Nanostructured titanium dioxide (NTiO2) is known to possess efficient photocatalytic activityand to have diverse applications in many fields due to its chemical stability, high surface area/volumeratio, high transmittance, and high refractive index in the visible and the near-ultraviolet regions. These facts prompted us to develop TiO2 nanotube (TiO2 NT) arrays through electrochemicalanodic oxidation involving different electrolytes comprised of phosphoric acid - hydrofluoric acidaqueous systems by varying the voltage and the time. The annealing temperature of the nanotubes,TiO2 NTs, were varied to modify the surface morphology and were characterized by using X-raydiffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractionresults showed that the samples had uniform morphologies and good crystalline structures of theanatase phase at lower annealing temperatures and of the rutile phase at higher annealing temperatures. A secondary-ion mass-spectrometry analysis was used to investigate the surface atoms andto conduct a depth profile analysis of the TiO2 NTs. The efficiency of the photocatalytic activity ofthe TiO2 NT arrays in degrading methylene blue (MB) was investigated under UV-Vis light irradiation. The maximum photocatalytic activity was achieved for the samples with lower annealingtemperatures due to their being in the anatase phase and having a higher surface area and a smallercrystal size, which play important roles in the degradation of organic pollutants.

This study was conducted to estimate the contents of heavy metals including lead, cadmium,arsenic and total mercury in alcoholic beverages in Korea. Concentration of Hg was analyzed by gold amalgamation method, using mercury analyzer, while concentration of Pb, Cd and As was analyzed by ICP-MS. Concentration (μg/kg) of heavy metal in fermented liquors were ; for Pb 9.9 ± 8.4(0~38.0), Cd 5.8 ± 4.9(0~5.4), As 28.6 ± 19.4(1~96.4),Hg 0.7 ± 1.2(0~10.6). Concentration (μg/kg) of distilled liquors were : for Pb 4.4 ± 5.7(0~29.3), Cd 2.0 ± 2.5(0~10.3),As 12.0 ± 17.0(0~95.6), Hg 0.2 ± 0.3(0~2.3). Concentration(μg/kg) of other liquors were ; for Pb 7.5 ± 5.1(0~13.7),Cd 5.8 ± 3.9(0.6~11.2), As 25.2 ± 39.0(0.5~103.3), Hg 0.3 ± 0.1(0.1~0.5). The present study showed that difference of the amount of constituent in a same category of food are not affect to the content of heavy metals among them. The residual levels of takju, yakju, sake, beer, fruit wine, soju, whiskey, brandy, general distilled liquor, liquor, other liquors are within the maximum levels, prescribed by Korea food code. It is given that heavy metal exposure of Pb,Cd, As, Hg from consumption of alcoholic beverages (takju, yakju, sake, beer, fruit wine, soju, whiskey, brandy, general distilled liquor, liquor, other liquors) are less than 0.03%, 0.06%, 0.01%, 0.01% (mean) in provisional tolerable weekly intake (PTWI) respectively, indicated by FAO/WHO.

연구 계획: 증례보고. 목적: 경추 병변으로 잘못 진단된 고관절 질환 사례를 보고한다. 선행 연구문헌의 요약: 고관절 및 무릎 골관절염은 일반적으로 노인 환자에서 보행 장애를 초래한다. 일반적으로 진단은 쉽지만 증상이 모호하고 중복될수 있으므로 임상의는 감별 진단에서 척추 병변을 고려해야 한다. 보행 장애는 경추 척수병증의 주요 증상으로, 느리고 넓은 범위의 운동성 보행으로 나타난다. 대상 및 방법: 73세 남성이 보행 장애와 양측 허벅지 방사통으로 입원했다. 본원 내원 1년 전 다른 병원에서 경추 척수병증 진단을 받고 경추 유합술을 받았다. 그러나 불안정한 보행 패턴을 보였고, 허리에서 시작된 간헐적인 통증과 함께 양측 사타구니와 무릎으로 방사통을 경험했다. 초기 자기공명영상(MRI) 검사 결과 C4-5-6 레벨에서 추간판 탈출로 인한 협착증이 발견되었다. 1년 추적 MRI에서 C4-5-6 레벨에서 잘 감압되었다. 그 후 골반 일반 방사선 촬영과 고관절 MRI에서 심한 골관절염이 발견되어 양측 고관절 전치환술을 받았다. 결과: 고관절 수술 후 통증 및 보행 장애가 현저히 호전되는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 결론: 본 증례에서 보행 장애를 동반한 경추 척수병증의 증상은 상지 증상이 거의 없는 환자의 주요 증상이었으며, 임상의는 이 상태가 고관절 또는 무릎병리로 오진 될 수 있다는 사실을 염두에 두어야 한다. 약칭 제목: 경추 병변으로 오진단된 고관절 질환 Study design: Case report. Objectives: To report a case of hip disease that was misdiagnosed as a cervical spine lesion. Summary of Literature Review: Hip and/or knee osteoarthritis (OA) commonly results in gait impairment in elderly patients. Although the diagnosis is usually straightforward, clinicians should consider spinal lesions in the differential diagnosis because the symptoms may often be ambiguous and can overlap. Gait impairment is a primary symptom of cervical spondylotic myelopathy that manifests with a slow and wide-based ataxic gait. Materials and Methods: A 73-year-old man was admitted with gait disturbance and pain radiating to his bilateral thighs. He was diagnosed with cervical myelopathy and underwent cervical fusion surgery at another hospital 1 year prior to presentation. However, he showed an antalgic gait pattern and he experienced intermittent pain originating at the lower back with radiation into the bilateral groins and knees. Initial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed herniated intervertebral disc-induced stenosis at the C4-5-6 levels. One-year follow-up MRI revealed well-decompressed fusion at the C4-5-6 levels. Plain radiography of the pelvis and MRI of the hip joint revealed severe osteoarthritis, and he underwent bilateral total hip replacement arthroplasty. Results: The patient reported significant improvement in pain and gait impairment postoperatively. Conclusions: In the present case, the presentation of cervical spondylotic myelopathy accompanied by gait disturbance was the patient’s main symptom, together with few upper extremity symptoms. Clinicians should be mindful of the possibility that this condition may be misdiagnosed as hip or knee pathology.
