Sinonasal teratocarcinosarcoma treated with surgery followed by volumetric modulated radiotherapy: a case report with review of literature

        Sarthak Tandon,Munish Gairola,Parveen Ahlawat,Kanika Sharma,Soumitra Barik,Nishtha Sachdeva,Sunil Pasricha,Apeksha Shenoy 대한방사선종양학회 2018 Radiation Oncology Journal Vol.36 No.4

Surgical excision along with use of postoperative radiotherapy forms an integral management of sinonasal teratocarcinosarcoma (SNTCS). However, given the rarity of the tumor, no standardised guidelines, dose, technique and target delineation exist especially in the era of modern radiation delivery techniques. This is a case of 55-year-old male diagnosed as SNTCS treated with radical ethmoidectomy followed by volumetric modulated radiotherapy, showing good local control and acceptable toxicity profile.

      • 3D Reconstruction of Structures using Spherical Cameras with Small Motion

        Sarthak Pathak,Alessandro Moro,Hiromitsu Fujii,Atsushi Yamashita,Hajime Asama 제어로봇시스템학회 2016 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.10

In this research, a method for dense 3D reconstruction of structures from small motion of a spherical camera is proposed. Spherical cameras can capture information from all directions enabling measurement of the entire surrounding structure at once. The proposed technique uses two spherical images clicked at slightly displaced positions near the structure, followed by a combination of feature-point matching and dense optical flow. Feature-point matching between two images alone is usually not accurate to give a dense point cloud because of outliers. Moreover, calculation of the epipolar direction with feature point matching is susceptible to noise with small displacements. However, spherical cameras have unique parallax properties allowing use of dense, global information. Taking advantage of this, the global, dense optical flow field is used. The epipolar geometry is densely optimized based on the optical flow field for an accurate 3D reconstruction. A possible use of this research could be to measure large infrastructures (bridges, tunnels, etc.) with minimal robot motion.

She Kicks: The State of Competitive Balance in the Top Five Women’s Football Leagues in Europe

Sarthak Mondal 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Journal of Global Sport Management Vol.8 No.1

Competitive balance remains a core component of sport economics literature and an important management consideration for league organisers. This paper analyses competitive balance in the 'top five' women's football leagues in Europe longitudinally between 1997/98 and 2018/19. Using recognised measures of league concentration and dominance, the results display a mixed picture in respect of competitive balance across the five major women's leagues in European football. The women's football industry has seen positive growth during the last ten years while competitive balance in most of the leagues examined has remained relatively stable. Some significant differences were detected in the levels of concentration between leagues. There was also some variation in terms of some leagues being dominated by a fewer number of teams. However, these two measures of competitive balance (concentration and dominance) were not necessarily correlated with each other. In a broader governance context, questions remain over the potential for further growth in the women's game as leagues are moving towards commercialisation of TV rights from 2021 to 2022.

Stress Fracture of the Femoral Shaft in Paget’s Disease of Bone: A Case Report

        Sarthak Nepal,Atthakorn Jarusriwanna,Aasis Unnanuntana 대한골대사학회 2021 대한골대사학회지 Vol.28 No.2

Paget’s disease of bone (PDB) is a progressive bone disorder characterized by increased osteoclast-mediated bone resorption and abnormal bone formation. Incomplete atypical femoral fracture, appearing radiographically as a stress fracture at the lateral aspect of the femur, is an uncommon low-trauma fracture frequently seen in association with long-term bisphosphonate therapy. We describe the case of a 61-year-old female patient with PDB who developed a stress fracture at the lateral femoral cortex after 5 doses of intravenous bisphosphonate. The conservative treatment plan included discontinuation of bisphosphonate, a continuation of calcium and vitamin D supplementation, and limited weight-bearing for 3 months. The patient’s pain level gradually improved after switching to the new treatment plan. At the latest follow-up, approximately 5 years after the initiation of conservative treatment, the patient remained pain-free, and her PDB was well-controlled. However, the fracture line was still visible on the most recent radiograph. Although it remains unclear whether a stress fracture at the lateral femoral cortex occurred due to bisphosphonate therapy or PDB, this case highlights the importance of careful evaluation of any lesion that appears in PDB patients receiving bisphosphonate therapy.

Department of Geography, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India

        Sarthak Agarwal,K. S. Rajan 대한공간정보학회 2016 Spatial Information Research Vol.24 No.6

Relational databases have been around for a long time, and Spatial databases have exploited this feature for close to two decades. The recent past has seen the development of NoSQL non-relational databases, which are now being adopted for spatial object storage and handling too. Moreover, this is gaining ground in the context of increased shift towards Geospatial Web Services on both the Web and mobile platforms especially in the user-centric services, where there is a need to improve the query response time. This paper attempts to evaluate the performance of an existing NoSQL database ‘MongoDB’ with its inbuilt spatial functions with that of an SQL database with spatial extension ‘PostGIS’ for two fundamental spatial problems—line intersection and point containment problem, across a range of datasets, with varying feature counts. Given these results, NoSQL databases may be better suited for simultaneous multiple-user query systems including Web-GIS and mobile-GIS. Further studies are required to understand the full potential of NoSQL databases across various geometries and spatial query types.

Rising Stars: Competitive Balance in Five Asian Football Leagues

        Daniel Plumley,Sarthak Mondal,Rob Wilson,Girish Ramchandani 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Journal of Global Sport Management Vol.8 No.1

Competitive balance (CB) remains a core component of sport eco- nomics literature and an important management consideration for league organisers. This paper analyses CB in the ‘big five’ Asian football leagues longitudinally between 1996/97 and 2017/ 18. Using recognised measures of league concentration and dom- inance, the results display a mixed picture in respect of CB across the five major leagues in Asian football. The Asian football market has seen positive growth during the last two decades while CB in most of the leagues examined has remained relatively stable. Lithotomy versus prone position for perianal surgery: a randomized controlled trial

        Pankaj Kumar,Tushar S Ghosh,Siddhant Sarthak,Prakash Kumar Sasmal 대한대장항문학회 2022 Annals of Coloproctolgy Vol.38 No.2

Purpose: Studies objectively comparing lithotomy and prone positions regarding surgeon comfort, ergonomics, patient comfort, and position related complications are scarce. Methods: The patients posted for surgery of either fistula in ano, hemorrhoids, or were included in this study. Subjective Mental Effort Questionnaire (SMEQ) and Local Experienced Discomfort (LED) scale were used to score the level of mental and physical stress among the operating surgeon, assistants, and the scrub nurse. Other parameters studied were the exposure of the operative site, patient comfort level, and position-related complications. Results: Thirty patients were operated in each position. Mean±standard deviation of jackknife prone vs. lithotomy surgeon SMEQ score (15.6±10.4 vs. 107.0±11.5, P<0.05) and LED score (1.8±1.5 vs. 6.7±0.5, P<0.05) were found to be statistically significant. Prone vs. lithotomy assistant SMEQ score (29.1±13.1 vs. 100.6±8.7, P<0.05) and LED score (4.6±1.1 vs. 7.4±0.8, P<0.05) were also found to be statistically significant. SMEQ (10.0±0.0 vs. 20.6±2.5, P<0.05) and LED scores (1.1±0.3 vs. 3.3±0.5, P<0.05) of scrub nurses and LED scores (2.5±0.5 vs. 6.3±0.7, P<0.05) of patients were also statistically significant. Exposure of the operative site was significantly better in the prone position (5.0 vs. 2.1, P<0.05). Conclusion: Significantly better SMEQ, LED, and exposure score suggests the superiority of jackknife prone position over the lithotomy in terms of significantly less mental and physical stress to the operating surgeon, assistant, and scrub nurse; better ergonomics, and excellent exposure.

      • Network-based Public Key Method for Steganography under RSA Cryptographic Assumptions

        Network-based Public Key Metho,Sarthak Parui,Ronnie Caytiles,Yvette Gelogo,Seung-ji Choi,Tai-hoon Kim 한국정보기술학회 2011 Proceedings of KIIT Conference Vol.2011 No.5

Steganography is the science of hiding information. Whereas the goal of cryptography is to make data unreadable by a third party, the goal of steganography is to hide the data from a third party. Briefly stated, steganography is the term applied to any number of processes that will hide a message within an object, where the hidden message will not be apparent to an observer. The original steganographic applications used “null ciphers”, or clear text. A null cipher conveys that the message has not been encrypted in any way, whether it is using basic character shifting, substitution or advanced modern day encryption algorithm. So, the message is often in plain view but for a reason can either not be detected as being present or cannot be seen once detected. As is common with cryptography, steganography has its roots in military and government applications and has advanced in ingenuity and complexity. In this paper, Network Based Public Key Method for Steganography is proposed under RSA cryptographic assumptions.
