      • Turning of Paradigm and Necessity of New Medical System in 21st Century

        Being the era of information, 21 st century has brought and will bring drastic changes in cultural and natural enviorment. And diseases of new kinds too have emerged, causing need for different therapeutic means. Until now, Western medical science was theolized by determinism, causal relation, mechanism, and reductionism. Therefore they can not explain a new view on the world, because there are a lot of changes in 21 st century. Consequently 21 st century , our way of thinking need the philosophical ideology of Oriental medical system of organic paradigm. Accordingly in 21 st century, there will necessarily appear new method to conceive these two opposite worlds. And also in medicine, it is predicted, new means of medical system fitting this will be possible. But these two worlds are not unifiable one but dialectic unity with both opposition and balance. In this point the writer calls the new synthesized medical system, made up of Oriental Medicine and Western Medicine, New Medical System, offers a steady stream of conctructive proposals for N.M.S.. 21세기는 정보화시대로 질병에 있어서 새로운 모습의 질환들이 나타나 치료방법에서도 많은 변화를 가져올 것이다. 따라서 의학에 있어서도 새로운 의학체계가 요구된다. 그동안 세계의학의 보편적 의학이론체계가 결정론적·인과론적·기계론적·환원론적체계 였다면 이들 이론으로 21세기 정보화 시대의 새로운 세계관을 설명할 수는 없을 것이다. 따라서 21세기에는 그 동안 간과되었던 확률적·유기체적·전일론적 동양적체계론이 요구된다. 그런데도 그동안 동양의 이 체계론은 이것이 한낱 철학적 범주를 벗어나지 못한 관념론이라 하여 경험의학으로 그 가치가 절하되었다. 그러나 최근 서양에서 새로운 과학이론이 나오면서 유기적 철학인 확률적·유기체적·전일론들이 과학적 방법으로 정량·정성화 될 수 있는 가능성을 보였다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 21세기의학체계론으로 동서두의학의 서로다른 이론체계가 만난 새로운 의학체계가 필요하다보고 이를‘신의학체계론’이라 명명하면서 이에 대한 새로운 가능성을 진단하였으며,또한 이의 실현을 위하여 한국 의학계(한의학·서의학)의 의식전환·교육개선·학문적 연구방향등을 구체적으로 제시하였고,아울러 현 정부의 의료정책에 대한 개선점을 지적하였다.

      • 十二經脈의 經脈名에 관한 考察

        In the present study, we aimed. to consider the name of twelve main Meridian in order to understand the concept of the Meridian system and to applicate acupuncture theory in the clinical field properly and fundamentally. We referred to several literatures on the matter and we found out that the name of present twelve Meridian was not settled until the period of Yellow Emperor's Classic. In the time of Yellow Emperor's Classic, the two theory of Internal Organ and Meridian system were combined and added new theory of 'WoonGi'. The general rule of combination is that the component of name of Meridian consist of 'Hand' or 'Foot', 'three Eum and Yang' and internal organ. The internal organ coupled with the root ki or middle ki of 'three Eum and Yang' and the 'Hand' or 'Foot' depend on the location of internal organ that belongs to meridian. The name of Twelve Meridian is a kind of system formed to analyze the two concepts organically and dynamically. One is material internal organ and the other is immaterial meridian system.

      • 解語丸이 培養脊髓運動神經細胞의 LDH활성에 미치는 影響

        In other to elucidate the neuroprotective effects of Haeahwan on oxidant-induced neurotoxicity in cultured rat spinal motor neurons, the colorimetric assay such as MTT, NR, LDH, Lipid peroxidation was also carried out after cultured spinal motor neurons from neonatal rat were treated with the medium containing various concentrations of Methylmercuric chloride(MMC) for 8 hours. In addition, the protective effect of Haeahwan water extract extracts on the neurotoxicity induced by oxygen radicals was examined in these cultures. The results were as follows : 1.Survival rate of cultured spinal motor neurons were remarkably decreased by MMC depending on different kinds of concentrations. 2.NR50 of MMC as 50μM. 3.Haeahwan water extract inhibited significantly the increase in LDH activities induced by MMC.

      • 梓木이 腦血流 및 血壓에 미치는 影響

        The purpose of this study is to measure the changes of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) and blood pressure (BP) in rats, following the intravenous injection of Catalpa Ovata Water Extract (COWE). The measurement was continually monitored by laser-doppler flowmeter (Transonic Instrument, USA) and pressure tranducer(Grass, USA) in anesthetized adult Sprague-Dawley rats through the data acquisition system composed of MacLab and Macintosh computer. The result of this experiment was as following : COWE increased the changes of rCBF and BP significantly. After pretreatment with propranolol and indomethacin, the changes of rCBF were inhibited significantly, but not by L-NNA and methylene blue. Also, after pretreatment with propranolol, the changes of BP were inhibited significantly, but not by L-NNA, methylene blue and indomethacin. According to above result, it is considered that Catalpa Ovata increased the rCBF and BP, related to adrenergic β-receptor.

      • 한약재를 이용한 뇌신경전달물질 및 뇌신진대사에 관한 연구

        Acetylcholinesterase(AChE) is an enzyme which hydrolyses acetylcholine into choline and acetate. Glucose and Adenosine-5'-Triphosphate(ATP) are the primary energy source for the brain and therefore defects in glucose metabolism and the mitochondrial system can affect cognitive function. The fact that the level of acetylcholine(ACh), neurotransmitter, glucose and ATP, are found to be decreased in the brain of Alzheimer patients has lead us to focus on the inhibition of AChE for the developmental research of the Alzheimer's disease(AD) treatment. In this paper we describe the effects of herbal medicine 9908(滌痰化瘀湯加減) in vitro and in vivo. As herb 9908 concentraion increased, the Vmax values of AChE from Electric eel were decreased, which showed that the activity of AChE in vitro was decreased. Also herb 9908 inhibit AChE activity in vivo. When herb 9908 was orally administrated to rats, amount of glucose and ATP which are energy source in metabolism, increase in brain and blood of rats. These result are also interesting in their effects for AD treatment compare with comercial drugs such as Cognex and Aricept. Furthermore, when considering the toxic problems of the Cognex and the Aricept, these oriental medicines could be very valuable medicine for treatment of AD.       • 靈樞를 中心으로한 經絡·經穴의 診斷法 硏究

        This study investigated diagnostic skills that use meridian points and meridian which shows the signs of illness. From the text of Yeong-Chu, we tried to find out the relationship with meridian(contain meridian point) and disease. The diagnosis with the meridian, we made a study of the relationship with multiple abscess, channel disease, so-saeng-byung. The diagnosis with the meridian point, we considered that the relationship with characteristic of each meridian point, disease and diagnosis.

      • 韓國産 石竹(패랭이꽃)科 植物에 關한 本草學的 硏究

        For the purpose of developing Korean Herbalogy with the plants of Caryophllaceae which grow wild and is planted in Korea, the these and writings on herbalogy, from literature of successive generation, have been thoroughly investigative and the results obtained were as follows: 1. There were totaled to 20 genera and 124 species in Korea and among them midical plants are 11 genera, 30 species, some 24% in total. 2. According to the oriental names which can be used for medical purpose, the medical plantss belonging to the Caryphllaceae family were classified as Herba 11, Radix 7, Foilum 2, Semen, Flos, Rhlzoma 1 each. 3. According to sum of 124 species in Caryophllaceae family, they were classified into Cerastium genera 18, Dianthus gemera 16, Pseudos tellaria genera, Lychnis genera, Stellaria genera 12 each, Melandry um genera 11, Silene genera 10, Minuaria genera 8, Gypsophila genera, Sagina genera 5 each, Arenaria genera, Cucubalus genera 3 each, Spergual genera, Vaccaria genera 2 each, Agorostema genera, Amnodenia genara, Moehringia genera, Myosoton genera, Honkenya genera 1 each. Thus it was noticed that Cerastium genera was main kind. 4. According to the number of species of the orgin plants about each chinese materia medicals, they were classified into HERBA DIANTHI 4, RADIX PSEUDOSTELLARIAE 3, SEMEN VACCARIAE 5, RADIX GYPSOPHILAE 4. 5. According to the properties and principal curative action, they were classfied into drugs for treating febrifugal and removing heat from blood, Diuretocs 6 each, Drugs for treating febrifugal and detoxicant 2, Drugs for invigorating blood, circuration and eliminating blood stasis 3, tonics 1, easing joint movement 1, stimulation of lactation 44. 6. According to nature and flavour of medical plants, they were classified into warmth, heat; each 3, cold, cool; 11 each, balance 3 and unidentifird 2. Thus it was noticed that cold and cool is the main in nature and flavour of medical plants. 7. Toxic drugs were none. From this results, It was revealed that the plants for medical purpose in Caryophllaceae was 24% of the whole, in which Herba was mostly abundunt. It is considered that may expriements and clinical approches must be continued to use Caryophllaceae plants widely.

      • 丹田과 下腹部 經穴과의 상관성 硏究

        This study investigate the correlation of Dan-Jeon and Meridian point in the lower abdomen. We considered that Dan-Jeon is not one meridian point of Lower Abdomen surface but a elastic and cubic round space of lower abdomen. And we considered that Dan-Jeon and meridian point in the lower abdomen has close relationship and similar function with characteristic of each meridian point, disease and diagnosis.

      • 五加皮의 效能에 대한 硏究

        The purpose of this study is to measure the changes of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) and blood pressure (BP) of Cortex Acanthopanacis in rats, and to determine the effect of Cortex Acanthopanacis on phenylephrine (PE) induced contraction of isolated rat thoracic aorts. The measurement was continually monitored by laser-doppler flowmeter (Transonic Instrument, USA) and pressure transducer (Grass, USA) in anesthetized adult Sprague-Dawley rats through the data acquisition system composed of MacLab and Macintosh computer. Contractile force was measured with force displacement transducer under 1.5 g loading tension. The result of this experiment was as following; 1. Cortex Acanthopanacis did not effect the changes of rCBF and blood pressure significantly. 2. Contractions evoked by phenylephrine were decreased significantly by Cortex Acanthopanacis 3. L-NNA, ODQ, atropine and indomethacin significantly altered the relaxation of Cortex Acanthopanacis. 4. Propranolol did not change the relaxation of Cortex Acanthopanacis. These results indicate that Cortex Acanthopanacis did not change the rCBF and BP, but Cortex Acanthopanacis can relax PE induced contraction of isolated rat thoracic aorta and that this increasing contraction related to endothelium and various mechanism.

      • 백혈병 세포주 HL-60에서 과루실(瓜蔞實)의 세포고사 유도 효과

        Many naturally occurring plant extracts are studied for their beneficial effects for health and particularly on cancer. Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, occurs in both normal and pathological conditions, including cancer. Dysregulation of apoptosis allows transformed cells to continually and uninhibitedly enter the cell cycle, thus perpetuating the sequence of mutation, genomic instability and, finally, oncogenesis. To investigate the apoptosis-Inducing effect of the extract of Fructus Trichosanthis (EFT) on leukemic HL-60 cells and its mechanism, HL-60 cells in vitro in culture medium were given different doses of the extract. The inhibitory rate of cells were measured by microculture tetrazolium assay, cell apoptotic rate was detected by flow cytometry, morphology of cell apoptosis was observed by DAPI fluorescence staining, and the activations of caspases and PARP were detected using Western blotting analysis. The extract could activate the caspase-3 and caspase-8, induce PARP cleavage, inhibit growth of HL-60 cells, and cause apoptosis significantly. The suppression was in dose-dependent manner. Marked morphological changes of cell apoptosis including condensation of chromatin and nuclear fragmentation were observed clearly by DAPI fluorescence staining especially. These results will provide strong laboratory evidence of EFT for clinical treatment of acute leukemia.
