates were rubbed by a rubbing machine with a roller. We measured the contact angles and the second-harmonic signals on the surface of samples to know the surface tension and the surface orientation of samples. and We also measured the pretilt angle of liquid crystal molecules in order to find the effect of the rubbing strength and the steric structure of polyimides on it.

      • 光州·木浦圈 落後地域의 均衡發展에 관한 硏究 : 羅州市를 中心으로 Focused on Naju-city

        As capital circle and Busan region have been extensively developed with economic growth centered policies, population and industries were concentrated at these regions and then urban problems in housing, traffic and environment and unbalanced development among regions have been seriously raised. Therefore great-sphere development project circles are designated at eight regions with the surrounding areas of metropolitans and new industrial areas and their development projects are established for the activation of local economy through the induction of balanced regional development and the active altraction of privale capital. However, great-sphere development project also shows biased regional development remarkably and it is considered that the research for solution of such a problem is urgent. Also industrial and SOC are biased only on Kwangju and Mokpo regions within Kwangju - Mokpo great-sphere development project of Kwangju and Mokpo circle established in 1998 and it resulted in regional polarization. Especially, Naju is located geographically in the center of Kwangju - Mokpo great-sphere development circle and is also the traffic center and although it played the important roles as the capital and was the center of commercial activities, its development as the urban area was dull because of the development of industry, traffic and communication. Accordingly, this study is to suggest the methods for seeking the companion growth among Kwangju, Naju and Mokpo within the same circle by solving the problems due to the bias of industrial and SOC facilities, extending the urban spatial structure for developing Naju-city, a backward region and expanding SOC facilities with the cultivation of distinctive industries.

        This study was conducted to use for the Community Health Care Plan through analyzing the specific cause of death in Gangneung. The study subject were death in Gangneung that happened from January 1, to December 31 in 2000, and that were enrolled as the citizen of Gangneung. The causes of death were classified according to the 56 selected list for ranking of causes of death in Korean National Statistical Office in order to compare the data of nation. We also estimated Years of Potential Life Lost in order to evaluate the burden of disease in Gangneung.

      • 국사학습 연표자료의 실태와 개발방안

        A chronological table of Korean history is a study material which is arranged for us to understand the course of a historical development and a table that historical events are arranged and systematized in a chronological order as time passes, As a middle school Korean historical textbook has 10 chronological tables and a highschool Korean historical textbook has 6 chronological tables, they are very useful to take a general view of the unit. But the years which can represent the unit are left out or the facts which are not referred to in the main text are wrote down. On the other hand, the facts which are written down in a chronological table are not seen in the main text or in the general chronological table. In addition, a middle school historical textbook has two main chronological tables while a highschool historical textbook has nothing. Therefore we should write down the historical facts as 3 aspects of the followings. First, There can be a periodical history divided into a short period, a middle period, and a long period. Second, There can be a classified history divided into a political, an economical, a social, and a cultural affairs. A third, There can be a thematic history divided into a military, a foreign, a traffic, a communicative, an industrial, an educational, an academic, and a religious affairs. Otherwise, we had better make a chronological table which is divided the historical facts occurred in an special period into some kinds of categories or into a region, a race, and a nation.
