Producing a Semi-automatic Profile Measuring Program (SPMP) in Body Silhouette for Elderly Women
Oh, HeeKyung,Maruta, Naomi,Nagashima, Shinobu,Hirokawa, Taeko The Society of Fashion and Textile Industry 2012 한국의류산업학회지 Vol.14 No.6
This study presents a new method called the SPMP (Semi-automatic profile measuring program) to efficiently measure body shape in elderly women. SPMP can automatically measure the angle of axis (19 items), surface (17 items), lengths (14 items), heights (16 items), widths (13 items), and depth (6 items). In total these 85 items are automatically measured very quickly, accurately, and easily after manually marking an initial 36 points. The utility of SPMP was evaluated using several tests. When SPMP measuring results were compared with manual methods (using a ruler and protractor) in thirteen elderly women using a paired t-test, there was no significant difference found between them. Furthermore, when measurements from SPMP were compared with actual measurement results in selected items from seven elderly women's measurements, smaller mean differences were found than those defined by ISO 20685, with the exception of the abdominal area which moves easily with breathing. Seven independent measurements of a single elderly woman were made by seven students using SPMP, and the values of coefficient of variation were less than 5% for all but 8 items. Finally, this study analyzed the correlation of all 85 item measurements, and found that the angle from the upper chest to the neck towards the front in the axis curved forward as much as the axis angle from the thigh to the waist (r=-0.876, $^{**}p$ < 0.01) bent backwards in elderly women. This detailed analysis helps to understand age-related changes in body posture, and will be useful in future studies.

<P>A revised specification of ITER TF conductor was proposed as 'Option2' for the baseline design. The cabling pitches of early stages and the void fraction were adjusted in the consequence of previous R&D programs to improve the degradation of performance against cyclic current loadings in the magnetic field. To obtain the characteristics of the developed design, which are related to the effect of the electromagnetic load, the mechanical parameters and the contact resistances between components of cable were investigated employing a specially developed device of cryogenic press in the transverse direction for a short sample of the conductor cable. Through the measurements, the mechanical characteristics against the cyclic loads were discussed, as well as the effect on inter-strand resistances, according to the cable design.</P>

Recent statistics show that problems associated with human factors are found to be the most important causes of traffic accidents. Studies were conducted to identify the driver's risks related to human factors. However, existing studies were carried out from divert perspectives and covered only limited area of problematic situations. Therefore, a comprehensive analysis that integrated various aspects of human factors is required to identify problematic situations of driver. This study aimed to find driver's dangerous situations and specify the limitations and requirements related to them in terms of human factors. Our approach consists of following two steps; (1) collecting various factors that causes excessive cognitive workload and distraction of drivers through an intense literature survey and (2) deriving dangerous situations and analyzing the limitations and requirements for each situation. As a result, 262 factors from various literatures were categorized into four major categories; driver's physical and emotional state, competing between driving-related tasks, secondary task(s) while driving, and physical interference due to internal/external barriers. A total of 120 situations were derived by combining 262 factors with the context variables for driving. Furthermore, their limitations and requirements were analyzed. For each of the category, limitations and requirements showed different characteristics and patterns. Derived dangerous situations and corresponding limitations and requirements can be used when developing necessary functions for safe driving. In addition, the methodology in this study can be used to analyze situations caused from other dimensions such as comfort, fun, and entertainment.

This research examines the effect of perception of creating shared value (CSV) activity on the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of non-permanent (part-time) employees in order to understand the importance of CSV. In order to accomplish this study, 559 questionnaires were used for final analysis. SPSS 25.0 was used for statistical analysis. The analysis revealed that perception of corporate CSV activity had a positive effect on job satisfaction of non-permanent(part-time) employees. In particular, it had a positive effect on the relationships between the perception of CSV activity and organizational commitment, as well as organizational commitment and job satisfaction. The mediating effect of organizational commitment and the moderating effect of self-efficacy also had a positive effect. The implication of this study is that the perception of corporate CSV activity plays a crucial role in the current service landscape. Therefore, it is recommended that companies conduct a range of CSV activities and create an inclusive system and organizational culture that encourages active participation of non-permanent employees.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Eosinophilia have been implicated in a broad range of diseases, most notably allergic conditions (e.g. asthma, rhinitis and atopic dermatitis) and inflammatory diseases. These diseases are characterized by an accumulation of eosinophils in the affected tissue. Defining the mechanisms that control the recruitment of eosinophil is fundamental to understanding how these diseases progress and identifying a novel target for drug therapy. Accordingly, this study was conducted to evaluate the regulatory effect of Schizandrae Fructus (SF) on the expression of eotaxin, an eosinophil-specific chemokine released in respiratory epithelium following allergic stimulation, as well as its effects on eosinophil migration.</P><P>To accomplish this, human epithelial lung cells (A549 cell) were stimulated with a combination of TNF-α (100ng/ml) and IL-4 (100ng/ml) for 24h. The cells were then restimulated with TNF-α (100ng/ml) and IL-1β (10ng/ml) to induce the expression of chemokines and adhesion molecules involved in eosinophil chemotaxis for another 24h. Next, the samples were treated with various concentrations of Schizandrae Fructus (SF) (1, 10, 100, 1000μg/ml) or one of the major constituents of SF, schizandrin (0.1, 1, 10, 100μg/ml), after which following inhibition effect assay was performed triplicates in three independence.</P><P>The levels of eotaxin in secreted proteins were suppressed significantly by SF (100 and 1000μg/ml, <I>p</I><0.01) and schizandrin (10 and 100μg/ml, <I>p</I><0.01). In addition, SF (1, 10, 100 and 1000μg/ml) decreased mRNA expression levels in A549 cells significantly (<I>p</I><0.01). Eosinophil recruitment to lung epithelial cells was also reduced by SF, which indicates that eotaxin plays a role in eosinophil recruitment. Furthermore, treatment with SF suppressed the expression of another chemokine, IL-8 (0.1 and 1μg/ml SF, <I>p</I><0.01), as well as intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (10 and 100μg/ml SF, <I>p</I><0.01) and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (0.1 and 1μg/ml SF, <I>p</I><0.05), which are all related to eosinophil migration. Taken together, these findings indicate that SF may be a desirable medicinal plant for the treatment of allergic diseases.</P>
