Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a 67-year-old male patient with Herpes zoster(caseⅠ) and a 38-year-old female patient with Herpes zoster(caseⅡ), whose symptoms were relieved after Korean medicine treatment alone. Methods : Both patients took Yeonryeonggobondan and Pyungwee-san daily. Everytime they came to the hospital, they received acupuncture treatment, Hwidam's Su-Gi therapy and External Gigong Therapy. Acupuncture was applied by gall bladder seunggyeok(膽勝格, GB-), spleen jeonggyeok(脾正格, SP+), large intestine seunggyeok(大腸勝格, LI-) of Saam's Acupuncture Method. Hwidam's Su-Gi therapy was applied on neck. External Gigong Therapy was applied on skin lesion area. the patients' symptoms were evaluated with photographs and VAS. Results : The results were as follows: 1. In the case of a 67-year-old male patient, it took 14 days to recover the skin lesions and to reduce the pain after treatment started. And he visited 13 times during that period. 2. In the case of a 38-year-old female patient, it took 23 days to recover the skin lesions to reduce and the pain after treatment started. And she visited 10 times during that period. 3. Intensive treatment early in treating herpes zoster helped to shorten the treatment period. 4. Taking Yeonryeonggobondan and Pyungwee-san and receiving acupuncture treatment(SP+) can help to improve immunity and recover skin lesions in herpes zoster diagnosed with spleen deficiency with dampness encumbrance(脾虛濕困) and blood stasis due to qi stagnation(氣滯血瘀). 5. The combination of acupuncture treatment(GB-) and External Gigong Therapy was effective in controlling pain. 6. External Gigong Therapy is considered to be effective for the recovery of the skin as well as the pain of the herpes zoster. Conclusions : Korean medicine treatment alone has a great effect on the above two patients with herpes zoster. I hope the active research about Korean medicine treatment will be done not only for herpes zoster but also for various intractable pain diseases.
Prediction of Moisture Content of Grafted Cucumber Seedlings using Hyperspectral Image

This study was conducted to predict the moisture content of grafted cucumber seedlings using hyperspectral imaging system. The grafted cucumber seedlings were healed under a mixed red and blue LED. The hyperspectral images were obtained using a hyperspectral camera at shortwave infrared (SWIR) ranges. These images taken every 24 hours during the healing period of 144 hours, were preprocessed with brightness correction, smoothing, normalization and first-order derivative. The moisture content of grafted seedlings was determined just after acquiring the hyperspectral image. To make a prediction model and identify significant wavelengths, some statistical analysis including stepwise multiple linear regression (SMLR), the principal component regression (PCR) and the partial least squares regression (PLSR) between moisture content and spectral reflectance were performed. The correlation coefficient between spectral reflectance and the moisture content of grafted cucumber seedlings were high negative at the wavelengths of 1,400-1,500nm, 1,800-1,950nm and over 2,100nm. Most of prediction models included wavelengths in the ranges of 1,370-1,450nm that was known as the water absorption bands. However, a first-order derivative PLSR model was greatly affected by the change of spectral reflectance between 1,666nm and 1,672nm. Determination coefficients of the model predicting moisture content for calibration and validation dataset were 0.77 and 0.74, respectively. And the standard errors for calibration and prediction dataset were 1.17% and 0.96%, respectively. This result indicated that hyperspectral images could be applied to predict the moisture content of grafted cucumber seedling.
Robust Zero Power Levitation Control of Quadruple Hybrid EMS System

This paper presents the improved zero power levitation control algorithm for a quadruple hybrid EMS (Electromagnetic Suspension) system. Quadruple hybrid EMS system is a united form of four hybrid EMS systems one on each corner coupled with a metal plate. Technical issue in controlling a quadruple hybrid EMS system is the permanent magnet’s equilibrium point deviation caused by design tolerance which eventually leads to a limited zero power levitation control that only satisfies the zero power levitation in one or two hybrid EMS system among the four hybrid EMS system. In order to satisfy a complete zero power levitation control of the quadruple hybrid EMS system, the proposed method presented in this paper adds a compensating algorithm which adjusts the gap reference of each individual axe. Later, this paper proves the stability and effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm via experiment and disturbance test.

Objective We determined the cytotoxic properties of cytochrome P450 4B1 (CYP4B1) activated 4-ipomeanol (4-ipo) and 2-aminoanthracene (2-AA) in rat glioma to verify the CYP4B1/4-ipo or 2-AA system for prodrug-activating gene therapy. Methods The cyp4B1 cDNA was cloned into pcDNA3.1/Hygro from rabbit lung total RNA (pcDNA-cyp4B1). Lentiviral vector encoding firefly luciferase (fLuc) was infected into C6 (rat glioma), and the fLuc-expressing cell was selected (C6-L). After transfection with pcDNAcyp4B1 vector into C6-L, the single clone expressing cyp4B1 gene was selected (C6-CL). Prodrug for various concentrations of 4-ipo or 2-AA was treated for 72 h and 96 h. The cell survival rate of C6-CL was determined using MTT assay and trypan-blue dye exclusion methods. Results By RT-PCR analysis, fLuc and CYP4B1 expression was detected in C6-CL, but not in C6. MTT assay and trypan-blue dye exclusion showed that $IC_{50}$ of C6-CL was 0.3 mM and <0.01 mM after 4-ipo or 2-AA treatment at 96 h or 72 h exposure, respectively. Cell survivals of C6-CL were more rapidly reduced after treatment with 4-ipo or 2-AA than those of C6-L cells. The cell survival rate with MTT and trypan-blue dye exclusion assay was well correlated with fLuc activity in C6-CL cells. Conclusion CYP4B1-based prodrug-activating gene therapy may have the potential to treat glioma and the cytotoxic effects of CYP4B1 enzyme activated 4-ipo or 2-AA in C6, and could be clearly determined by bioluminescent activity in C6-CL.
