        개에서 전십자 인대 단열의 초음파적 평가

        Ultrasonographic examination of the stifle joint four clinically and radiographically normal adult dogs was performed before and after inducing the cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL) rupture of the bilateral stifle surgically. At pre- or post-surgery, the hyperechoic patella ligament and the echogenic infrapatella fat interfered the visualization of the CrCL by the plain scanning method. However when the stifle joint was imaged by the scanning method injecting normal saline within the joint capsule, the hyperechogenic ligament was visualized by the separation of the infrapatella fat and the CrCL and the contrast effect of anechoic saline. When the stifle joint was imaged by the real time scanning method after the induction of the surgical rupture, fluttering of the ligament and anechoic area between the bone and the CrCL was identified due to the lack of tonicity and continuity of the ligament. Enlargement of the ligament because of its increased diameter as well as fluttering of the CrCL and the increased joint space's thickness was visualized. Consequently, confirming fluttering of the CrCL, increased ligament diameter and anechoic region between the CrCL and the bone, ultrasonographic examination is a valuable diagnostic tool as well as cranial drawer test and radiographic examination.

        Radiographic, MRI and Histopathologic Assessment to Standardize Canine Spinal Cord Injury Model

        Previous studies could not offer available guideline to decide size of balloon and grade of injury before induction of spinal cord injury (SCI) because grade of SCI was assessed after inserting a catheter and each experimental animal were different in body size and weight as well as in species. This study was performed to provide guideline for standardized SCI model. Eight healthy adult beagle dogs that had 8 mm of spinal canal height were assigned to four groups according to the diameter of balloon and compression time: 4 mm/3hrs, 4 mm/6hrs, 4 mm/12hrs and 6 mm/3hrs group. Radiography was performed to standardize between experimental animal and balloon before selecting balloon diameter to induce SCI. Behaviors outcomes, somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and histopathological examination were evaluated. Behaviors outcomes and SEPs were not available to assess grade of SCI and those only indicate SCI. The damaged area was revealed clear hyperintensity on STIR image and T2WI after induction of SCI. The hyperintense area on MRI was cranially and caudally expanded with increasing of the diameter of balloon or the compression time. Well corresponded to expanding of hyperintense area on MRI, the damaged region and the numbers of caspase-3 and PARP immunoreactive cells were increased on histopathological findings. Therefore, these results will be considered fundamental data to induce standardized SCI model in experimental animal that has various weight and size.

        Radiographic Diagnosis of Atresia Coli in a Korean Native Calf

        A 5-day-old male Korean native calf was referred with the primary complaint of anorexia, absence of feces,depression, and abdominal distention. Although this case was tentatively diagnosed as atresia coli, plain and contrast radiography was performed to confirm site and appearance of obstruction. A plain radiograph revealed gas distension in the large intestine, with absence of fecal material in the descending colon. In a contrast radiograph, the blind part of descending colon that was accumulated with contrast media smoothly protruded to distended colon with gas and the middle part was seen as narrow. These findings were well corresponded with the mucosal blockage junction between distended spiral loop with gas and descending colon that was hypoplasia or atropy in necropsy. In conclusion, contrast radiography was considered very useful method to identify the site and type of obstruction in diagnosis of atresia coli.

        셰퍼드견에서 범골염 진단례

        A 18-month-old, 35.3kg, intact male German shepherd dog with a history of non-weight bearing lameness in the right hindlimb was referred to Veterinary Teaching Hospital, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University. On physical examination, pain response was elicited. Laboratory abnormalities were not present. Radiographic examination revealed areas of increased opacity in the medullary cavity and accentuation of trabecular patterns of the affected bone. This dog was treated with analgesics and lameness was resolved without pain

      • Solvolytic Reactions of Nucleophilic Aqueous Fluorinated Alcohols with Various Substrates

        2,2,3,3-테트라플루오르-1-프로판올과 물 2성분혼합용매계에서 메틸토실레이트, 1-할로겐화아다만탄 및 3차- 할로겐화부틸의 가용매분해반응의 속도론적자료로부터 플루오르화알코올의 용매효과를 논의하였다. 속도상수의 크기순서는 혼합용매의 조성에 관계없이 t-BuX>1-AdX>MeOTs이었다. 플루오르화 알코올과 물 2성분혼합용매의 각 조성에서 이온화력의 변화는 1-할로겐화아다만탄에서 보다는 3차-할로겐화부틸에서 크게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 극성-편극성이 큰 플루오르화 알코올 분자가 물분자와 수소결합으로 잘 회합되어 수소결합 주게능력과 극성-편극성 효과가 협력적으로 작용하여 나타나는 현상으로 여겨진다. The solvent effect for fluorinated alcohol solvent mixtures has been studied by the solvolytic reaction of methyltosylate, 1-adamantyl halides and t-butyl halides in 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propanol and water binary mixtures. The order of magnitude for the solvolytic rate constants is t-BuX>1-AdX>MeOTs in the same content of 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propanol-water mixture. A variation of ionizing power of solvent, Y for t-butyl halides changes very large but for adamantyl halides a little. This result has been interpreted as a phenomenon of cooperative enhance of polarity-polarizability and hydrogen bond donor ability of solvents.

      • Kinetic Studies on Nucleophilic Substitution Reaction of Naphthalene Carbonyl Chloride

        1- 및 2-염화나프탈렌카르보닐의 加메탈올 분해반응 속도를 메탄올-아세톤, 메탄올-아세토니트릴 혼합용매 속에서 측정하였다. 각 혼합용매마다 공통적으로 1-염화나프탈렌 카르보닐이 2-염화나프탈렌 카르보닐보다 반응속도 상수가 크게 관측되었다. 이것은 Dewar수, Nr과 Streitwieser의 σ( )값과도 일치하였다. 카르보닐탄소가 천이상태에서 sp( )로 바뀌어 인접수소에 의한 입체장애가 없어지는 것을 알 수 있었다.

        Changes in Quality of Dried Rice Cake Using Perforation Process and Drying Methods

        Korean sliced rice cakes, or tteokguk, are conventionally dried and rehydrated during their preparation. In this study, the effects of the perforation process and various drying methods (e.g., hot-air drying, vacuum drying, low temperature drying, and freeze drying) on the quality characteristics of tteokguk (rice cake soup) were evaluated. In the experiment, the rehydration capacity and lightness increased as the pore number increased. The hardness, redness, and yellowness of tteokguk, in contrast, tended to decrease as perforations increased. The texture, taste, and overall acceptability scores of tteokguk increased as perforations increased. With respect to drying methods, the rehydration capacity was greatest for vacuum drying. The hardness of tteokguk was lowest for vacuum drying. The redness, yellowness, pH, and sensory characteristics did not differ significantly among tteokguk samples treated through various drying methods. These results suggest that high-quality ready-to-eat Korean sliced rice cakes could be created by perforation and vacuum drying.
