The purpose of this research was to change the effects of Squash exercise on cardiopulmonary functions of females. The subject group was made up of 10 females (first start to Squash exercise). After a pretest, the subjects were given an 12-weeks Squash exercise program. Then the subjects were given a posttest and cardiopulmonary functions after 12-weeks of the program. The program schedule was made up of 3days per week, 60minutes per day. The significance level was α=0.05. The following results were statistical data of difference between pre and post-test. 1.HRmax was significantly increased. 2.RFmax was significantly increased. 3.VO2 max was significantly increased.

Benign recurrent intrahepatic cholestasis (BRIC) is a rare desease, which usually manifests between the age of 10 and 20. Its main clinical feature is multiple recurrent episodes of cholestasis without extrahepatic bile duct obstruction. We report here a case of nonfamilial benign recurrent intrahepatic cholestasis. The patient has experienced recurrent jaundice with pruritus since childhood. Main bile duct obstrution was excluded by abdominal CT and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. Other causes of cholestasis were not found. Hepatic histology revealed bile plug which were mainly concentrated in the centrilobular region, and increased number of mononuclear cells in the portal triad, but hepatic parenchyma showed no inflammation and necrosis. In the last anicteric period, she was healthy and the liver function test and biopsy specimen were normal. (Korean J Hepatol 1998;4:188 - 193)
가토에서 Pancuronium 과 Verapamil 에 의한 근이완과 심혈관반응

Pancuronium is one of the most available nondepolarizing muscle relaxant. It is primarily eliminat-ed unchanged by the kidney, although a small fraction is metabolized by the liver. On the other hand, calcium channel blocking agents are a chemically heterogeneous group of drugs that inhibit the ionic current carried through the calcium slow channel in cardiac and vascular smooth muscle. This action is the basis of their usefulness in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders. Although the role of calcium in skeletal muscle differs from that in cardiac and vascular smooth muscle, various recent studies have shown that verapamil is able to inhibit neuromuscular function in skeletal muscle preparations. However, it is not well known, yet. Increasing number of patients who are taking calcium channel blockers were reported recently. The present study was undertaken to determine if verapamil could potentiate the effects on pancuronium and how does it affect the cardiovacular response. The results were as follows; 1. Verapamil (1.41 mg) significantly enhanced the recovery index of pancuronium as 226.7 sec compared with control recovery index as 162.5 sec (p$lt;0.025). But tetanic stimulation (50Hz, 5 sec) was sustained in the both group. 2. Hypotensive effect was appeared when 1.41 mg of verapamil was given and it was taken 7.7 min. 3. Signs of cardiovascular response was decreasing the blood pressure especially diastolic first then heart rate was decreased.
Hepatoprotective Activity of Chungpesagan-tang is Related to the Inhibition of β-Glucuronidase

β-Glucuronidase-inhibitory and hepatoprotective effects of Chungpesagan-tang, which has been used for liver diseases and stroke, on CCl₄-induced hepatotoxicity of rats was investigated. Chungpesagan-tang potently inhibited β-glucuronidases. Serum AST, ALT and LDH levels of the CCl₄ group orally treated with Chungpesagan-tang (100 ㎎/㎏) were lowered to 47, 28 and 58% of the CCl₄-treated group, respectively. Among the ingredients of Chungpesagan-tang, Puerariae Radix, Scutellariae Radix and Rhei Rhizoma potently inhibited the β-glucuronidases and protected CCl₄-induced liver injury. The hepatoprotective activity of Puerariae Radix was affected by ingredients of Chungpesagan-tang: Scutellariae Radix had the synergistic activity, but Angelicae Tenussimae Radix exhibited the antagonistic activity. These results suggest that the β-glucuronidase inhibitor of herbal medicines may protect CCl₄-induced liver injury and puerarin should be a natural prodrug for the hepatoprotective effect.
