Tarsal tunnel syndrome caused by ganglion as space occupying lesion is unusual and known that excellent result can be expected from surgical treatment carried out soon after onset of the condition. The object of the current study is to report our experience of tarsal tunnel syndrome caused by ganglion of flexor digitorum longus tendon sheath treated with operative management in a 39 year-old man with a review of the literature.

Giant cell tumor was described by Sir Astley Cooper in 1818. This tumor is considered to be a benign tumor but has problems of recurrence and metastatic change after treatment. Methods of operative treatment of this tumor have included currettage, currettage and bone graft, excision, resection, excision and graft and amputation. We experienced a case of giant cell tumor which involved the distal part of right radius and treated by wide excision and fibular graft. The postoperative courses have been satisfactory because of no recurrence or malignant change. After 6 years and 1 month follow up, the patient was able to return to daily life without any problem.

A 57-year-old man who simultaneously underwent an operation for repair of rotator cuff and a revision operation for nonunion of a Pilon fracture presented with osteomyelitis of the humeral head on the 19th day after surgery due to MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) infection. Infection was controlled after administration of appropriate intravenous antibiotic therapy and performance of several surgical procedures. However, devastating defects at the humeral head and the rotator cuff remained. No case of short term MRSA induced osteomyelitis has been reported.

N/A Most of hepatocellular carcinomas, especially in Korea, are considered as inoperable due to extrerne tumor extension at the tirne of diagnosis and underlying advanced liver cirrhosis. The normal liver receives a dual blood supply from the hepatic artery and the portal vein whereas hepatoma is fed preferentially by the hepatic artery. With the background above mentioned, hepatic arterial chemotherapy or chemoembolization in hepatocellular carcinoma has been regarded as an important treatment modality for unresectable hepatocelluar carcino- ma. It has been found that the lipid lymphographic agent such as Lipiodol(ethiodized oil), which can be mixed with chemotherapeutic agents, is selectively retained within hepatocelluar carcinoma when it is injected into the hepatic artery. Based on recent promising therapeutic results in hepatocelluar carcinoma treated with hepatic arterial C DDP infusion combined with Lipiodol, we studied to elucidate the therpeutic efficacy of the hepatic arterial chemotherapy with C DDP combined with Lipiodol and to compare the differences in thera- peutic efficacy between C-DDP rnonotherapy group (Group 1) and C-DDP/doxorubicin combi- nation therapy group(Group 2). In all 42 cases there were 1 complete response(2%), 4 partial responses(10%), 7 rninimal responses(17%), 15 stab1e diseases(36%) and 15 progressive diseases (36%). There were no differences of response rate and survival duration between Group 1 and Group 2, and there was a significant difference of survival duration between responder group (CR+PR+MR) and nonresponder group(SD+PD) (P<0.01). In conclusion hepatic arterial chemotherapy with C DDP and/or doxorubicin and Lipiodol appears to have relatively weak activity in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.
