        Carbonized rice hull, perlite, and vermiculite were mixed and investigated for the probability of tobacco transplant production by means of plug and transfer float system. These seedling bed materials in condition of float system have gaseous phase ranged from 6% to 13% showing a proper growth of tobacco seedling. However compost media mixed with soil, sand, and compost in condition of float system led to the shortage of respiration in root system by very low proportion of gaseous phase skewing a wicked growth of seedling. Absorption of heat by floating water for the daytime increased rhizosphere temperature in condition of float system during the night and low temperature season resulting in better growth of tobacco seedling. Consequently transplant production of tobacco seedling by float system with mixed materials of carbonized rice hull, perlite, and vermiculite was thought to be desirable method for manufacturing production system of transplant considering the effective management of water, nutrients, and temperature of seedling bed materials.

        GC/NPD를 이용한 다성분 잔류농약의 동시분석

        Pesticides were extracted from samples with 70% acetone and methylene chloride in order, and then cleaned up via open-column chromatography apparatus packed with fiorisil, and finally analyzed simultaneously the organophosphorus pesticides using GC/NPD, Ultra-2 and Ultra-1 fused silica capillary columns were used to separate and identify the products. Recovery of most analytes from soybean sample, taken from pesticide residues well, was greater than(80%) for all except(6) analytes. This method can simultaneously determine multiple pesticides with a high degree of accuracy and precision.

      • Current Status on the Duration of Antibiotics in Community Acquired Pneumonia from Hospitalization to Discharge in Korea

        Introduction Community-acquired pneumonia(CAP) is a leading cause of hospitalization. In 2017, Guidelines for the antibiotic use in adults with CAP in Korea suggested optimal antibiotic duration for 7 to10 days. During recent study, shorter duration of antibiotics have been evaluated. However, the duration of antimicrobial therapy in real clinic is not well established in Korea. Method Duration of antimicrobial treatment from hospital to discharge was retrospectively analyzed in tertiary university hospitals with 800 beds in the period between January 1, 2019 and May 5, 2020. We conducted medical chart review and analyzed data of antibiotic choice and duration in patients with CAP during hospitalization and at discharge. Result During the study period, total 370 patients were hospitalized with CAP. The mean(SD) total duration of antimicrobial treatment was 18.1(11.1) days. The mean(±SD) duration of total treatment was shorter in the patients without complication such as parapneumonic effusion and abscess(16.9±10.8 vs 21.1 ± 11.4; p-value 0.017). Among 271 patients in pneumonia without complication, mean(±SD) duration of total antibiotics was shorter in patients who were not treated with antipseudomal antibiotics(13.9 ±7.2 vs 19.5±12.4; p-value 0.011). Antibiotic use for optimal duration was depended on less antibiotic escalation, no use of anti-pseudomonal antibiotics and no antibiotic prescription at discharge. On hospital discharge, 81.5% of patients were prescribed antibiotics. Most commonly prescribed antibiotics at discharge was quinolone(215 of 221 prescriptions). According to the prescriptions of antibiotics at discharge, 95.4% of patients were treated for exceeding the recommended period. Conclusion Duration of antibiotic treatment in patients with CAP was excess in Korea. Optimal duration of antibiotics was depended on escalation of initial antibiotics, use of anti-pseudomonal antibiotics and prescription at discharge. In particular, most of antibiotics at discharge were overused. Thus, physicians should consider the appropriate length of antibiotic treatment at discharge.

        RAW 264.7 대식세포에서 lipopolysaccharide 자극에 의한 염증성 및 산화적 스트레스에 미치는 5-aminolevulinic acid phosphate의 영향

        5-ALA-p는 천연 아미노산인 5-ALA를 암모니아수로 용출하고 인산과 아세톤을 첨가하여 광역학 요법에 적합한 특성을 갖도록 개발된 물질이다. 그러나 항산화 및 항염증에 대한 잠재적인 기전을 포함한 약리학적 효능은 아직 명확하지 않다. 본 연구에서는 LPS로 자극된 RAW 264.7 세포에서 산화적 및 염증성 반응에 대한 5-ALA-p의 효과를 평가하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 의하면, 5-ALA-p는 LPS에 의한 RAW 264.7 세포의 과도한 식균 활성을 유의하게 억제하였고 산화적 스트레스를 약화시켰다. 5-ALA-p는 또한 LPS에 의해 감소된 미토콘드리아 생물 발생을 개선하였으며, 이는 5-ALA-p가 LPS로 인한 미토콘드리아 손상을 복원시켰음을 시사한다. 아울러 5-ALA-p는 NO와 TNF-α, IL-1β 및 IL-6과 같은 염증성 사이토카인의 생성을 현저히 억제하였으며, 이는 iNOS 및 각 사이토카인의 발현 감소와 연관성이 있었다. 나아가 5-ALA-p는 NF-κB의 핵 전이를 감소시키고 MAPKs의 인산화를 억제하여 5-ALA-p의 항염증 효과가 이들 신호전달 경로의 활성 억제와 매개되었음을 보여주었다. 이러한 결과들은 5-ALA-p가 산화적 및 염증성 스트레스를 줄이는 잠재적인 후보 약물로 적용될 수 있음을 의미한다. 5-Aminolevulinic acid phosphate (5-ALA-p) is a substance obtained by eluting 5-ALA (a natural delta amino acid) with aqueous ammonia, adding phosphoric acid to the eluate, and then adding acetone to confer properties suitable for use in photodynamic therapy applications. However, its pharmacological efficacy, including potential mechanisms of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory reactions, remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the effects of 5-ALA-p on oxidative and inflammatory stresses in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Our data showed that 5-ALA-p significantly inhibited excessive phagocytic activity via LPS and attenuated oxidative stress in LPS-treated RAW 264.7 cells. Furthermore, 5-ALA-p improved mitochondrial biogenesis reduced by LPS, suggesting that 5-ALA-p restores mitochondrial damage caused by LPS. Additionally, 5-ALA-p significantly suppressed the release of nitric oxide (NO) and pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-6, which are associated with the inhibition of inducible NO synthase and respective cytokine expression. Furthermore, 5-ALA-p reduced the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) and inhibited phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), indicating that the anti-inflammatory effect of 5-ALA-p is mediated through the suppression of NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways. Based on these results, 5-ALA-p may serve as a potential candidate to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.

        폐경기 여성의 정신건강을 위한 문학을 활용한 합리정서행동치료(REBT) 프로그램의 효과

        본 연구는 폐경기 여성들의 정신건강을 위해 문학을 활용한 REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) 프로그램을 구성하여 자아존중감, 자아탄력성, 지각된 스트레스, 신체상, 우울, 상태분노, 분노표현, 및 노화불안에 미치는 효과를 규명하기 위하여 비동등성 대조군 사전사후 시차 설계로 수행되었다. 예비조사는 폐경기 여성 4명을 대상으로 4회기의 예비프로그램이 적용되었으며, 본조사는 이를 바탕으로 수행되었다. 실험군 24명, 대조군 24명을 대상으로 문학을 활용한 REBT 프로그램을 적용하여 효과를 검증한 결과, 자아존중감, 자아탄력성, 지각된 스트레스, 신체상, 우울, 상태분노, 분노표현, 및 노화불안 점수에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 따라서 문학을 활용한 REBT 프로그램은 폐경기 여성의 정신건강에 효과적임이 확인되었다. Background: This study aims to investigate the effects of the REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) program using literatures on the self-esteem, ego-resilience, perceived stress, body image, depression, state anger, anger expression, and aging anxiety on the mental health of menopausal women. Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study of non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Prior to the study, four menopausal women were selected for a pilot study, and the four-session program was practiced. Based on the results, the REBT program utilizing literature for the mental health of menopausal women was conducted in the public cultural center in C city, Chungnam, semiweekly, during 90∼120 minutes per session, over 10 sessions for five weeks, from February to April 2018. The subjects were 48 menopausal women aged 45∼60 years. Of these, 24 subjects in the experimental group, and 24 subjects in the control group were intentionally sampled. The collected data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, χ²-test, independent t-test, and paired t-test using SPSS 21.0. Results: There were statistically significant differences in self-esteem, ego-resilience, body image, depression, state anger, anger expression, and aging anxiety between the two groups. Conclusions: The results confirmed that the REBT program utilizing literature for mental health of menopausal women improved the self-esteem and ego-resilience of women and was effective in reducing perceived stress, negative body image, depression, state anger, anger expression, and aging anxiety.

        섭식 지도에 관한 부모교육이 뇌성마비 아동에게 미치는 효과

        배경 및 목적: 본 연구는 섭식에 어려움이 있는 2-3세 뇌성마비 아동의 주 양육자 7쌍을 대상으로 섭식에 영향을 줄 수 있는 섭식 환경, 구강 민감도, 구강기능운동성, 섭식 기능과 관련된 내용을 교육한 뒤 주 양육자가 뇌성마비 아동에게 직접 중재하였을 때 나타나는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 부모교육 시작 전 사전검사를 1회 실시하고 5회기의 부모교육을 실시하였다. 부모교육이 끝나고 2주 뒤에 사후평가 1회를 실시하였다. 섭식 환경, 구강 민감도 및 섭식 기능은 5점 척도로 평가하고 구강기능운동성은 6점 척도로 평가한 뒤 교육 전과 교육 후의 점수 차이를 살펴보았다. 결과: 섭식 지도에 관한 부모교육 이후 주 양육자가 뇌성마비 아동에게 직접 중재를 실시한 결과, 뇌성마비 아동의 네 가지 변인 점수가 모두 높아졌다. 연구에 참여한 뇌성마비 아동들의 섭식 환경은 개선되었고, 구강 민감도는 낮아졌으며, 구강기능운동성과 섭식 기능이 향상되면서 섭식에 도움이 되었다. 논의 및 결론: 임상에서 중증뇌성마비 아동의 섭식 중재 시 이를 적용한다면 구강기능운동성과 섭식 기능 향상에 도움을 줄 수 있고 치료실뿐 아니라 가정에서도 섭식 치료가 연계되어 치료의 효과를 더 높일 수 있을 것이다. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a feeding guide educa-tion program for parents of children with cerebral palsy. Methods: Seven pairs of parents and primary caregivers, with 2- to 3-year-old children with cerebral palsy who had difficul-ties in feeding, were provided with five sessions of feeding guide education. A comparative analysis was made before the education sessions began and 2 weeks after their comple-tion. Feeding assessments were made in the following categories: feeding environment, oral sensitivity, oral function, mobility, and feeding function. Results: After the parental ed-ucation the feeding environment improved but oral sensitivity oral sensitivity decreased. Oral function and mobility and the feeding functions of the children improved. Conclusion: The parental education used in this clinical practice is expected to help improve feeding functions of children with cerebral palsy through the incorporation of feeding treatment at home.

        Reactive oxygen species-dependent apoptosis induction by water extract of Citrus unshiu peel in MDA-MB-231 human breast carcinoma cells

        BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Although several recent studies have reported the anti-cancer effects of extracts or components of Citrus unshiu peel, which has been used for various purposes in traditional medicine, the molecular mechanisms for their effects remain unclear. In the present study, the anti-cancer activity of a water-soluble extract of C. unshiu peel (WECU) in MDA-MB-231 human breast carcinoma cells at the level of apoptosis induction was investigated. MATERIALS/METHODS: Cytotoxicity was evaluated using the MTT assay. Apoptosis was detected using DAPI staining and flow cytometry analyses. Mitochondrial membrane potential, reactive oxygen species (ROS) assay, caspase activity and Western blotting were used to confirm the basis of apoptosis. RESULTS: The results indicated that WECU-induced apoptosis was related to the activation of caspase-8, and -9, representative initiator caspases of extrinsic and intrinsic apoptosis pathways, respectively, and caspase-3 accompanied by proteolytic degradation of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase and down-regulation of the inhibitors of apoptosis protein family members. WECU also increased the pro-apoptotic BAX to anti-apoptotic BCL-2 ratio, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and cytochrome c release from mitochondria to cytoplasm. Furthermore, WECU provoked the generation of ROS, but the reduction of cell viability and induction of apoptosis by WECU were prevented when ROS production was blocked by antioxidant N-acetyl cysteine. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that WECU suppressed proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells by activating extrinsic and intrinsic apoptosis pathways in a ROS-dependent manner.

        기술수명주기에 따른 기술혁신성과 분석: 태양광산업 초기 및 후기 진입국을 중심으로

        신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19)의 출현과 기후변화로 인한 극심한 재난과 재앙을 방지하고자 탄소중립으로의 패러다임 전환이 화두가 되고 있다. 이에 세계적으로 신재생에너지로의 전환이 활발하며, 다양한 신재생에너지원 중에서도 태양광산업의 폭발적인 성장세가 예측되고 있다. 태양광산업은 세계적 추세 및 유망성에 힘입어 호황을 맞이하고 있으나, 전체 태양광산업을 조망하고 분석하는 연구는 매우 부족한 실정이다. 기존 태양광산업에 대한 연구는 범위와 관점에 있어 제한적이었으며, 주로 정책의 파급효과와 산업의 비즈니스 모델을 파악하기 위한 연구를 중심으로 수행되어 왔다. 본 연구는 기술혁신의 대표적인 이론인 기술수명주기(Technology Life Cycle) 관점에서 특허 데이터를 활용하여 태양광산업의 초기 진입국 및 후기 진입국의 기술혁신성과를 비교분석함으로써 기술혁신의 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 상세하고 구체적인 기술의 정보를 포함한 특허 초록(Abstract)을 분석하는데 적절한 텍스트마이닝(Text Mining) 기법을 활용하여 키워드 네트워크 분석(Keyword Network Analysis)를 실시하였다. 분석을 통해 중심성(Centrality) 수치와 클러스터(Cluster)를 도출하였으며, 산업의 보편성과 특수성에 입각한 태양광산업 기술혁신의 방향성과 시사점을 제시하였다. With the emergence of the novel coronavirus infection disease (COVID-19), a paradigm shift to carbon neutrality is becoming a hot topic to prevent extreme disasters and disasters caused by climate change. To this end, the conversion to new and renewable energy is active worldwide, and the solar industry is expected to grow explosively among various renewable energy sources. The solar industry is booming thanks to global trends and prospects, but research on viewing and analyzing the entire solar industry is very scarce. Existing research on the solar industry has been limited in scope and perspective, mainly focusing on research to understand the ripple effect of policies and the business model of the industry. This study attempted to present implications for technological innovation by comparing and analyzing the technological innovation performance of early and late entrants of the solar industry using patent data from the perspective of Technology Life Cycle, a major theory of technological innovation research. Keyword Network Analysis was conducted using a text mining technique suitable for analyzing patent abstract containing specific and abundant technical information. Centrality figures and clusters were derived through analysis, and the direction and implications of solar industry technological innovation based on the universality and specificity of the industry were presented.
