        작업관련 근골격계질환의 인간공학적 실태조사 및 분석

        The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data of the evaluation methodology in order to apply the ergonomic program for industrial workplace. The result is helpful to establish the improvement alternatives that considered the assessment tools suitable work characteristics in order to prevent musculoskeletal disorders in workplace. We analysed the collected data of workers complaining of musculoskeletal-related pains during 4 months using musculoskeletal administration program(WinCare). As the results, the pained workers had mostly a pain in low back. The results showed that the pained workers in the automotive manufacturing industry pained in several body parts because they worked using the whole body. Also, most of pained workers in the electronic industry and the other industry pained respectively in the upper limb and low back related heavy load handling. That is due to difference of body parts used in each industry. The approach of this study will help to more precise assessment of the ergonomic work postures when establishing the ergonomic improvement plan, especially to consider the application method to workplace using the suitable ergonomic assessment tools classified by type of industry.

        Potential use of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyl octadecyl ammonium chloride as an antimicrobial and antiviral agent for the disinfection of personal protective equipment

        Currently, no vaccine or established therapeutic agents are available for coronavirus disease 2019. The sharp increase in demand for personal protective equipment (PPE) necessitates an improvement in the protective efficacy of PPE. We evaluated the potential antimicrobial and antiviral effects of a surface-coating disinfectant (3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyl octadecyl ammonium chloride, Si-QAC) when applied onto PPE. Si-QAC-pre-coated PPE was artificially contaminated with either influenza virus or Salmonella. The results showed significantly reduced influenza and Salmonella titers in Si-QAC-coated PPE; these antimicrobial effects lasted 7 days. This suggests that this surface-coating disinfectant effectively reduces pathogen contamination of PPE, enabling their safe and long-term use.

        Effects of Bacillus-based probiotics on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, and intestinal health of weaned pigs

        Bacillus is characterized by the formation of spores in harsh environments, which makes it suitable for use as a probiotic for feed because of thermostability and high survival rate, even under long-term storage. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Bacillus-based probiotics on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, intestinal morphology, immune response, and intestinal microbiota of weaned pigs. A total of 40 weaned pigs (7.01 ± 0.86 kg body weight [BW]; 28 d old) were randomly assigned to two treatments (4 pigs/ pen; 5 replicates/treatment) in a randomized complete block design (block = BW and sex). The dietary treatment was either a typical nursery diet based on corn and soybean meal (CON) or CON supplemented with 0.01% probiotics containing a mixture of Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis (PRO). Fecal samples were collected daily by rectal palpation for the last 3 days after a 4-day adaptation. Blood, ileal digesta, and intestinal tissue samples were collected from one pig in each pen at the respective time points. The PRO group did not affect the feed efficiency, but the average daily gain was significantly improved (p < 0.05). The PRO group showed a trend of improved crude protein digestibility (p < 0.10). The serum transforming growth factor-β1 level tended to be higher (p < 0.10) in the PRO group on days 7 and 14. There was no difference in phylum level of the intestinal microbiota, but there were differences in genus composition and proportions. However, β-diversity analysis showed no statistical differences between the CON and the PRO groups. Taken together, Bacillus-based probiotics had beneficial effects on the growth performance, immune system, and intestinal microbiota of weaned pigs, suggesting that Bacillus can be utilized as a functional probiotic for weaned pigs.

      • The Results of the Risk Factors Analysis and Evaluation for the type of VDT work

        The purpose of this study was to analysis the risk factors of musculoskeletal disorders for the type of office work, and then the seven sites were selected. In this study, office work was divided into data search, data entry and design work (drawings, etc.). We recorded working postures and obtained still images, depending on the type of office work. Then, RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment) and ROSA (Rapid Office Strain Assessment) were used to analysis the risk factors. The results of RULA showed that design work was under risk levels and required change, but ROSA showed that data entry and design work were high risk. These results, the RULA is to evaluate the level of risk factors based on the working posture; on the other hand, the ROSA is to consider the use of peripheral, same as chair, keyboard/mouse, monitor and computer workstations. Conclusions of this study, the office work is necessary to identify the risk factors caused by the use of peripheral, as well as working posture.

        Types of Usual Source of Care and Patient-Centered Communications

        Background: A usual source of care (USC) is related to longitudinal and personalized services, which are attributes of primary care. Patient-centered communication, an important element of patient-centered care, helps physicians understand health problems from a patient’s point of view. We analyzed the association between USC and patient-centered communication.Methods: Data from the Korea Health Panel 2018 were used in the analysis. Patient-centered communication scores were obtained by combining the four communication-related questionnaire items. Usual source of care types were categorized based on responses to two questionnaire items: no USC, a place without a regular doctor and with a regular doctor. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to adjust for confounders.Results: Good communication rate was higher for those with a regular doctor (71.8%) than for those with no USC (61.8%) or a place only (61.5%). Those with a regular doctor had better communication (odds ratio, 1.49 for individ-uals with poor/moderate health, and 2.08 for those with good health) than those without a USC after adjusting for confounders. In terms of communication, no difference was observed between individuals with no USC and those with a place only.Conclusion: Having a regular doctor promotes communication between patients and doctors. Good communica-tion may be a mediator between having a regular doctor and related beneficial outcomes. Better communication by having a regular doctor, along with several other benefits identified in previous studies suggests the need for a health policy that encourages individuals to have regular doctors.

        Comparative study of the Korean Regulations, Standards and Guidelines for the Human Vibrationwith Other Countries

        Objective: The aim of this study is to review the literatures on the regulation, standard and guideline for the human vibration in Korea and other countries. Background: This review can be used to prevent various diseases caused by the human vibration as a basis for the development of the policy. Results: In Korea, the general employers" duties related to human vibration are set forth the Health Measures(Article 24) in the Occupational Safety and Health Act. And then an employer shall take measures to protect the health of the workers concerned by improving other working conditions relating to working hours for the vibration prevention measures referred to in Article 24 of the Act. The European Union adopted a Directive in 2002 on minimum requirements for the health and safety of workers exposed to vibration. New Regulations on Vibration at Work will be introduced in Great Britain on 2005 to implement the Directive. In the U.S., both ANSI and ACGIH adopted the ISO standard for measurement and suggested exposure action and limit values. In Japan, the Ministry of Labor decided that the vibration syndrome among operators of rock drills and riveters etc. could be included in an occupational disease(1947). In addition, ISO standard was based on proposals and draft documents of many countries such as U.K, Japan and European, etc. Conclusion: In Korea, Occupational Safety and Health Act prevent vibration to health, but do not include exposure limits. It is therefore important to consider the new duties regarding to vibration risks added to the general duties.

        Glucanhydrolase from Lipomyces starkeyi KSM 22 as Potential Mouthwash Ingredient

        A glucanhydrolase (a DXAMase exhibiting both dextranolytic and amylolytic activities) from Lipomyces starkeyi KSM 22 hydrolyzed polysaccharides having α-(1→3)-, α-(1→4)-, and α-(1→6)-D-glucosidic likages. The oral hygiene benefits of DXAMase-containing mouthwash were examined in relation to human experimental gingivitis during a 3-week period without brushing. The DXAMase-treated group exhibitied a lower increase in plaque accumulation and gingival index score than the chlorhexidine-treated group. The DXAMase-treated group also showed less tongue accumulation, had taste, and tooth staining, thus indicating a positive role for DXAMase as an antiplaque agent ingredient.

        A Study for the Appropriateness of the Different Reference Points in the Analysis of Working Posture

        Objective & Background: When applying various evaluation tools that analyze work posture risk through observation, accurate measurement of body flexion angle is very important. Method: This study investigated differences and appropriateness of 5 different existing reference points commonly used in the analysis of the work posture. Twenty five ergonomist and trained professionals were participated in this study. A Same flexion angle was utilized for the evaluation of risk assessment of musculoskeletal disorders using five different reference points to investigate the degree of difference between them. To investigate how different the observers’ preferred flexion angle measuring methods were compared to the ISO 11226 Reference Posture, a virtual body model was constructed using the Poser 6.0 program. Six types of body flexion postures were constructed, and since neck flexion differs according to body angle, five types of neck flexion postures were constructed with the trunk bending 20° forward, making up a total of 30 virtual flexion postures. Results: Results showed that the observers used personally preferred reference points instead of reference points recommend in the evaluation tools. Also the results revealed the their seems to be 6 types of flexion angle for the trunk and 11 types of measurement methods for the neck flexion angle in the form of personally preferred reference points. The results showed that a mean difference of 14°(4~23°) occurred in the trunk, and a mean difference of 20°(-8~51°) occurred in the neck. To increase accuracy when using the 5 evaluation tools in combination, the ISO 11226 standards, observers’ preferred flexion posture standards, and common flexion posture standards of the evaluation tools were compared with the reference points of the 5 evaluation tools. Results showed considerable variance in angle difference for each evaluation tool. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, considering the angle difference between the flexion angle reference points of the evaluation tool and the reference points selected by the observers, it is concluded that instead of personally preferred reference points, the standardized reference points to enhance the accuracy and the objectivity. Application: The result of this study can be used as reference guide to develop the standardized reference point in the future.

      • The analysis of the load on the lumbar region associated with lifting a patient by rescue workers

        The purpose of this study was to provide a practical guide to the proper way of lifting a patient using various types of stretcher that rescue crews use by analyzing the load on the lumbar region. The experiment was conducted with working male and female rescue crews. Having mixed groups of gender complete tasks such as lifting, moving, and unloading a patient using four different types of stretcher, we recorded variations of the lumbar bending angle and calculated the load on the lumbar region using 3D SSPP. The data showed, in terms of the lumbar bending angle, it was greater when only females were involved in the work, and there were very significant differences in the angle depending on the types of stretcher used and body sizes of each subject. In the analysis of the load on the lumbar based on the bending angle, NIOSH was over the recommended limit in certain groups. Utilizing the analysis, it is recommended, in the medium and long term, to improve equipments for rescue personnel and to guide them to the proper way of working.

        Decoding the intestinal microbiota repertoire of sow and weaned pigs using culturomic and metagenomic approaches

        To elucidate the role and mechanism of microbes, we combined culture-dependent and culture-independent approaches to investigate differences in gut bacterial composition between sows and weaned pigs. Under anaerobic conditions, several nonselective and selective media were used for isolation from fecal samples. All isolated bacteria were identified and classified through 16S rRNA sequencing, and the microbiota composition of the fecal samples was analyzed by metagenomics using next generation sequencing (NGS) technology. A total of 278 and 149 colonies were acquired from the sow and weaned pig fecal samples, respectively. Culturomics analysis revealed that diverse bacterial genus and species belonged to Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, and Bacteroidetes were isolated from sow and weaned pigs. When comparing culture-dependent and culture-independent analyses, 191 bacterial species and 2 archaeal bacterial species were detected through culture-independent analysis, and a total of 23 bacteria were isolated through a culture-dependent approach, of which 65% were not detected by metagenomics. In conclusion, culturomics and metagenomics should be properly combined to fully understand the intestinal microbiota, and livestock-derived microbial resources should be informed by culturomic approaches to understand and utilize the mechanism of host-microbe interactions.
