        재북(월북) 작가 전무길(全武吉)과 식민지 시기 언론·문화 네트워크

        김미지(Kim, Miji) 구보학회 2021 구보학보 Vol.- No.29

Jeon Mu-gil(1905~?), a writer from Hwanghae-do who actively worked as a novelist, reporter, and magazine editor in the 1920s and 30s, was a long-forgotten name, like numerous writers who chose(went to) North Korea after the 1945 liberation. This study aims to draw a human network surrounding Jeon Mu-gil while tracking his life and whereabouts. While mainly working as a socialist educator in Anak province, he was arrested twice for ‘violation of security’, and also actively continued his writing in various media in Gyeongseong. This study examined especially the writers of the magazine Dai cho(大潮), which he founded, and found that he actively utilized the human network in the Hwanghae-do(and northwest regions) and also contributed to the expansion of the network. This study also revealed that his grandfather was Jeon Bong-hoon, the “reformed county governor” who also had ties with Kim Gu, and he did not give up his mission to continue his grandfather’s tasks. Jeon Mu-gil’s life was that of a socialist on the periphery outside the KAPF and of “self-aware landlord.” Examining how his life and choice was refracted and frustrated in the process of liberation and national division could also have implications for contemplating the unified history of literature.

Perceived Recovery Time from Common Cold as a Possible Indicator of Physical Resilience

        Yoonki Kim,Chang Won Won,Sunyoung Kim,Byung Sung Kim,Miji Kim,Eunjin Jeong,Jisoo Yang,Hyona Lee 대한노인병학회 2021 Annals of geriatric medicine and research Vol.25 No.3

Background: Resilience refers to the ability to recover function after encounter with stressors. While psychological resilience refers to the ability to cope with psychological stress, physical resilience refers to functional restoration after biomedical challenges. However, there is no gold standard to assess physical resilience. Accordingly, we explored whether the perceived recovery time from common cold could be used to represent physical resilience. Methods: We analyzed data of individuals aged 72–86 years who had participated in the Korean Frailty and Aging Cohort Study in 2019. Among the 1,455 survey participants, 594 with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and missing data were excluded. The remaining 861 participants were divided into three groups according to the number of days required for recovery from common cold (Group 1, 1–4 days; Group 2, 5–7 days; and Group 3, ≥8 days). The relationship between recovery time and psychological resilience scale (Brief Resilience Scale [BRS]) score, physical frailty (Fried’s physical frailty phenotype and the Korean Frailty Index for Primary Care [KFI-PC]), and frailty outcome was investigated. Results: Group 3 comprised individuals more likely to be women, sleep less, be less physically less active, fall more often, and have a low EuroQol visual analogue scale score. BRS scores differed significantly among the three groups (Group 1, 13.29; Group 2, 14.32; Group 3, 15.22; p<0.001). In multivariate analysis, post-hoc analysis with the Bonferroni method revealed significant differences in BRS between Groups 1–2 and Groups 1–3. However, the KFI-PC and number of falls did not differ significantly. Conclusions: Longer days of recovery from cold were associated with worse BRS scores. However, neither frailty nor the number of falls was related.

      • The effects of the standardized extracts of Ginkgo biloba on steroidogenesis pathways and aromatase activity in H295R human adrenocortical carcinoma cells

Kim, Mijie,Park, Yong Joo,Ahn, Huiyeon,Moon, Byeonghak,Chung, Kyu Hyuck,Oh, Seung Min The Korean Society of Environmental Toxicology 2016 환경독성보건학회지 Vol.31 No.-

Objectives Aromatase inhibitors that block estrogen synthesis are a proven first-line hormonal therapy for postmenopausal breast cancer. Although it is known that standardized extract of Ginkgo biloba (EGb761) induces anti-carcinogenic effects like the aromatase inhibitors, the effects of EGb761 on steroidogenesis have not been studied yet. Therefore, the effects of EGb761 on steroidogenesis and aromatase activity was studied using a H295R cell model, which was a good in vitro model to predict effects on human adrenal steroidogenesis. Methods Cortisol, aldosterone, testosterone, and $17{\beta}$-estradiol were evaluated in the H295R cells by competitive enzyme-linked immunospecific assay after exposure to EGb761. Real-time polymerase chain reaction were performed to evaluate effects on critical genes in steroid hormone production, specifically cytochrome P450 (CYP11/ 17/19/21) and the hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases ($3{\beta}$-HSD2 and $17{\beta}$-HSD1/4). Finally, aromatase activities were measured with a tritiated water-release assay and by western blotting analysis. Results H295R cells exposed to EGb761 (10 and $100{\mu}g/mL$) showed a significant decrease in $17{\beta}$-estradiol and testosterone, but no change in aldosterone or cortisol. Genes (CYP19 and $17{\beta}$-HSD1) related to the estrogen steroidogenesis were significantly decreased by EGb761. EGb761 treatment of H295R cells resulted in a significant decrease of aromatase activity as measured by the direct and indirect assays. The coding sequence/Exon PII of CYP19 gene transcript and protein level of CYP19 were significantly decreased by EGb761. Conclusions These results suggest that EGb761 could regulate steroidogenesis-related genes such as CYP19 and $17{\beta}$-HSD1, and lead to a decrease in $17{\beta}$-estradiol and testosterone. The present study provides good information on potential therapeutic effects of EGb761 on estrogen dependent breast cancer.

Test-retest Reliability and Sensitivity to Change of a New Fall Risk Assessment System: A Pilot Study

Miji Kim,김선영,Chang Won Won 대한노인병학회 2018 Annals of geriatric medicine and research Vol.22 No.2

Background: The new fall risk assessment (FRA) system is a composite and comprehen-sive assessment tool developed to predict the risk of falls. The aim of this pilot study was to examine the new FRA system’s test-retest reliability and sensitivity to change in commu-nity-dwelling older adults. Methods: This was an observational study with a test-retest de-sign and an 8-week fall prevention exercise program. A sample of 28 community-dwelling older adults with a mean age of 73.0 years (range, 65–80 years) participated in the study. The new FRA system was administered twice within a 7-day period for test-retest reliability expressed as intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and standard error of measurement (SEM) assessment. Eighteen subjects of them completed the 8-week fall prevention exer-cise intervention to evaluate the new FRA system’s sensitivity to change. Results: In the evaluation of interrater reliability for the new FRA system, the ICC (95% confidence inter-val) of the total score was 0.77 (0.47–0.98), with good reliability. The SEM was 11.61 for the total FRA score. A good to excellent reliability was observed, with ICC levels of 0.73 to 0.91 for the 4 composite scores of the new FRA system. Following the 8-week exercise intervention, the mean total FRA score (effect size, 0.58) significantly increased (p=0.028). Conclusion: The new FRA system has generally moderate to excellent interrater reliability and reliable sensitivity to change in community-dwelling older adults. Our findings provide support for the reliability of the new FRA system in healthy older adults without a fall his-tory. (Ann Geriatr Med Res 2018;22:80-87)
