        The effects of aging for improving wastewater sludge electro-dewatering performances

        The effects of sludge aging on improving sludge electro-dewatering (SED) performance were studied,with the sludge properties variation during aging process investigated. Sludge electro-dewateringperformances were explored by constant voltage method (25 V) on various samples. The organic matterin the extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) was gradually consumed and decomposed during sludgeaging process. Under identical electro-dewatering conditions, dewaterability and time-space yield ofaged sludge achieved 49.33% solid content and 223.46 kg m 2 h 1 respectively. Such results indicate thebeneficial effects of sludge aging process in terms of SED performances, which needs further explorationinto fundamental mechanisms.

        Antiobesity Activity of Aqueous Extracts of Rhizoma Dioscoreae Tokoronis on High-Fat Diet-Induced Obesity in Mice

        We examined the effects of Rhizoma Dioscoreae Tokoronis extracts (RDTEs) on plasma lipids, body weight, and lipogenic enzymes. Mice were administered a standard chow diet, a 60% high-fat diet, or a high-fat diet with RDTE. Mice that were fed a high-fat diet containing RDTE were found to have lower increases in body and epididymal adipose tissue weights and a lessened occurrence of hepatic steatosis than mice that were fed a high-fat diet. The decreased adiposity that was induced by RDTE accounted for lower plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor-α, leptin, and glucose and a higher level of adiponectin. RDTE administration also resulted in a significant decrease in triglyceride, total plasma cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol when compared to the high-fat group. To identify the mechanism by which RDTE induced its antiobesity effect, we investigated the sterol response element binding protein (SREBP) transcription system, which was induced in mice that were fed the high-fat diet. RDTE was found to suppress the expression of SREBP-1 as well as that of fatty acid synthase in adipose and liver tissues in mice provided the high-fat diet. These findings suggest that the antiobesity action of RDTE in mice that are fed a high-fat diet may occur in response to suppression of the SREBP-1-dependent lipogenic pathway.

      • A Load Balancing Approach for Distributed SDN Architecture Based on Sharing Data Store

        Software-defined networking (SDN) uses a centralized control plane to manage the whole network. Distributed SDN architecture has been proposed to resolve scalability and reliability problem. One challenge of multiple controllers is load balancing problem, that uneven load distribution among controllers. Dynamic switches migration is an effective way to solve this problem. However, the existing schemes focus on effective migration algorithms and different metrics to realize the load balancing of control plane in SDN, and do not consider the communication cost between controllers and computation cost of migration scheme. In order to address this issue, we propose a load balancing approach based on sharing data store. Sharing data store has the information of all controllers, and the calculator module in it can compute switches migration scheme based saved information. It can also reduce the computation and communication pressure of controllers. Simulation experiments exhibit the feasibility and effectiveness of our approach.

        Improved temperature stability of Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3/ZnAl2O4 ceramics by controlling microstructure with sintering behavior

        0.2ZnAl2O4/0.8Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 ceramics with good dielectric temperature stability were synthesized by controlling sinteringbehavior. The relationship between sintering conditions, microstructure, and dielectric properties of ceramics was studied. Cubic structures were confirmed in all ceramics. Double sintering (DS) behavior can effectively improve the density, and thegrain size has no obvious change compared with non-repeated sintering. The maximum dielectric permittivity (220 at 10 kHz)and minimum leakage current (3.98×10-6 A/cm2 at 0.25 kV/cm) are obtained in the DS ceramics, which is superior to thoseof the single sintering ceramics. This can be ascribed to the higher relative density of the DS ceramics in contrast to the singlesintering ceramics. More importantly, the temperature stability of the DS sample in all samples is optimal due to the highsurface energy at grain boundaries and improved density. This work demonstrates a route to produce ceramics with weaktemperature sensitivity for microwave applications.

        High SMAS face lift: clinical experience

        Background: The ultimate goal of facelift is to lift the sagging soft tissue as much as possible, so as to restore them to the original anatomical position for facial rejuvenation. Objective: In our High-SMAS facelift, the SMAS-platysma flap were tighten strongly, so as to obtain full and youthful facial morphologic characteristics. In addition, the effectiveness of high-SMAS was evaluated in this paper. Methods: A total of 86 cases of SMAS face lift were performed in 22 months from January 2015 to November 2016. High SMAS technique was applied in 39 cases of them. All the 39 patients were female averaged 44 (29-65) years old. Postoperative follow-up wascarried out in 18 cases for an average of 13 months (4-22 months). After the SMAS-platysma flap was dissected in the lower face and neck,the key point of operating is focus on:The middle temporal fascia and superficial temporal fascia flap was dissected carefully. Break off the ligaments medial to the zygomatic arch and on the malar process exactly, and pay attention to protect the facial nerve. So that the high-SMAS and even higher-SMAS flap can be dissected. Results: In all the 18 cases followed up, most (11/18) obtained a clear mandibular margin after operation and scored even full mark. Perfect nasolabial fold improvement was achieved in few (7/18). In terms of Ogee curve evaluation, most (15/18) made it to the level of “acceptable”, which was shared by the evaluation of lower eyelid shortening effects (13/18). Very satisfied indicators as follow: the obtuse jowl line becomes clear, midface “ogee curve” is vary from linear to curves, and the nasolabial sulcus have been improved. Conclusion: High-SMAS Facelift is one of the most effective rhytidectomy, the most prominent parts of its effect including the improvement of midface and jowl line contour. Level of Evidence: IV
