        Ileus tube placement combined with laparoscopy in the treatment of refractory small bowel obstruction: Case series and literature review

        Post-surgery small bowel obstruction (SBO) has substantial morbidity and mortality. Even with refinement of surgical technique, SBO still remains challenging with the most common causes of acute hospital admission. Most SBOs can be managed with conservative treatment. However, the pal-liative methods may fail to relieve the symptoms in some clinical settings. Currently, laparotomy is the standard of care for difficult SBO. And lapa-roscopy offers an alternative approach for operative intervention in SBO and was first described by Bastug et al in 1991. Emerging literature dem-onstrated that laparoscopic surgery for SBO is less invasive, resulting in a shorter hospital stay than open surgery. And most recurrent adhesive SBO can be managed with ileus tube placement. This case series is to evaluate the efficacy of transnasal ileus tube placement combined with laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of consecutive 5 cases of refractory SBO post oncologic gastrointestinal surgery.

        PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ELECTRIC ZAO NANOPARTICLES

        The white good dispersion zinc aluminium oxide (ZAO) nanoparticles were efficiently prepared by solid phase synthesis method. The morphologies, structures, photoelectricity of the ZAO nanoparticles and the thermochemistry behavior of the precursor were analyzed by TEM, XRD, UV-vis and TG, etc. The phytotoxicity properties of the ZAO nanoparticles were researched for the first time. The results show that the ZAO nanoparticles have a strong inhibition of seed germination and root growth. The biological toxicity of ZAO nanoparticle reduces along with the enlargement of nanoparticle size.

        Immunohistochemical Localization of Endogenous IAA in Peach (Prunus persica L.) Fruit during Development

        Peach (Prunus persica L.) is a model species for stone fruit studies within the Rosaceae family. Auxin plays an important role in the development of peach fruit. To reveal the distribution of auxin in the tissues of peach fruit, immunohistochemical localization of IAA was carried out in the seed, mesocarp, and endocarp in developing peach fruit using an anti-indole-3-acetic acid (anti-IAA) monoclonal antibody. A strong IAA signal was observed throughout the outer and inner integument during peach fruit development, and the distribution was zonal. The IAA signal was mainly focused in mucilage layers in the outer integument. The outer integument may function to produce or store IAA in the seed; a strong IAA signal was detected in the cells around the vascular tissue, whereas a weak IAA signal was located in the vascular tissues. In the mesocarp, the cells around the vascular bundle tissue gave rise to an IAA signal that increased in the late phase of fruit growth, which coincided with a significant increase in fruit growth. The distribution of IAA, however, was changed when fruit was treated with auxin transport inhibitors NPA (1-N-naphthylphthalamic acid) or TIBA (2, 3, 5-triiodobenzoic acid); in mesocarp tissues, an IAA signal was detected mainly in vessels of the t reated f ruit. During the c ritical period o f endocarp l ignification, the vessel lignification process was negatively correlated with IAA signal. The present results confirmed that the distribution of IAA was different in various tissues of peach fruit according to the developmental stage. This research provides cytological data for further study of the regulatory mechanism of auxin in peach fruit.

        Flexural Performance of Composite Beams Using High-Strength Steel and High-Strength Concrete

        The composite beams having high-strength steel (HSS) and high-strength concrete (HSC) can fully exploit the mechanical behavior of both materials. However, the published research on the structural behavior of composite beams using HSS and HSC is limited. In order to study the infl uences of shear connection degree and concrete strength on the fl exural performance of composite beams using HSS and HSC, four composite beam specimens were constructed and loaded under four-point bending test in the present study. The test results showed that the failure mechanism of the fully connected composite beams was the bending failure of steel beam and crushing failure of concrete slab. The failure mode of the partially connected composite beams was the shear failure of stud connectors and bending failure of steel beam. The composite beams having 65% and 162% shear connection degree achieved the load bearing capacity of 18.8% and 25.3% higher than the composite beam having 38% shear connection degree. With the shear connection degree increased, the bending bearing capacity of the composite beam was enhanced. The concrete strength had no obvious impact on the fl exural capacity of the composite beam having HSS and HSC. Moreover, the analytical models were put forward to predict the fl exural capacity and bending stiff ness of the composite beam using HSS and HSC.

        The modal characteristics of non-uniform multi-span continuous beam bridges

        According to the structure characteristics of the non-uniform beam bridge, a practical model for calculating the vibration equation of the non-uniform beam bridge is given and the application scope of the model includes not only the beam bridge structure but also the non-uniform beam with added masses and elastic supports. Based on the Bernoulli-Euler beam theory, extending the application of the modal perturbation method and establishment of a semi-analytical method for solving the vibration equation of the non-uniform beam with added masses and elastic supports based is able to be made. In the modal subspace of the uniform beam with the elastic supports, the variable coefficient differential equation that describes the dynamic behavior of the non-uniform beam is converted to nonlinear algebraic equations. Extending the application of the modal perturbation method is suitable for solving the vibration equation of the simply supported and continuous non-uniform beam with its arbitrary added masses and elastic supports. The examples, that are analyzed, demonstrate the high precision and fast convergence speed of the method. Further study of the timesaving method for the dynamic characteristics of symmetrical beam and the symmetry of mode shape should be developed. Eventually, the effects of elastic supports and added masses on dynamic characteristics of the three-span non-uniform beam bridge are reported.

        Tidal residual is very important to the transport in the coastal sea. In our point of view Lagrangian time averaged residual is relevent to the Eulerian one to embody the coastal circulation. Tidal system of Bohai Sea is simulated by HAMSOM and both of two kinds of tidal residual are calculated at the mean time. There are significant differences between them in some area.

        Research progress on hydrogel-based drug therapy in melanoma immunotherapy

        Melanoma is one of the most aggressive skin tumors, and conventional treatment modalities are not effective in treating advanced melanoma. Although immunotherapy is an effective treatment for melanoma, it has disadvantages, such as a poor response rate and serious systemic immune-related toxic side effects. The main solution to this problem is the use of biological materials such as hydrogels to reduce these side effects and amplify the immune killing effect against tumor cells. Hydrogels have great advantages as local slow-release drug carriers, including the ability to deliver antitumor drugs directly to the tumor site, enhance the local drug concentration in tumor tissue, reduce systemic drug distribution and exhibit good degradability. Despite these advantages, there has been limited research on the application of hydrogels in melanoma treatment. Therefore, this article provides a comprehensive review of the potential application of hydrogels in melanoma immunotherapy. Hydrogels can serve as carriers for sustained drug delivery, enabling the targeted and localized delivery of drugs with minimal systemic side effects. This approach has the potential to improve the efficacy of immunotherapy for melanoma. Thus, the use of hydrogels as drug delivery vehicles for melanoma immunotherapy has great potential and warrants further exploration.

        <P>In cold pulse experiments in J-TEXT, not only are rapid electron temperature increases in the core observed, but also steep rises in the inner density are found. Moreover, some evidence of acceleration of the core toroidal rotation is also observed during the non-local transport process of electron temperature. These new findings of cold pulse experiments in J-TEXT suggest that turbulence spreading is a possible mechanism for the non-local transport dynamics.</P>

        A 60GHz Wireless Cooperative Communication System Based on Switching Beamforming

        The challenge of penetrating obstacles along with impact from weak multipath effects makes 60GHz signal very difficult to be transmitted in non-line of sight (NLOS) channel. So 60GHz system is vulnerable to obstructions and thus likely results in link interruption. While the application of cooperative technology to solve link blockage problemin 60GHz system should consider the characteristic of directional transmission for 60GHz signal. Therefore in this paper a system is proposed to solve the link blockage problem in 60GHz NLOS communication environment based on the concept of cooperation and also the beamforming technology, which is the basis of directional transmission for 60GHz communication system. The process of anti-blockage solution with cooperative communication is presented in detail, and the fast switching and recovery schemes are well designed. The theoretical values of symbol error rate (SER) using decode and forward (DF) cooperation and amplify and forward (AF) cooperation are presented respectively when the common channel interference exists. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance based on DF cooperation is better than the performance based on AF cooperation when directional transmission is used.
