        Effect of Oxidation on the Fatigue Crack Propagation Behavior of Z3CN20.09M Duplex Stainless Steel in High Temperature Water

        The fatigue crack propagation behaviors of Z3CN20.09M duplex stainless steel (DSS) were investigated by studying oxide films of specimens tested in 290℃ water and air. The results indicate that a full oxide film that consisted of oxides and hydroxides was formed in 290℃ water. By contrast, only a half-baked oxide film consisting of oxides was formed in 290℃ air. Both environments are able to deteriorate the elastic modulus and hardness of the oxide films, especially the 290℃ water. The fatigue lives of the specimens tested in 290℃ air were about twice of those tested in 290℃ water at all strain amplitudes. Moreover, the crack propagation rates of the specimen tested in 290℃ water were confirmed to be faster than those tested in 290℃ air, which was thought to be due to the deteriorative strength of the oxide films induced by the mutual promotion of oxidation and crack propagation at the crack tip. It is noteworthy that the crack propagation can be postponed by the ferrite phase in the DSS, especially when the specimens were tested in 290℃ water.

        First-Principles Study of the Influence of Zirconium on the Diffusion of Uranium Defects in Uranium Dioxide

        The migration properties of uranium vacancies and interstitials in zirconium-doped uranium dioxide are studied by using density functional theory (DFT) and the climbing-image nudge elastic band (CI-NEB) method. The strong correlations among uranium $5f$ electrons were described by using a spherically averaged Hubbard parameter. In the model, the zirconium atoms are introduced by replacing the uranium atoms at the nearest and the next nearest neighbor sites along the diffusion path of uranium defects. The doping with zirconium obviously reduces the migration barriers for defects in uranium dioxide. The effect of doping with zirconium on the diffusion of uranium defects decreases with increasing distance between the zirconium dopant and the uranium defects. Further, we investigated the lattice distortion and the electron transfer associated with the migration of uranium defects, and we analyzed the physical origin of the reduction in the migration barriers caused by zirconium doping.

        Comparative analysis of type 2 diabetes-associated gut microbiota between Han and Mongolian people

        Due to the different rates of diabetes in different ethnic groupsand the structural differences in intestinal microbiota, thisstudy evaluated the changes in diabetes-related intestinal microbiotain two ethnic groups. Fifty-six stool samples werecollected from subjects from the Han and Mongolian ethnicgroups in China, including participants without diabetes(non-diabetic, ND) and with type 2 diabetes (T2D). The 16SrDNA gene V3 + V4 area was extracted from microbiota,amplified by PCR, and used to perform high-throughput sequencingand screen differential microbiota associated withethnicity. The results showed that there were 44 T2D-relatedbacterial markers in the Han subjects, of which Flavonifractor,Alistipes, Prevotella, Oscillibacter, Clostridium XlVa,and Lachnospiracea_incertae_sedis were most closely relatedto diabetes. There were 20 T2D-related bacterial markers inthe Mongolian subjects, of which Fastidiosipila and Barnesiellawere most closely related to diabetes. The commonmarkers of T2D bacteria in the two ethnic groups were Papillibacterand Bifidobacterium. There were 17 metabolic pathwayswith significant differences between the ND and T2Dgroups in the Han group, and 29 metabolic pathways in theMongolian group. The glutamatergic metabolic pathway wasthe only common metabolic pathway in two ethnic groups. The composition and function of diabetes-related bacteriawere significantly different among the different ethnic groups,which suggested that the influence of ethnic differences shouldbe fully considered when studying the association betweendiabetes and bacteria. In addition, the common bacterialmarkers found in diabetic patients of different ethnic groupsin this study can be used as potential targets to study the pathogenesisand treatment of diabetes.

        Analysis of the Interdecadal and Interannual Variability of Autumn Extreme Rainfall in Taiwan Using a Deep-Learning-Based Weather Typing Approach

        This study sought to assess the interdecadal and interannual variability of autumn extreme rainfall (ER) in Taiwan from 1979to 2019. Three types of ER events were identified based on a clustering analysis augmented by a deep autoencoder-basedneural network model. This method outperforms other methods in obtaining the optimal number of clusters by extractingthe synoptic features in advance. The patterns associated with these three types include a tropical cyclone covering Taiwan(TC), a TC-like circulation in the South China Sea (SCS) accompanied by northeasterly near northern Taiwan (TC-NE), andnortheasterly near northern Taiwan (NE). The differences in the rainfall pattern caused by the three types were discernableover Taiwan. How the PDO or ENSO modulates the regional large-scale environment to favor the occurrence of these ERevents was investigated. The occurrence of TC-NE events was simultaneously correlated with the negative phases of PDO/ENSO in the interdecadal/interannual scale. In the negative phases of PDO/ENSO, a low-level anomalous cyclone overSCS accompanied by background northeasterly favored the regional TC activities and may cause more TC-NE events. Theoccurrence of NE events is simultaneously correlated with the cold phase of ENSO. An anomalous low-level anticyclone inNortheast Asia strengthened the northeasterly toward northern Taiwan, and with the seasonal background moisture, providedfavorable conditions for the occurrence of the NE events. Overall, the occurrence of the TC events did not correlate with thePDO or ENSO signals; the reasons for the lack of correlation were discussed herein.

        《唐太宗傳》與《西遊記》的比較文學硏究

        This thesis studies the difference between the Korean ancient novel 〈唐太宗傳〉 and Chinese classical literature work 〈西遊記〉 base on a point of view of comparative literature. Above all, studying and analyzing deeper on the subject of comparative literature is a weight-bearing point in this thesis. In the field of comparative literature, the Korean scholars are given to study the difference of classical literature between China and Korea. By contraries, in China, this kind of study rarely be done probably because of the different language, conscious and values. Since China and Korea are close to each other, the two country intertlow with each other frequently, thus the subject of China and Korean’s comparative literature is much more worth to study about. To study the comparative literature, the affect that literature gives is a part which can not be abridge. The questions about the Korean ancient novel 〈唐太宗傳〉 which the writer would like to analyze in this thesis are also included in the same field. In addition, in the theses the Korean scholars done, the question about if the 〈唐太宗傳〉 a remade novel is often mentioned. Opinions are widely divided; thus, the writer tries to study and compare the 〈唐太宗傳〉 with the Chinese classical novel 〈西遊記〉 by a study way which is the same with the comparative literature. The author and the age of the Korean ancient novel 〈唐太宗傳〉 are unknown; while, the Chinese people consider that 唐太宗 is the emperor of the Tang Dynasty, then how does the emperor of the Tang Dynasty appear and be the main character in the Korean ancient novel in a form of biographical literature? Some Korean scholars did brilliant analysis about 〈唐太宗傳〉; while in China, there were little achievements about 〈唐太宗傳〉. Therefore, the writer tries to study with an objective standpoint, not to be limited by the problems such as racial conscious and languages, hope to complete a renewal study of comparative literature.

        Gentiopicroside Ameliorates the Progression from Hepatic Steatosis to Fibrosis Induced by Chronic Alcohol Intake

        In current study, we aimed to investigate whether the gentiopicroside (GPS) derived from Gentiana manshurica Kitagawa could block the progression of alcoholic hepatic steatosis to fibrosis induced by chronic ethanol intake. C57BL/6 mice were fed an ethanol- containing Lieber-DeCarli diet for 4 weeks. LX-2 human hepatic stellate cells were treated with GPS 1 h prior to transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) stimulation, and murine hepatocyte AML12 cells were pretreated by GPS 1 h prior to ethanol treatment. GPS inhibited the expression of type I collagen (collagen I), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and tissue inhibitor of metal protease 1 in ethanol-fed mouse livers with mild fibrosis. In addition, the imbalanced lipid metabolism induced by chronic ethanol-feeding was ameliorated by GPS pretreatment, characterized by the modulation of lipid accumulation. Consistently, GPS inhibited the expression of collagen I and α-SMA in LX-2 cells stimulated by TGF-β. Inhibition of lipid synthesis and promotion of oxidation by GPS were also confirmed in ethanol-treated AML12 cells. GPS could prevent hepatic steatosis advancing to the inception of a mild fibrosis caused by chronic alcohol exposure, suggesting GPS might be a promising therapy for targeting the early stage of alcoholic liver disease.
