      • Research on Novel 3D Modelling Methodology for Animation Design based on Computer Graphics Theory and Mathematical Analysis with Kinect Implementation

        At present, the 3D object model technique is being applied in the simulation, virtual reality, 3D film industry and culture protection, and many other fields which can be widely applied. However, the existing 3D reconstruction technology is based on the complex and often expensive sensors. Therefore, we conduct research on computer graphics theory and mathematical modelling based 3D reconstruction methodology with Kinect. We firstly introduce the basic concepts and application of Kinect system which serves as the preliminary of our research. Then, we conduct mathematical modelling for our proposed system with theoretical analysis. Later, experiment and numerical simulation is conducted for verifying the robustness and effectiveness of our proposed approach. The visualized and numerical simulation result indicates that our method outperforms and holds better accuracy compared with other popular adopted algorithms. In the future, we plan to combine more optimization techniques to polish and modify our approach.

        Bacterial cellulose/graphene oxide nanocomposite as a novel drug delivery system

        Graphene-based nanocarriers not only possess large specific surface area but also prevent drugs from premature release outside the target cells. However, agglomeration in aqueous solution is a critical challenge. In this work, graphene oxide (GO) was uniformly embedded into the three-dimensional (3D) porous network of bacterial cellulose (BC) to form a novel BC/GO nanocomposite drug nanocarrier. For the first time, ibuprofen (IBU) was loaded onto the BC/GO nanocomposites. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) reveal the successful drug loading onto BC/GO nanocomposites. In vitro drug release studies indicate that the drug release of IBU@BC/GO follows a non-Fickian diffusion mechanism. Another important feature of this BC/GO nanocarrier is its better cell viability in comparison to BC. It is believed that this new nanocarrier is a potential choice for drug delivery system.

        Encapsulating doxorubicin-intercalated lamellar nanohydroxyapatite into PLGA nanofibers for sustained drug release

        In this work, doxorubicin (DOX) was intercalated into layered nanohydroxyapatite (LHAp). The drug loaded LHAp (DOX@LHAp) was then mixed with poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and electrospun to yield DOX@ LHAp/PLGA composite scaffolds. As control, needle-like nanohydroxyapatite (nHAp) was also used to make an DOX@nHAp/PLGA composite scaffold and bare DOX was used to fabricate DOX/PLGA scaffold. The morphology, release behavior of DOX, and capability to inhibit cancer cells were assessed. The addition of DOXloaded nHAp to PLGA causes a slight decrease in the average fiber diameter of DOX@LHAp/PLGA as compared to PLGA. The in vitro drug release tests reveal a much faster release of DOX from DOX/PLGA than DOX@LHAp/ PLGA. Moreover, DOX@LHAp/PLGA displays a more sustainable release over DOX@nHAp/PLGA due to the storage of DOX in the gallery of LHAp, which is further proved by their cancer cell inhibition results. We believe that the DOX@LHAp/PLGA scaffold has potential as an implantable drug delivery system.

        Dietary patterns and cardio-cerebrovascular disease in a Chinese population

        BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Dietary pattern and its association with cardio-cerebrovascular disease have not been studied in Baoji city by now. This study was aimed to identify the dietary patterns among Chinese adults in Baoji, and explore the association between these dietary patterns and cardio-cerebrovascular disease. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 4,968 participants were included in this study at 12 counties. With multistage stratified random sampling and semi quantitative food frequency questionnaire, the prevalence of cardio-cerebrovascular disease and dietary intake were investigated in 2013. We used factor analysis to establish dietary patterns. RESULTS: A total of 4,968 participants over 15 years old were included in this study. Five dietary patterns were identified in Baoji: protein, balanced, beans, prudent, and traditional patterns. The protein dietary pattern mainly included animal and plant proteins and was negatively associated with hypertension as well as stroke. The balanced pattern included carbohydrates, protein, and fat and was negatively associated with hypertension as well as stroke. The beans pattern was mainly beans and beans products and was negatively associated with hypertension. The prudent pattern only included staple foods and pickled vegetables and was positively associated with hypertension as well as coronary heart disease. The traditional pattern was representative of local Baoji traditional recipes and was positively associated with hypertension. CONCLUSIONS: The protein, balanced, and beans dietary patterns showed many protective effects on cardio-cerebrovascular disease. Based on these results, Baoji city residents should be encouraged to choose protein, balanced, and beans dietary patterns and abandon prudent and traditional patterns to prevent incidence of hypertension, coronary heart disease, and stroke.

        Comparison and Analysis of Meteorological Variables Observed from the Glacier Area over the Tianshan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan and China

        Due to the special natural environment over the glacier area in the Tianshan Mountains, the observation of meteorological data became difficult and is strictly scarce. Using the available data observed from the automatic meteorological station (AMS) installed on theWestern Tianshan Mountain Station (WTMS) in Kyrgyzstan, the daily and seasonal variations of meteorological variables including air temperature (AT, °C), air pressure (AP, hPa), relative humidity (RH, %), and wind direction and speed (WD and WS, deg and m/s, respectively), as well as total radiation (TR, W/m2) were primarily analyzed during the period from September 2016 to May 2017. These are compared with the meteorological data obtained from the AMS in the Eastern Tianshan Mountain Station (Daxigou Station, hereafter named as ETMS) in China. Further, the comparison study between the observed data from the WTMS and the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data was performed to test the feasibility of reanalysis data in the vicinity of the Western Tianshan Mountains. The results revealed are as follows: (1) the observed data between the WTMS and ETMS presented high correlations, and the meteorological parameters detected from the ETMS were certainly representative of the variations in theWTMS. (2) The RH in the two regions showed comparatively high values ranging from 40%to 70%indicate the abundant amount of atmospheric water vapor content near the ground in the Tianshan Mountain area. (3) The predominant WD both in the WTMS and ETMS near the ground was along the south-east direction, with the values of WS between 0 and 2 m/s were accounted the largest proportion in two stations. (4) The NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data can reflect the changes in the synoptic weather scale of AT, RH, and AP to some extent. (5) The NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data of AT and RH were underestimated by 7.2% and 45.2% in the WTMS, respectively. Whereas, the values of AP, WD, and WS were overestimated by 83.8%, 28.8%, and 74.3%, respectively over the WTMS.

        20(S)-ginsenoside Rg3 exerts anti-fi brotic effect after myocardial infarction by alleviation of fi broblasts proliferation and collagen deposition through TGFBR1 signaling pathways

        Background: Myocardial fibrosis post-myocardial infarction (MI) can induce maladaptive cardiacremodeling as well as heart failure. Although 20(S)-ginsenoside Rg3 (Rg3) has been applied to cardiovasculardiseases, its efficacy and specific molecular mechanism in myocardial fibrosis are largely unknown. Herein, we aimed to explore whether TGFBR1 signaling was involved in Rg3's anti-fibrotic effectpost-MI. Methods: Left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery ligation-induced MI mice and TGF-b1-stimulated primary cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) were adopted. Echocardiography, hematoxlin-eosin andMasson staining, Western-blot and immunohistochemistry, CCK8 and Edu were used to study the effectsof Rg3 on myocardial fibrosis and TGFBR1 signaling. The combination mechanism of Rg3 and TGFBR1 wasexplored by surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi). Moreover, myocardial Tgfbr1-deficient mice andTGFBR1 adenovirus were adopted to confirm the pharmacological mechanism of Rg3. Results: In vivo experiments, Rg3 ameliorated myocardial fibrosis and hypertrophy and enhanced cardiacfunction. Rg3-TGFBR1 had the 1.78 10 7 M equilibrium dissociation constant based on SPRi analysis,and Rg3 inhibited the activation of TGFBR1/Smads signaling dose-dependently. Cardiac-specific Tgfbr1knockdown abolished Rg3's protection against myocardial fibrosis post-MI. In addition, Rg3 downregulatedthe TGF-b1-mediated CFs growth together with collagen production in vitro through TGFBR1signaling. Moreover, TGFBR1 adenovirus partially blocked the inhibitory effect of Rg3. Conclusion: Rg3 improves myocardial fibrosis and cardiac function through suppressing CFs proliferationalong with collagen deposition by inactivation of TGFBR1 pathway.

        De novo genome assembly and annotation of Holothuria scabra (Jaeger, 1833) from nanopore sequencing reads

        Background: Holothuria scabra is a costly gourmet and traditional Chinese tonic medicine. However, the lack of high-quality genome information hinders the genetic, phylogenetic, and bioactivator researches. Objective: To construct high-quality genomic data of H. scabra and conduct genome-wide phylogenetic analysis. Methods: The whole genome of a male H. scabra was sequenced based on Nanopore MinION platform, and the sequence was assembled by wtdbg2. Transcriptome sequencing was used to aid the gene annotation. Repeat sequences, non-coding RNA, pseudogene and gene functional annotation were analyzed. 750 single-copy gene families from ten species were applied to construct phylogenetic tree for evolutionary analysis by using the ML method. Results: The H. scabra genome of 1.18 Gb (N50 = 1557,492 bp) with 500.42 Mb of putative repetitive sequences was assembled from a male H. scabra individual, and 16,642 protein-coding genes, 951 pseudogenes, 1791 motifs and 45,400 domains from the generated assembly were identified. The divergence time between H. scabra and its ancestor was estimated approximately 192.6 million years ago. H. scabra and A. japonicas joined together while sea urchin and sea star diverged about 440 Mya ago. Some key genes involved in notochord and gill slits development, skeleton degeneration and nervous system, as well as homeobox genes differ between H. scabra and Apostichopus japonicas. Conclusion: We report the first whole genome of H. scabra with expectation that this will be a valuable resource for genetic, phylogenetic, breading, molecular biology and bioactivator studies of sea cucumbers and other invertebrates.
