The synthesis and antimicrobial activity of cephalosporin having (Z)-2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-trityloxyiminoacetamido group and 5-(2-chlorophenyl)-4-phenyl-4H-1, 2, 4-triazol-3-thiomethyl group on the C_3 and C_7 position of the cephem ring, respectively are descrived. This compound was tested for antimicrobial activity in vitro against Candida albicans ATCC 10231, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Micrococcus luteus ATCC 9341, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538P, Mycobacterium phlei IIP-IPH, Escherichia coli KCTC 1039, Escherichia coli ESS, Klebisiella pneumoniae KCTC 1560, Salmonella typhymurium TV-119, Pseudomonas aeruginosa IFO 13130. The antimicrobial activity of synthetic compound was better as compare with cefotaxime and cefazoline against Micrococcus luteus ATCC 9341 & Escherichia coli KCTC ESS.

As the exiting school facilities become old and unfit for new curriculum, the systematical remodeling process based on its educational and physical functions is required, due to the inadequate maintenance and repairing practices, unnecessary costs are expended. Therefore, this study aims to establish a remodelling decision-making model for improving the educational environment of the existing school facilities. According to the budget system, it proposes the concept of remodelling that includes the activities of extension, reconstruction, repair and improvement. This study classifies the performance evaluation for school facilities as that of safety, durability and educational function, and articulates the assessment standards, methods and elements. In the end, it suggests a rational model for remodelling decisions making that can provide efficient and comprehensive remodelling process, economic and sustainable school development.
初ㆍ中等學校 化粧室 計劃에 관한 硏究 : 적정 化粧室 便器數 算定을 中心으로 focused on the optimal number of toilets and urinals

Functional school planning has long been considered a fundamental concept of school design. However, in planning educational facilities, it is also important to include the dimensions of comfort, convenience and healthfulness. The school toilet is one of most crucial elements for the recent changing face in school design, but the number of toilets and urinals in most schools may not be sufficient to meet current needs, especially in the girl's toilet rooms. This study aims to suggest a guideline in designing school toilet facilities and propose the optimal number of toilets and urinals regarded to age and sex. The survey is conducted through questionnaires collected from 998 respondents including 300 teachers in ChungNam province. Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that the number of toilets in the elementary school be required by ratio of 25 boys per toilet, 13 boys per urinal and 8 girls per toilet, in the middle school by ratio of 22 boys per toilet, 15 boys per urinal and 7.5 girls per toilet, and in the high school by ratio of 20 boys per toilet, 10 boys per urinal and 7 girls per toilet. It also proposes a formulae for calculating the optimal number of toilets and urinals, which can be used for other plumbing fixture required in school facilities.

7β[5-(Substituted) phenyl-2H-tetrazol-2-yl]acetamidocephalospranic acid, 7β-(5-Diphnenyl-methyl-2H-tetrazol-2-yl) acetamidocephalosporanic acid and 7β-[5-(Substituted)-4-phenyl-1.2.4-triazol2-yl]thioacetamidocephalosporanic acid were synthesized and tested in vitro antimicrobial activity. These compounds exhibited good antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria whereas most compounds showed decreased antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative bacteria

Al though the changes in tooth morphology and hardness by hydrogen peroxide(H20 z) have been r‘epor‘.ted .‘ the pαr。o야t뻐ec야tive role of heme oxygenase-l(HO-l) against the cytotoxic effects of H202 has not been clarifïed i n human pulp cells ln this st udy. we investigated whether HO-l is involved in Hz0 2-induced cytoLox icity a nd examined the production 0 1' dentin sia lophosphoprotein(DSPP) and other mineralization markers‘ in hllman pu lp cells H202 decreased cell viabi lity, but increased HO-l and DSPP expression in a concentra tion and time dependent manner . Inhibitors of gllanylate cyclase. PI3K, ERK. and p38 MAP kinase blocked H202-indllced cytotoxicity and the expression of HO-l and DSPP mRNAs in pulp cells. These data suggest that the induction of HO-l by H202 in plllp cells plays a protective role against the cytotoxic effects 0 1' HzOz and stimulates DSPP expression‘ reslllting in prematllre odontoblast dilTerentiation throllgh pathways that involve cGMP‘ p38. and ERK.

The mason bee (Osmia cornifrons Radoszkowsky) is an excellent pollinator of apple. To understand geographic genetic variation of the species and relationships among populations sequenced a portion of mitochondrial COI gene, which corresponds to “DNA Barcode” region (658 bp) from 81 individuals collected over eight localities in Korea. The sequence data were used to investigate genetic diversity within populations and species, geographic variation within species, phylogeographic relationship among populations, and phylogenetic relationship among haplotypes. Summarized, overall moderate to low genetic diversity within populations and species was characteristic, concordant with the high potential to disperse of O. cornifrons in Korea. Although two populations were genetically subdivided from the remaining localities, no clear regional bias was observed. Overall, high rate of gene flow among localities and low FST was characteristic considering other relevant studies that investigated population genetic structure of other insects occurring in Korean peninsula.

Purpose: In near infrared spectroscopy, interactance configuration of a light source and a spectrometer probe can provide more information regarding fruit internal attributes, compared to reflectance and transmittance configuration. However, there is no through study on the parameters of interactance measurement setup. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of the parameters on the estimation of soluble solids content (SSC) and firmness of muskmelons. Methods: Melon samples were taken from greenhouses at three different harvesting seasons. The prediction models were developed at three distances of 2, 5, and 8 cm between the light source and the spectrometer probe, three measurement points of 2, 3, and 6 evenly distributed on each sample, and different number of fruit samples for calibration models. The performance of the models was compared. Results: In the test at the three distances, the best results were found at a 5 cm distance. The coefficient of determination (Rcv 2) values of the cross-validation were 0.717 (standard error of prediction, SEP=1.16 °Brix) and 0.504 (SEP=4.31 N) for the estimation of SSC and firmness, respectively. The minimum measurement point required to fully represent the spectral characteristics of each fruit sample was 3. The highest Rcv 2 values were 0.736 (SEP=0.87 °Brix) and 0.644 (SEP=4.16 N) for the estimation of SSC and firmness, respectively. The performance of the models began to be saturated when 60 fruit samples were used for developing calibration models. The highest Rcv 2 of 0.713 (SEP=0.88 °Brix) and 0.750 (SEP=3.30 N) for the estimation of SSC and firmness, respectively, were achieved. Conclusions: The performance of the prediction models was quite different according to the condition of interactance measurement setup. In designing a fruit grading machine with interactance configuration, the parameters for interactance measurement setup should be chosen carefully.
