The applications of robots are increasing progressively along with their capabilities. A driving unit is an essential element in any robot and the performance of the robot is directly related to its performance. This study aims to design a transmission that adopts multiple caterpillar and wheel driving arrangement with low contact pressure for versatile applications. The limitations of similar previous studies are highlighted and a practical model to address them is presented. FEM analysis and formulae are applied for system optimization. Driving and switching can be done using a pair of motors and actuators connected to the rear wheel. The wheel axis is mechanically connected to the motor and the tension is adjusted by pose change through the actuator of the outer pulley on the parallel axis. This helps to overcome the problem and allows continuous operation by eliminating the delay time when switching a driving pose. The stability of the system is verified through stress analysis of the deceleration system, where the largest torque is applied internally. Finally, the validity of the proposed design is proved through the fabrication of a mock-up model of actual size.

Real-time controllability has been a major challenge that should be addressed to ascertain the practical usage of the management systems. In this regards, for the first time, we proposed and implemented an IoT(Internet of Things)-based water tank system to improve convenience and efficiency. The reservoir can be effectively controlled by notifying the user if the condition of the reservoir is unstable. The proposed system consists of embedded H/W unit for sensor data measuring and controling, application S/W for deployment of management server via web and mobile app, and efficient database structure for managing and monitoring statistics. And machine learning algorithms can be applied for further improvements of efficiency in practice. 실시간 제어는 관리 시스템의 실질적인 사용을 확인하기 위해 해결해야 하는 주요 과제였다. 이와 관련하여 편의성과 효율성을 높이기 위해 처음으로 사물인터넷(IoT) 기반 저수조 시스템을 제안 및 개발하였다. 저수조의 상태가 불안정할 경우 사용자에게 알려 저수조를 효과적으로 제어할 수 있다. 제안된 시스템은 센서 데이터 측정 및 제어를 위한 내장형 H/W 장치, 웹 및 모바일 앱을 통한 관리 서버 구축을 위한 애플리케이션 S/W, 통계 관리 및 모니터링을 위한 효율적인 데이터베이스 구조로 구성되어 있다. 또한 기계 학습 알고리즘을 적용하여 실제 효율성을 더욱 향상시킬 수 있다.
Korean Preschoolers' Use of Literate Language Features in Spoken Narratives

This study was carried out to examine Korean preschoolers' use of literate language usage in oral narratives of a wordless picture book. 315 preschoolers aged from 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds' narratives were coded for literate language features, which were elaborated noun phrases, adverbs, conjunctions, mental verbs and linguistic verbs. The results of this study showed that literate language features were present in preschool children's narratives, and that the usage rate for the most of features varied significantly across the preschool age group. The oral narratives of 3-year-old children contained fewer adverbial phrases and conjunctions than the oral narratives of 4- or 5-year old children. Additionally, the narratives of 3-or 4-year old children contained fewer simple and complex noun phrases, adverbs and linguistic verbs than the narratives of 5-year-old children. It seems that most of the literate language features in Korean preschoolers develop distinctively at age 5. The results of the gender difference investigation showed no difference for literate language features. Korean preschoolers' use of literate language in spoken narratives not only converge on the previous results from American young children, but also show unique literate language use.
A Study of Children's Meaning Making of Literary Elements: Focusing on Plot, Theme, and Characters

This study was designed to describe how preschool and kindergarten children made sense of a story by analyzing their responses to plot, theme and characters. This study proposes that childrens character understanding is closely related to their understanding of plot and theme. Ninety four preschool and kindergarten children and sixty four college sophomores participated in reading aloud and responding to activities from the book, The Tunnel by A. Browne (1989). The participants were individually interviewed about how they understood the literary elements. The interview questions were developed with reference to Lehr (1991), Roser, Martinez, Fuhbrken & McDonnold (2007), and Sloan (2003) in order to understand childrens understanding of plot, theme and character. Transcribed responses were coded in traits related to plot, theme and character. The responses of the college students were used to understand the adult point of view on literary meaning making. From the present study, it is evident that young childrens meaning making of literary elements is different from adults. Further, it is different even among young age groups. When a childs age gets to 5, his/her understanding of character becomes more merged with events and plots, which are similar to that of an adult. However young childrens understanding of psychological or internal aspects of character, of which understanding guarantees sense of theme and plot remains to be developed later. From this study, it seems reasonable to suggest that plot and theme becomes comprehensible through deeper understanding of characters.

Environmental issues such as global warming due to fossil fuel use are now major worldwide concerns, and interest in renewable and clean energy is growing. Of the various types of renewable energy, green hydrogen energy has recently attracted attention because of its eco-friendly and high-energy density. Electrochemical water splitting is considered a pollution-free means of producing clean hydrogen and oxygen and in large quantities. The development of non-noble electrocatalysts with low cost and high performance in water splitting has also attracted considerable attention. In this study, we successfully synthesized a NiCo<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub>/NF electrode for an oxygen evolution reaction in alkaline water splitting using a hydrothermal method, which was followed by post-heat treatment. The effects of heat treatment on the electrochemical performance of the electrodes were evaluated under different heat-treatment conditions. The optimized NCO/NF-300 electrode showed an overpotential of 416 mV at a high current density of 50 mA/cm<sup>2</sup> and a low Tafel slope (49.06 mV dec<sup>-1</sup>). It also showed excellent stability (due to the large surface area) and the lowest charge transfer resistance (12.59 Ω). The results suggested that our noble-metal free electrodes have great potential for use in developing alkaline electrolysis systems.
