        The capacity of wireless communications has been considered to be restricted by their fundamental limits, which were first formulated by Shannon in 1948. These limits are for the communication environment that is composed of a transmitter and receiver pair. However, there are usually more than one simultaneously communicating pairs in the environment. In such cases, the capacity is not known. Moreover, performance requirements have been diversified with the development of technology. We believe that wireless communication technologies will eventually progress toward limitless connections. Various wireless transmission and access technologies are introduced in order to overcome their limitations.

        빅데이터를 통한 학습, GPU를 활용한 고속 컴퓨팅 및 다양한 알고리즘 개발과 더불어 기계학습은 다양한 분야에서 종래에 이루어내지 못한 뛰어난 성과를 달성하고 있다. 그동안 상용화된 통신 시스템에서 기계학습이 활성화되지 못했지만, 전례없는 다양한 서비스와 단말을 아우르는 5G 통신에서는 더욱 적극적으로 활용될 것으로 예상된다. 기계학습은 링크 적응 등 무선접속기술, 다양한 망이 혼재된 이종망 기술, 트래픽 분류 등을 위한 네트워크 기술, 침입 탐지를 위한 보안 기술 등 다양한 통신기술에서 연구됐다. 또한, 최근에는 유럽의 Public Private Partnership(5G PPP) 프로젝트를 비롯하여 다양한 그룹에서 활발히 연구되고 있으며, 컬컴/노키아/에릭슨 등 통신 관련 기업들도 적극적인 투자를 하고 있다. 본고에서는 기계학습 관련 통신기술, 연구그룹 및 기업 동향을 소개하고, 이를 통해 5G 통신 적용 가능성을 짚어본다.

        Estimation of Sodium Hydroxide Waste Origin-Destination Matrices for Preventing Hazardous Material Transportation Disasters

        Hazardous materials (HazMats) are substances that are flammable, explosive, toxic, or harmful, if released into the environment. Since the transportation of HazMats increases in many developed countries, it is very important to have accurate information of production, storage, shipment, usage, and waste disposal. HazMat transportation has the key function in the process of HazMat usage. The Korean Ministry of Environment (KMOE) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have developed many laws, regulations, and standards for hazardous materials. However, the Korean HazMat laws, regulations, and standards do not guarantee accurate information of HazMat origin-destination (O-D) shipments, though the HazMat O-D movement is the critical information in safety and security of HazMat transportation. The objectives of this research are: (1) to investigate emerging and recurrent issues in Korean HazMat transportation, and (2) to develop the estimation method of O-D matrices for hazardous materials under limited data sets. The sodium hydroxide waste shipment among forty candidate HazMats is selected as the sample research case. The growth-factor method is applied to estimate the 2005 O-D matrix of sodium-hydroxide waste shipment. The column-and-row factoring process is used to calibrate the estimated sodium-hydroxide O-D matrix. The result shows the applicability of the O-D estimation process for hazardous materials.         10년 단위의 진화를 거듭해오던 이동통신은 2020년경 5세대 통신이 상용화될 것으로 예상된다. 5G 통신은 4세대 이동통신에서 추구했던 서비스와 성능 목표를 넘어, 유무선의 장점을 수용하여 기존 서비스의 향상, 새로운 서비스 실현과 특수환경에서의 서비스 제공 등 사회 전반에 영향을 미칠 것이며, 5세대 통신으로 촉발된 사회 변화는 우리에게 위기이자 새로운 기회로 다가올 것이다. 세계는 5G 통신에 대한 비전, 요구사항 및 주요 요소 기술을 개발 중이다. 본고에서는 5세대 통신의 시장, 사용자, 트래픽 및 서비스 동향과 더불어 세계 각국 및 각 기관의 비전, 요구사항 및 기술동향을 소개한다. 현재 전 세계는 5세대 통신에 대한 다양한 의견을 제시하고 있으며, 협력과 경쟁이 심화되고 있다. 5G 기술 주도권 확보를 위해 세계 각국 및 각 기관의 동향 파악을 통한 대비가 필요하다.

        ■ Background Patients with posterior cerebral artery infarction could complain of visual field defects or prosopagnosia that does not recognize a person's face. However, there has been no standardized treatment for these symptoms. ■ Case report A 57-year-old male patient complained homonymous hemianopia and prosopagnosia after posterior cerebral artery infarction. After combined Korean medicine treatment for 49 days, subjective visual field was improved and the discomfort associated with visual field defect and the disability of recognizing people was decreased. Evaluations were took place by assessing visual field using Automated Perimetry and Confrontation visual field exam. Discomfort caused by visual field defects or prosopagnosia was evaluated by visual analog scale. The patient was treated with acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medications. ■ Conclusion The present case report suggests that combined Korean medicine treatment might be effective to resolution of homonymous hemianopia and prosopagnosia after stroke.

        Vflo<sup>TM</sup>를 이용한 홍수유출수문곡선의 반응해석

        본 논문에서는 보다 정확한 강우의 특성을 파악하기 위하여 레이더 강우를 적용하여 비선형성을 내포하는 강우-유출관계를 연구고찰하였다. 레이더 추정강우량과 지상의 관측강우량의 비율관계를 이용하여 레이더 추정강우를 보정하는 G/R기법을 적용하여 레이더 추정강우의 정확도를 향상시켰다. 레이더 추정강우로부터 분포형 강우 유출모델의 적용성을 검증하기 위하여 대표적인 분포형 강우-유출모델인 <TEX>$Vflo^{TM}$</TEX>분석체계를 구축하고 격자의 크기를 변화시켜가면서 유출양상을 분석하였다. 이 논문에서는 레이더 강우의 추정 및 보정과 분포형 강우-유출모델의 격자크기(Sell Size)를 제안하였다. This research examined a rainfall-runoff relationship containing linearity by applying radar rainfall to grasp more accurate properties of rainfall. In addition, this research improved accuracy of estimated radar rainfall by applying a G/R(Gauge to Radar) technique compensating estimated radar rainfall through using a ratio relationship between estimated radar rainfall and observed ground rainfall. In order to verify applicability of distributed rainfall-runoff model from radar estimated rainfall, this research constructs a <TEX>$Vflo^{TM}$</TEX> analysis system which is typical distributed rainfall-runoff model and analyzed a discharge aspect while changing the size of a lattice. This research proposed estimation and compensation of radar rainfall as well as the lattice size of distributed rainfall-runoff model.

        스펙트럼 영역 빛간섭단층촬영을 이용한 시신경유두 모양에 따른 시신경 유두주위위축 분석

        Purpose: To analyze the structural changes in the β-zone of peripapillary atrophy (PPA-β) using cross-sectional image of the optic disc head from spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) according to the optic disc shape. Methods: One hundred thirty-seven eyes in 137 patients with glaucoma having PPA-β and 31 normal eyes (control group) were evaluated retrospectively. Cross-sectional images of the optic disc were taken using the Cirrus HD-OCT. We classified optic disc patterns into normal, focal, myopic, generalized enlargement and senile sclerotic appearance types and analyzed the shape of Bruch’s membrane (BM), composition of retinal layer and retinal slope according to the optic disc shape. Results: Among the 137 eyes with glaucoma, 54 eyes were focal disc type, 34 eyes were myopic disc type, 28 eyes were generalized enlargement disc type and 21 eyes were senile sclerotic disc type. The myopic disc group showed a noticeable difference compared to the other groups in terms of a higher percentage of BM defect type, the lowest retinal slope (70.6 ± 12.0°) and the earlier termination of retinal layers. The generalized enlargement disc group showed the highest percentage of curved BM type. Retinal slope angle increased with age and decreased with axial length. Conclusions: In the β-zone of peripapillary atrophy, there were several differences in the shape of Bruch’s membrane, composition of retinal layers and the retinal slope according to the optic disc shape.
