The purpose of this study was to analyse coping and family stress in families with a handicapped child. By birth of a handicapped child, the family will face a high level stress situation. The stressor event is unanticipated situational family experience that place the family in a state instability and call for some creative effort to cope with the situation. Functional coping is clear identification and acceptance of the stressor and recognition of accumulating stressor. Viewing the situation as a family problem that everyone must adjust to-as a family centered problem-contributes to functional coping of family stress. Family resorces, such as open communication and family cohesion is useful in coping with family stress. Social support provides information for family problem solving and social contacts for assistance on an interpersonal levl. They serve as a protector against the effects of stressors and promote recovery from family stress.

The concentrations of the immunological substances in breast milk and nutritional status were studied in healthy Korean women of middle socioeconomic class. The subjects were recruited at random from obstetric clinics in Seoul. The nutrients intake, prepregnancy BMI, maternal weight gain during pregnancy were studied. The concentrations of lactoferrin(LF), lysozyme(LZ), sIgA, IgG and C_3 in colostrum, in transitional milk, and in mature milk, were measured. To elucidate the effect of nutritional status on immunological substances, each component was compared on the basis of either BMI, weight gain, or protein intake. The highest concentrations of the substances were found in colostum and decreased as lactation progressed. The decline was more prominent in IgG, C_3, and sIgA, and less significant in LZ and LF. The colostrum of standard weight gain group showed higher concentrations compared to lower weight gain group. This difference became smaller as the lactation progresses. BMI and nutrient intake status had less significant effect. Lower sIgA was found in lower BMI, in lower weight gain, and lower protein intake groups compared to standard groups, which indicates sIgA is the most affected substance among the measured by nutritional status.

It is assumed that comprehending and remembering a story depeends not only on what the children hear or read, but also on their general knowledge. Some factors for children's story comprehension were considered under the following eading: 1) Mechanisms of understanding contained in story-comprehension, 2) The development of interesting of children for picture-books, 3) The role of repeating structure on the formation of "story schema", 4) The relation between levels of story-understanding and those of story-schema. From these consideration, the following suggestions were derived: 1) A large number of stories for children have some kind of repeating structure and children enjoy them very much, 2) Repeating structure play an important role on the formation of "story schema", 3) "story schema" is constructed in children's mind by their experience mainly about listening the story telling, 4) The developmental features of understanding depends upon the levels of children's schema or the degree of awareness for the goal or structure of task.

The study was carried out to investigate the dietary attitude and hematological status of the middle school football players in Busan. The survey was conducted from September 15 to October 15, 2006 by questionnaires and data analyzed by the SPSS program. The results are summarized as follows: The weights and body mass indices of the football players were significantly lower than those of the control. Dietary attitude scores showed no significant differences between the groups. Nutrition knowledge scores of the football players were lower than those of the control. Both football players and the control preferred the sweet taste rather than others. The football players preferred the hot taste, meats, and fish rather than the control did. Serum triglyceride level of the football players was significantly lower than that of the control. Blood iron level was significantly lower in the football players than in the control. Blood urea nitrogen concentration was higher in the football players than in the control. Therefore proper nutritional education programs are required for middle school football players to improve their nutritional status and physical strength.

<P>Annexin II (Annexin A2, ANXA2) is a 36 kDa calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein that is located on the surface of most eukaryotic cells. ANXA2 is involved in several biological processes, including anti-inflammatory effects, Ca27+-dependent exocytosis, immune responses, Ca2+ transport and phospholipase A2 regulation. In our previous study, ANXA2 was identified as an up-regulated gene in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissue by cDNA microarray. In the present study, we have evaluated ANXA2 as a tumor-associated marker of HCC. We determined the ANXA2 levels in human liver tissues with HCC using real-time RT-PCR and Western blot analysis. For quantitative analysis of the ANXA2 protein in body fluids, we developed a sandwich ELISA system in which a polyclonal antibody and a monoclonal antibody specific to ANXA2 were employed as a capture antibody and a probe antibody, respectively. We detected the ANXA2 concentration in human serum using our newly developed system and evaluated its usefulness as a tumor marker. Overexpression of ANXA2 in human liver tissue was confirmed by real-time RT-PCR and Western blot analysis. The sandwich ELISA system for ANXA2 was developed for the detection of ANXA2 in human samples. The dose-response relationship between ANXA2 and optical density was linear in the range of 0-10 microg/ml and the sensitivity was 0.02 microg/ml. We determined the ANXA2 concentration in serum specimens using the newly developed sandwich ELISA. The serum ANXA2 concentrations of the patients with HCC (53.38+/-36.23 microg/ml) were significantly elevated when compared with those of normal individuals (28.81+/-24.94 microg/ml). These results suggest that expression of ANXA2 may be increased in HCC patients and may play an important role in liver cancer progression. This new ELISA method can be used as a tool for the detection of ANXA2 in human serum, particularly for cancer diagnostics.</P>
