Conductivity of DNA with a Single Base Pair Mismatch

We examine the effect of an intervening base pair mismatch on the conductivity of a homogeneous DNA duplex. The mismatch is modeled by introducing three independent parameters based on experimental observation which indicate that the effects of a mismatch are localized mostly in the vicinity of the mismatch. We find that an interruption of the π-stacking and an on-site energy deviation due to the mismatch cause a reduction of the conductivity in DNA while a destabilized hydrogen bonding has much less effect. Also, the results depend on the locations of electron reservoirs, i.e., whether or not they are attached to the same strand.
Characterization of Etch Resistance Property of Imprinting Resin

Nanoimprint lithography has been intensively researched since it can fabricate nano-scale patterns on large area substrates. Thermal nanoimprinting, using a monomer-based resist has gained more interest due to its shorter process time and lower process temperature, compared to the conventional hot embossing process. A near-zero residual layer imprint process can also be done using monomer-based imprint resin, due to its low viscosity. However, the poor etch resistance of monomer-based imprint resin limits its possible applications. In this study, Methacryloxypropyl terminated Poly-Dimethylsiloxanes material was added to a monomer-based thermal imprint resin, and its effect on etch resistance and imprintability was investigated.
설소대성형술이 발음 및 혀의 운동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

This sutdy aimed at examining the effect of lingual frenectomy on phonation & tongue movement. Almost the patient visiting to department of oral & maxillofacial surgery for the treatment of tongue tie always complain the speech problem. Many operation was performed according to this problem. But the objective evaluation of the speech change have been deficient. The experimental group was 25 adult males. Fourteen Korean consonants & after Korean vowels was combined and seventy sound was made for speech analysis. Before & after lingual frenectomy, the speech of the above mentioned group was recorded and then analysed by the Speech Workstation computer software. And before & after operation, the lingual frenum & tongue protrusion amount vas measured. The results were as follows : 1. The pre-operative length of lingual frenum was inverse proportion with the pre-operative length of the protrusive tongue. 2. The average difference between pre & post-operative length of the protrusive tongue was about 23 mm. 3. In the comparison of consonant continuing time change, fricative consonant(r, s, h) was increased post-operatively. 4. In the comparison of the vowel frequency formant change, the "i"and "u" sound vas reliably changed. 5. There was no reliable speech changes on the other sounds.
Charge Transport in DNA with a Base Pair Opening

We investigate the effect of a base pair opening on the charge transport in double-stranded DNA. Poly(G)-poly(C) homopolymer, with a donor and an acceptor located on the same strand (say, strand 1), is studied specifically. When the incident charge energy lies within the molecular band of strand 1, the charge transport is unaffected by the base pair opening, irrespective of the number of opened base pairs and their sites. In contrast, when the incident energy lies inside the band of the complementary strand (strand 2), the charge transport decreases drastically when a base pair opening occurs at the site nearest to a donor or an acceptor.
Effect of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) on Breast Cancer Cells

Today, many materials as drug are developed having various prominent function in order to treatment of disease or cancer. Among these materials, especially docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), main constituents of omega-3 fatty acid, has a lot of beneficial and natural effects, so it has been known as anticancer material especially breast cancer. Breast cancer is disease taking high occurrence level among feminine diseases. DHA has anticancer effects on breast cancer cell, representatively inducing apoptosis, inhibiting proliferation or metastasis. Main effect of DHA on breast cancer cell is apoptosis inducing, which has mechanism that treated DHA causes lipid peroxidation increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) level and it activates caspase 8 and caspase 9 so activated caspase occurs apoptosis. Cell lines of breast cancer are MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, SK-BR-3, T47D and ZR75. Especially this article uses the MCF-7 cell line at experiment of anti-proliferation by DHA, the MDA-MB-231 cell line at experiment of anti-metastasis by DHA, because that cell line has specialized metastasis activity. Therefore, this paper discusses the effects of natural material DHA as drug of breast cancer.
IBA 사이클로트론 표적집합체에서의 잔류 방사화 분석 및 선량률 평가

사이클로트론을 이용하여 18F-동위원소를 생산하는 경우 가속된 양성자 빔은 사이클로트론의 금속부품들과 반응하여 방사화를 일으킨다. 그 중에서도 빔과 주요하게 반응하는 표적집합체를 구성하는 표적실, 표적창에 장반감기의 핵종이 많이 발생한다. 이러한 표적집합체의 방사화 핵종을 잘 이해하는 것은 사이클로트론 운영자와 유지 보수 작업자를 위해서 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 IBA(Ion Beam Application)사 사이클로트론 Cyclone 18/9 기기의 표적집합체 유지보수 작업자의 방사선 안전지침을 마련하기 위해서 사이클로트론 가동 후 표적집합체에 발생되는 주요 핵종을 분석하고, 또한, 사이클로트론 가동정지 직후부터의 선량감소율을 실험적으로 측정하였다. 18F-동위원소 생산 후 표적집합체의 잔류 방사화 핵종의 종류 및 방사능농도를 확인하기 위하여, 표적실내 잔류물질 및표적창 하버포일 시료를 채취하여 고순도 게르마늄(HPGe) 감마핵종분석기로 측정하여 분석하였다. 또한, 사이클로트론 가동직후 사이클로트론에서 발생되는 선량률을 시간에 따라 측정하였다. 감마핵종분석과 선량률감소에 대한 데이터는 추후 사이클로트론 운영의 방사선안전을 위한 데이터로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Growth and characterization of hexagonal boron nitrides by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy

Atomically thin Van der Waals materials such as graphene, metal dichalcogenides and h-BN have been intensively studied for their extraordinary quantum behaviors and potential device applications. Among those 2D materials, h-BN is a significant insulating component, known to have very large energy band gap of ~6 eV. In addition, h-BN is a decent substrate for the other 2D materials due to very clean surface without dangling bonds on the surface. In this study, we present wafer scale growth of a few layer h-BN achieved by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE). Properties of grown h-BN, including atomic structure and wafer-scale uniformity, are investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray absorption fined structure (NEXAFS). Furthermore, we demonstrate h-BN as a substrate for graphene FET, showing superior performance to SiO2 substrate.
