Design and Optimization of Hydrogen Supply Chain of South Korea

Global climate change and exhaustion of fossil fuels have been making pressure to introduce renewable and sustainable energy sources. Hydrogen is one of the most promising energy carriers which can increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emission. While the use of hydrogen fuel is expected to rapidly increase in transportation, energy storage system, and fuel cell for electricity generation, research on optimization methodology to design hydrogen supply chain is still required to minimize investment cost for hydrogen infrastructure. This study constructs an optimization model for hydrogen supply chain in case of South Korea and considers various hydrogen supply pathways and storage configurations with different types of production technologies and transportation modes.
메탄올-아세톤 분리를 위한 압력 변환 증류 공정에서 환류를 통한 유입 조성 최적화

본 연구에서는 메탄올-아세톤 압력 변환 증류 공정에서 유입 흐름의 조성 최적화를 진행하였다. 압력 변환 증류 공정에서 유입 흐름의 조성은 혼합물 분리가능성에 지대한 영향을 주는 것이 잘 알려져 있다. 분리된 순수한 물질의 환류흐름을 이용하여 유입 흐름의 조성을 조절하여 정해진 압력에서 보다 나은 분리효율을 보이는 것을 이번 연구의 목적으로 한다. 환류 흐름이 없는 압력 변환 증류 공정을 기본 공정으로 하여, 메탄올의 환류 흐름이 있는 경우와 아세톤의 환류 흐름이 있는 경우 두 가지 공정이 설계되었다. 각 공정은 Total annual cost로 비교되었으며, 그 결과 환류 흐름이 없는 기본 공정이 가장 유리한 것으로 나타났다. In this research, the composition of the feed stream is optimized in pressure swing distillation for separating of methanol-acetone. It is well known that the composition of feed stream in pressure swing distillation system has a great influence on the feasibility to separate mixture. The workscope of this study is to show better separation efficiency at specified pressure by controlling the composition of feed stream with recycle of two products. Based on the base case without recycle flow, two processes are designed that methanol and acetone are recycled to feed stream, respectively. Each processes are compared with total annual cost and as a result, the base case without recycle flow are most favorable.
Optimization of Hydrogen Supply Chain

Hydrogen attracts the attention as a clean energy source. However, the economic viability of hydrogen needs to be guaranteed for its extensive usability. For this purpose, the comprehensive analysis on its supply chain should be performed ranging from hydrogen production, storage, tranportation and distribution. In this study, mathematical optimization model for hydrogen supply chain was formulated and solved to find its feasibility. Then, the economic and environmental viablity was evaluated through case studies covering major cities in Korea.
Morel-Lavallée Lesion in the Sacrococcygeal Area with Associated Coccygeal Fracture

A Morel-Lavallée lesion is a posttraumatic, closed internal degloving injury caused by shearing force abruptly separating the skin and superficial fascia from the deep fascia and creating a potential space. Blood, lymphatic fluid, and debris collect and fill the space. The most commonly affected sites are the thigh, knee, hip, and pelvic area, but the lesion can occur anywhere in the body. Among various treatments, surgical procedure is a good option if the lesion is chronic and a thick peripheral capsule has developed. We report an uncommon case of a chronic Morel-Lavallée lesion in the sacrococcygeal area, a rarely reported location, with an associated coccygeal fracture and dislocation.
