GaN 에피층을 CCl2F2 와 Ar 가스를 사용한 RIE로 건식각 공정을 개발하여 청색발광용 DFB 레이저 다이오드의 회절격자를 제작하였다. 회절격자의 패턴은 레이저 홀로그래피와 최적조건의 식각 조건 하에서 제작되었다. 얇은 감광제만을 식각 마스크로 사용하면 플라즈마에 의한 마스크 침식에 의해 불규칙적이며 굴곡이 있는 회절격자가 형성되었다. 반면 SiO2/감광제 이중 마스크를 사용하면 마스크 침식 현상이 현저히 감소하여 매우 선명하며 주기적인 격자를 형성할 수 있었다. 제작된 회절격자는 주기 0.25 ㎛, 깊이 약 50nm 인 정현파 형태를 가지고 있었다. We investigated RIE etching parameters of GaN using CCl2F2 and Ar gases and fabricated DFB gratings for the GaN based blue laser diode. Grating patterns were defined by the laser holography followed by RIE etching. Using thin PR as an etch mask, the mask erosion was severe to render the etched pattern rough and aperiodic. However, when SiO2/PR double mask was employed, the mask erosion problem was greatly reduced and a sharp and periodic pattern was obtained. the fabricated grating had a sinusoidal shape with period of 0.25 ㎛ and depth of 50 nm.

The spatial distribution of the scattered X-ray exposure for mobile X-ray radiography is measured. The scattered X-ray exposures at the radius of 50 cm, 100 cm and 150 cm from the irradiation center are 880, 180 and 50 μ R, respectively. This scattered X-rays can be reduced to 60 % by inserting the portable shield made by 0.04 mm copper sheet sandwiched in two plywoods.

The purpose of this study was to design and develop a creeper for can-manufacturing that is simple for farmers to operate, light-weighted, endurable, mobile and not space-restricted. Specifically speaking, the most optimal conditions including the most appropriate number of blades and the most optimal power levels were experimentally investigated to design a portable creeper with a built-in compressor. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Circular grooves were cut on the cylinder axle itself to allow air pressure be carried to the blades, so that complicated links were removed easier and successive working was achieved. 2. The most appropriate number of blades for honeybee work was found to be 16 and circular blades were the most efficient. 3. The most appropriate power level for honeybee work was 700kg and the most appropriate out-length of the blades was found to be less than 2mm with scratches minimized.

We have explored the recent trends in STS education and developed the study model which can be applied to the earth science class in high school. We derived the conclusion that the STS is one of the desirable methodology in science education in general and earth science education in particular. The previous studies on STS have mostly concentrated on the background of the STS itself, instead of practicing STS. The teachers acknowledge the necessacity of the STS and recognize the followings as the prerequisite for the application of STS: development of study material, training of the teachers, restructuring the current curricumum and the adoption of STS in the entrance examination to college. The subjects requring the STS education are found to be environmental pollution, science for living, ethics of science, health and desease, information communication, destruction of ecosystem and shortage of natural resources. We have focussed on the training of the ability of scientifically solving the various problems arising from social life. The study model developed here can become a useful material for STS education in integrated science and earth science class.

BaFBr:Eu^(2+) phosphors were fabricated and trap parameters of thermoluminescence were determined by heating rate method. The glow curve of BaFBr:Eu^(2+) consists of three peaks when the heating rate is 4 ℃/s. The temperatures of peaks are 79 ℃, 175 ℃ and 292 ℃. To determine the trap parameters, the heating rate changed from 2 ℃/s to 10 ℃/s when we measured the glow curve. As a result of heating rate method, the activation energy are 0.98, 1.38 and 1.91 eV, the kinetic order are 1.20, 2.54 and 1.46, the frequency factor are 6.7×10¹³, 2.4×10^(15) and 7.9×10^(16) s^(-1), for each peaks.

Non-medical use of drugs to enhance performance at Olympic Games by athletes has been prohibited by the International Olympic Committee(IOC) since 1968 on medical and ethical grounds. IOC wants to protect athlete from harmful side effect of drugs due to misuse of it. It also, ethically, wants to have Games run on fair base, not fortified by performance enhancing drugs. The banned substance include stimulants, narcotic analgesics, anabolic, steroids, β-blockers and diuretics. In order to prevent the positive reaction in the doping test induced by herb medicine, this study was done on about Bojungchisheup-tang. The laboratory set up doping analyses methods to cover as many drugs as possible without sacrificing sensitivity and specificity within one procedure. Its screening method considered of four different procedures. The results were negative. According to the above results, Bojungchisheup-tang taken by athletes would show the negative reaction in the doping test. So its prescription for athletes can be given without worries of the doping test.

Atomism is physical and metaphysical doctrine that the world is made up of indivisible(a-tom) and imperceptible small material units. We review this doctrine and examine it physically in the light of quantum mechanics. From atomism, we elicit atomistical separability which says that properties of the whole system is determined by the properties of the parts. However, according to our argument, the atomistical separability cannot compatible with the formalism of quantum mechanics. In conclusion, atomism does not sustainable anymore, instead, holism of properties or things comes sound.
