Motor neurons derived from ALS-related mouse iPS cells recapitulate pathological features of ALS

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a late-onset progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the loss of motor neurons in the spinal cord and brain. Mutations in Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) are known to induce ALS. Although many research models have been developed, the exact pathological mechanism of ALS remains unknown. The recently developed induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell technology is expected to illuminate the pathological mechanisms and new means of treatment for neurodegenerative diseases. To determine the pathological mechanism of ALS, we generated mouse iPS (miPS) cells from experimental ALS transgenic mice and control mice and characterized the cells using molecular biological methods. The generated miPS cells expressed many pluripotent genes and differentiated into three germ layers in vitro and in vivo. Motor neurons derived from ALS-related miPS cells recapitulated the pathological features of ALS. The ALS-model motor neurons showed SOD1 aggregates, as well as decreased cell survival rate and neurite length compared with wild-type motor neurons. Our study will be helpful in revealing the mechanism of motor neuronal cell death in ALS.
Gas-Liquid Chromatography를 이용한 사과 및 배 중의 농약 다성분 잔류분석법

사과 및 배 시료에서 농약 다성분의 gas chromatography를 이용한 잔류분석법 확립을 위하여 199가지의 농약를 선정 하여 retention time 및 검출기에 따라 ECD 5 그룹 및 NPD 5 그룹의 10개 그룹으로 분류하였다. 시료의 종류에 따른 분석조건을 확립하기 위한 회수율 시험은 농약들의 log P_(ow) 값과 화학적 분류에 따라 총 18개 (ECD 11개, NPD 7개)의 농약을 선정하였다. 예비실험 후 확립된 분석방법에 따라 10개 그룹의 혼합 표준용액으로 사과 및 배에 대한 회수율시험을 행하였다. 그 결과, 총 196가지의 농약의 70%에 해당하는 사과에서 136개, 배에서 133개의 농약들에서 회수율 70에서 120%의 양호한 결과를 나타내었다. 그러나 사과에서 43개, 배에서 45개의 농약들이 70% 미만의 회수율을 보였고, fenvalerate는 120% 이상의 회수율을 나타내었으며, 사과에서 17개 및 배에서 18개의 농약들은 검출이 되지 않았다. 그러나 확립된 분석법은 SOP에 의한 신속하고 수월한 수행으로 농산물 중의 잔류농약을 검출 및 모니터링하는 목적에 적합하다고 사료된다. A rapid analytical method was developed to determine multiple pesticide residues in apples and pears using gas-liquid chromatography (GLC). The samples were extracted with water-miscible solvents and purified by cleanup procedures serially comprising liquid-liquid partition and solid-phase extraction (SPE). Each analyte was separated and determined by a high-resolution GLC equipped with electron-capture detector (ECD) and nitrogen-phosphorous detector (NPD). A total of 196 pesticides, which were previously classified into 5 groups each for ECD and NPD based on their retention behaviors on the capillary column and responses to the detector, were subjected to the recovery experiment. In compliance with the analytical criteria, 70 to 120% of recovery and less than 20% relative standard deviation, the proposed method could be successfully applied to analyze 136 and 133 pesticide residues in apples and pears, respectively, which enabled not only rapid screening but quantitation of the residues. Even though less reliability was resulted from unacceptable recovery range, rest of pesticides including 43 and 45 analytes in apples and pears, could be also detected for their identity. The proposed method, failed to cover 17 and 18 pesticides for apples and pears, which mostly showed high polarity or heat-lability but, could be suitable for fast surveilance or monitoring of fruit harvests.

In the case of system like MES, various sensors collect the data in real time and save it as a bigdata to monitor the process. However, if there is big data mining in distributed computing system, wholeprocessing process can be improved. In this paper, system to analyze the cause of operation deviationwas built using the big data which has been collected from deasphalting process at the two differentplants. By applying multivariate statistical analysis to the big data which has been collected throughMES(Manufacturing Execution System), main cause of operation deviation was analyzed. We presentthe example of analyzing the operation deviation of deasphalting process using the big data which collectedfrom MES by using multivariate statistics analysis method. As a result of regression analysis of theforward stepwise method, regression equation has been found which can explain 52% increase ofperformance compare to existing model. Through this suggested method, the existing petrochemicalprocess can be replaced which is manual analysis method and has the risk of being subjective accordingto the tester. The new method can provide the objective analysis method based on numbers and statistic.

한국전쟁에 있어서의 소련정책으로부터 배울 한가지 교훈이 있었다. 공산주의진영에 인접한 지역을 자유진영이 방위할 책임이 없다는 내용의 자유진영정책의 발표를 모스크바에서는 문자 그대로 받아들여 팽창정책을 추구하되 국지전쟁의 방법을 써서 하도록 전략적 결정을 내리는데 영햐을 미쳤다는 것이다. 또하난의 다른 교훈은 전선에서 초반전에 패북을 당했을 때 소련정부는 그 손실을 축소하려 하지않고 오히려 공산주의자들이 북한의 영토를 군사적으로나 정치적으로 재차 원상대로 확고히 지배할 수 있기까지 전쟁을 강화해 나갔다는 것이다. 그런 후에야 비로소 공산주의측은 전투중지에 동의했고 다른 수법으로 투쟁을 계속해 나가려고 휴전회담을 수락했던 것이다.

In this thesis, the comparative study on the political development of the philippines, malay and korea, centering on the problems of nation building and the national identity, is examined from various angles. When we study on the political development of korea historically, we can find out the national consciousness that has been flowing in the stream of Korean history continuously. The march l independence movement in 1919 was a fruit of sovereignty consciousness that had been growing on the basis of the national consciousness historically, That was the moment when Korea had a feeeling of national identity and national integration. That implied the national consciousness that had been growing over the long national history. After the liberation from Japan, Korea started the nation building and state building and gradually set up the modern state. The national integration and the participation consciousness had the long traditional basis in the stream of the single national consciousness on the background of the Korean political culture. That is the reason why korea has achieved the high degree of political development fantastically as nowadays. We can not find out the very specific factor, that can be seen in the Korean development, in the philippine political culture, which is highly individualistic, personal, private oriented, fatalistic with family ties, kinship ties and regionalistic feeling, nor in the malay political culture, which is based on the plural ethnic society.
