      • Anti-Inflammatory and Cytoprotective Effects of TMC-256C1 from Marine-Derived Fungus <i>Aspergillus</i> sp. SF-6354 via up-Regulation of Heme Oxygenase-1 in Murine Hippocampal and Microglial Cell Lines

        <P>In the course of searching for bioactive secondary metabolites from marine fungi, TMC-256C1 was isolated from an ethyl acetate extract of the marine-derived fungus <I>Aspergillus</I> sp. SF6354. TMC-256C1 displayed anti-neuroinflammatory effect in BV2 microglial cells induced by lipopolysaccharides (LPS) as well as neuroprotective effect against glutamate-stimulated neurotoxicity in mouse hippocampal HT22 cells. TMC-256C1 was shown to develop a cellular resistance to oxidative damage caused by glutamate-induced cytotoxicity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in HT22 cells, and suppress the inflammation process in LPS-stimulated BV2 cells. Furthermore, the neuroprotective and anti-neuroinflammatory activities of TMC-256C1 were associated with upregulated expression of heme oxygenase (HO)-1 and nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) in HT22 and BV2 cells. We also found that TMC-256C1 activated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathways in HT22 and BV2 cells. These results demonstrated that TMC-256C1 activates HO-1 protein expression, probably by increasing nuclear Nrf2 levels via the activation of the p38 MAPK and PI3K/Akt pathways.</P>

        유도초음파에 의한 비균질 적층의 접합층두께 평가

        비균질 적층 구조물에서의 유도초음파 전파는 이론적 분산성에 기초하여 실험적으로 규명된다. 이는 입사각도와 주파수의 적절한 선택은 적층구조물에서의 유도초음파 발생에 중요하다는 것을 드러낸다. 이론적 분산성은 접착층 두께와 층 두께, 물성치에 크게 의존한다. 실험적으로 분산성의 변화를 관찰하므로 비균질 적층 구조물의 접착층 두께를 측정하는 것이 가능하였다. The guided wave propagation in inhomegeneous multi-layered structures is experimentally explored based on theoretical dispersion curves. It turns out that proper selection of incident angle and frequency is critical for guided wave generation in multi-layered structures. Theoretical dispersion curves greatly depend on adhesive zone thickness, layer thickness and material properties. It was possible to determine the adhesive zone thickness of an inhomogeneous multi-layered structure by monitoring experimentally the change of dispersion curves.

        자색고구마가 사염화탄소 투여에 의한 흰쥐의 간손상 보호에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary purple sweet potato(lpomoea batatas) powder on serum lipid levels and antioxidative enzymes in normal and pretective effect on hepatotoxicity rats induced by carbon tetrachlolide. Four groups of rats (3-week-old inbred Sprague-Dawley male rats) were normal rats fed control diet(C)_(1) induced hepatotoxicity rats fed control diet(EC)_(1) normal rats fed purple sweet potato diet(P), and induced hepatotoxicity rats fed purple potato sweet diet(EP). Rats were induced by single injection of 50% carbon tetrachloide(0.1 mL/100 g B.W., i.p.). The rats were fed ad libitum each of the experimental diet for 5 weeks. After 5 weeks the rats were sacrificed and activities of antioxidant enzymes and lipid peroxidation products were determined in their liver homogenates. But serum concentrations of lipid was not significant in all groups. Serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT/GPT) and aspartate aminotransferase(ALT/GPT)of the EC and EP groups were heigher than the C and P groups. The hepatic glucose 6-phosphatase(G9Pase) activity of the group fed purple potato diet(P) was lower than the other groups(p<0.05). However, The glutathione peroxidase(GPx) activities was not statistically different between the groups. Renal glutathione S-transferase(GST) activity of the EC and EP groups were lower than the C and P groups(p<0.05). In conclusion, these results suggest that purple sweet potato is believed to be possible protective effect on hepatotoxicity rats induced by carbon tetrachlolide.

        유한 고체내 탄성동역학 문제의 모델링

        본 논문에서는 유한 고체내 초음파 및 산란 현상의 해석을 위한 다양한 경계요소 모델링 기법이 제시되었다. 박판 재료내 유도초음파 전파에 대한 모드해석을 위해 비균질 적층 박판 구조물에 대한 탄성동역학 경계치 문제가 설정되었으며 이에 대한 수치해로부터 유도초음파의 전파특성을 나타내는 분산곡선이 얻어졌다. 파동 산란시 발생되는 기하학적 복잡성과 모드변환 문제를 수치적으로 모델링하기 위해 탄성 동역학 경계요소법을 적용하였고 이를 박판내 유도초음파의 이론적 직교 모드의 중첩해와 결합시킨 혼합형 경계요소법으로 확장하여 유한 고체내 다중 모드변환의 효율적 모델링법이 제안되었다. 주파수 영역의 수치해로부터 시간 의존 문제의 파동신호 예측을 위해 역 푸리에(Fourier) 변환을 통한 시간 영역 파동산란 신호가 얻어졌다. 이와 함께 실제 초음파 탐상조건에 보다 가까운 파동산란 문제의 모델링을 위해 3차원 경계요소법을 소개하고, 개발중인 3차원 경계요소 프로그램을 이용하여 유한 직경을 갖는 봉재내의 파동 전파를 수치적으로 해석하여 해석해와 비교 검증하였다. 본 논문에서 제시된 탄성파동 모델링 기법은 정량적 비파괴 평가법을 확립하는데 다양하게 응 용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. Various modeling techniques for ultrasonic wave propagation and scattering problems in finite solid media are presented. Elastodynamic boundary value problems in inhomogeneous multi-layered plate-like structures are set up for modal analysis of guided wave propagation and numerically solve to obtain dispersion curves which show propagation characteristics of guided wave. As a powerful modeling tool to overcome such numerical difficulties in wave scattering problems as the geometrical complexity and mode conversion, the Boundary Element Method(BEM is introduced and is combined with the normal mode expansion technique to develop the hybrid BEM, an efficient technique for modeling multi mode conversion of guided wave scattering problems. Time dependent wave forms are obtained through the inverse Fourier transformation of the numerical solutions in the frequency domain. 3D BEM program development is underway to model more practical ultrasonic wave signals. Some encouraging numerical results have recently been obtained in comparison with the analytical solutions for wave propagation in a bar subjected to time harmonic longitudinal excitation. It is expected that the presented modeling techniques for elastic wave propagation and scattering can be applied to establish quantitative nondestructive evaluation techniques in various ways.

        IT has an influence on the travel agency as chance and threat. The purpose of this study is to find what profit model of cyber travel agency. Ernst&Young's five business profit models that are based on target audience and transaction focus is selected to evaluated existing model of cyber travel agency. Those are off-line facilitator, gateway, context provider, commerce destination, online exchange. The result of this study show that there is no specific profit model in domestic cyber and on-offline travel agencies. Just Portal cyber travel agencies abroad have a few profit model. They have online exchange model, which are various target audience and abound provide contents.

        A successful treatment of infants and children with congenital heart defects depends upon several factors: diagnosis must be accurate, the operative technique, including techniques of perfusion and myocardial preservation, must be suited to the needs of patients and intensive cares, including accurate anesthesia, must be applied through all stages of investigation and treatment, i.e. before, during and after the operation. Recently we performed a open heart surgery successfully for a six-years old girl who had suffered from frequent upper respiratory tract infection and mild to moderate exertional dyspnea with congenital heart defects (ventricular septal defect, Kirklin type II, with patent foramen ovale). The operation and postoperative course were very smooth. And now we report this with review of literatures.

      • Cyclic 활성슬러지 공정을 이용한 돈사폐수의 영양소 제거특성

        The cyclic activated sludge process is a modified activated sludge using the sequencing batch reactor(SBR) operation that can achieve the combination of carbon oxidation and nutrient removal. The operational characteristics of cyclic activated sludge process include a time-sequenced operation of anaerobic/aerobic/anoxic condition in a single reactor to achieve a maximum efficiency. The application of cyclic activated sludge process is, however, usually focused on the low strength wastewater including domestic sewage. As a result, limited attention has given to the high strength wastewater, especially for the piggery wastewater. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate an optimum operational cyclic to achieve combination of organic and nutrient removal using the piggery wastewater. The factors affecting inhibitory effects on nitrification during the cyclic operation is further determined. The result of this study, optimum operational cyclic of activated sludge process is 1hr : 2hr A/O(anoxic/oxic) ratio. Also, It was efficient that the SRT is operated more than 10 days and the specific nitrification rates were 0.04~0.24 ㎎N/gMv/hr at 20℃. Nitrification inhibition of piggery wastewater was found to occur at an influent volumetric loading over 0.3 NH₄-N ㎏/㎥/d. After a biological treatment, remaining phosphorus removal experiments were executed in oxidized ferrous column. As a result, the experiment showed the high density of variation in concentration by contact time on air. As for column aeration, completely phosphorus removal time was 25 minutes in contact time on air(20 hr) with aeration and 400 minutes(w/aeration) and 580 minutes(w/o aeration) in contact time on air(0 hr) respectively.

      • Ca^(2+)-감수성 증가기전과 평활근 수축

        Smooth muscle contraction is regulated by intracellular Ca^(2+) ([Ca^(2+)]_(i)) and the phosphorylation of myosin light chain (MLC). However, various kinds of vasoconstrictors induce a further contraction at a given [Ca^(2+)]_(i), and elicit a sustained contraction under Ca^(2+) -depleted conditions, referred to as "Ca^(2+) -sensitization", in intact and membrane-pen-neabilized smooth muscle. Previously, several molecules, including protein kinase C (PKC), RhoA, and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK), have been suggested as candidate regulators of Ca^(2+) -sensitization. In the present review, we describe the role of PKC, RhoA, and MAPK in the regulation of Ca^(2+) -sensitization, and suggest a new model in research for the regulation of smooth muscle contraction.
