Aim: We conducted the present study to assess health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among bone cancer patients after surgical treatment in one large teaching hospitals in China, and assess the risk factors for improving the physical or mental HRQoL. Methods: 344 eligible adult patients who were admitted to the hospital with malignant bone tumors during the period of Jun. 2008 to Dec. 2011, and a reference group with 361 health cases was recruited in the same hospital during the same period. All 344 patients were followed up for one year. The HRQoL before treatment and after one year was evaluated with the Medical Outcome Short Form 36 (SF-36). Results: All 8 domains of HRQoL had the lowest scores greatly improved over the first year after discharge. However, the patients still had significantly lower scores in every domain than the reference group one year after discharge. Age and type of surgery were associated with HRQoL in the mental domain. Conclusion: The HRQoL of patients with malignant bone tumors greatly improved one year after the treatment. This study also highlighted the utility of HRQoL assessment for prognostic evaluation of patients after surgical treatment for bone cancer.

The exact load measurements for the mechanical parts of wind turbine are important step both for evaluation of specific wind turbine design and for a certification process. A wind turbine monitoring system is essential equipment for mechanical load analysis of a wind turbine. This monitoring system is based on IEC 61400-13 and strain gage are used to measure a mechanical load of wind turbine. Also this system monitors signals from a meteorological mast. The measured signals which are sampled at 200 Hz are automatically saved on a data file in the unit of ten minutes. A detail explanation for the developed wind turbine monitoring system is presented in this study.

From 2020, Korean Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency has reset the withdrawal time (WT) for veterinary drugs typically used in livestock in preparation for the introduction of positive list system (PLS) program in 2024. This study was conducted to reset the MRL for amprolium (APL) in broiler chickens as a part of PLS program introduction. Forty-eight healthy Ross broiler chickens were orally administered with APL at the concentration of 60 mg/L (APL-1, n=24) for 14 days and 240 mg/L (APL-2, n=24) for 7 days through drinking water, respectively. After the drug treatment, tissue samples were collected from six broiler chickens at 0, 1, 3 and 5 days, respectively. Residual APL concentrations in poultry tissues were determined using LC-MS/MS. Correlation coefficient (0.99 >), the limits quantification (LOQ, 0.3~5.0 μg/kg), recoveries (81.5~112.4%), and coefficient of variations (<15.5%) were satisfied the validation criteria of Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. In APL-1, APL in all tissues except for kidney was detected less than LOQ at 3 days after drug treatment. In APL-2, APL in liver and kidney was detected more than LOQ at 5 days after treatment. According to the European Medicines Agency’s guideline on determination of withdrawal periods, withdrawal periods of APL-1 and APL-2 in poultry tissues were established to 3 and 2 days, respectively. In conclusion, the developed analytical method is sensitive and reliable for detecting APL in poultry tissues. The estimated WT of APL in poultry tissues is longer than the current WT recommendation of 2 days for APL in broiler chickens.

ZnO and Pd-doped ZnO photocatalysts with different molar ratio of Pd/Zn (1/100, 2/100, 3/100 and 4/100) were prepared by a solegel method. The photocatalysts prepared were characterized by BET surface area, X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV/vis diffuse reflectance (DRS) and surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS), respectively. The results show that doping Pd into ZnO decreases the BET surface area. The XRD spectra of the Pd-doped ZnO catalysts calcined at 773 K show only the characteristic peaks of wurtzite-type. Doping Pd into ZnO increases the absorbance of ZnO in visible region and enhances the photoinduced charge separation rate. The photocatalytic activity of Pd-doped ZnO photocatalysts for decolorization of methyl orange (MO) solution was evaluated, of all the photocatalysts prepared, the Pddoped ZnO with 3/100 possesses the best photocatalytic activity. The results of further experiments show that increased adsorption ability of light and high separation rate of photoinduced charge carriers all play an important role in promotion of photocatalytic activity of Pd-doped ZnO nanostructure.

This paper describes in detail the uncertainties due to several factors that may affect the direction vector of a reactor neutrino in a liquid scintillation detector. The reactor neutrino direction vector was reconstructed through a charge weighting method. The paper simulates the response of gadolinium-loaded, liquid scintillator detector to reactor electron anti-neutrinos. The reaction is based on neutrino capture on hydro-genic protons of inverse beta decay process in the scintillator. A Cherenkov radiation detector can reconstruct the directional information of incident neutrinos relatively well, compared to the liquid scintillation detector. Statistics, spatial resolution, neutrino energy, and multi-reactor and multi-detectors are examined by using Monte Carlo simulation based on the cylindrical liquid scintillating detector model. Furthermore, this simulated model is detailed down to the optical processes, and the source of reactor fuel composition. Finally, one of the main goals is to provide the potential of the detector to measure the origin direction of the incident neutrino. Furthermore, our intention is to help understanding of various uncertainties of the neutrino directionality study for the future massive liquid scintillating neutrino detectors.
Optimal Tracking Performance of NCSs with Time-delay and Encoding-decoding Constraints
Jun-Wei Hu,Xi-Sheng Zhan,Jie Wu,Huai-Cheng Yan 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2020 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.18 No.4
In this paper, the tracking performance of networked control systems (NCSs) under energy constraints with time-delay and encoding-decoding is studied. Through spectral factorization and partial decomposition techniques, we can obtain the explicit representation of the optimal performance. It is shown that the optimal performance is affected by non minimum phase (NMP) zeros, unstable poles and other multiple communication constraints such as time-delay, encoding-decoding and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). At the same time, the obtained result shows that a two-parameter compensator is superior to a one-parameter compensator. In addition, it is found that time-delay, encoding-decoding and AWGN affected the tracking capability of NCSs. Finally, an example is given for verifying the correctness of the conclusions.

Series of waterborne polyurethanes (WPUs) containing poly(tetra methylene glycol) (PTMG), 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (HMDI), 2,2-dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA), 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol (TMPD), isosorbide (ISO) and ethylenediamine (EDA) were synthesized. The effects of ISO on the structure and properties of WPUs were studied by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetry (TG), mechanical test, chemical resistance and hardness test. The deconvolution analysis of FTIR of WPUs revealed that the hydrogen bond interaction in the WPUs increased with the increase of ISO content. Furthermore, the degree of microphase separation was increased with the increase of hydrogen bond interaction, which was confirmed by DSC, XRD and DMTA test. The results demonstrated that the addition of ISO can increase the hydrogen bond interaction between the hard and hard segments in WPUs, which improved the mechanical properties of the WPU films. The highest tensile strength was obtained of 59.67 MPa when the content of isosorbide was 10.35 wt%. Moreover, the ISO was helpful to improve the chemical resistance and hardness of the coatings by the comprehensive performance analysis.

Jun-Ho Kim,Jeong-Hwa Kim,Young-Hoan Kim,Kwang-Hyun Cho,Sang Yoon Nam,Hu-Jang Lee,Beom Jun Lee 한국예방수의학회 2018 예방수의학회지 Vol.42 No.4
Clostridium perfringens (C. perfringens) may cause diarrhea and enterotoxemia in adult and young livestock, leading to problems in the production and management of farms. Four hundred fecal samples were collected from 25 goat farms located in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province in the Republic of Korea. Sixteen C. perfringens strains were isolates from fecal samples, and the isolates were identified as type A (n=11) and type D (n=5). Additionally, α- and ε-toxin genes were detected in 16 and 5 strains by PCR, respectively, and the enterotoxin gene was presented in 2 strains. The antibiotic susceptibility test was performed using the disk diffusion method and E-test method. In the disk diffusion method, ampicillin (n=16) and chloramphenicol (n=15) were highly susceptible to 16 C. perfringens isolates. In the E-test method, ampicillin, amoxicillin, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid and meropenem were susceptible to more than 14 of 16 C. perfringens isolates. This study indicates that administration of antibiotics such as ampicillin, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid and meropenem can prevent and treat C. perfringens infections in goats.
