Patterns of Tobacco Consumption among Indian Men with Schizophrenia Compared to Their Male Siblings

        Saurabh Vatss,Harpreet Mehar,Triptish Bhatia,Jan Richard,Ruben C Gur,Raquel E Gur,Vishwajit L. Nimgaonkar,Smita N. Deshpande 대한신경정신의학회 2012 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.9 No.3

Objective-Tobacco consumption among patients with schizophrenia has been investigated extensively in western countries, but there is a dearth of studies in India, where socio-economic and cultural variables are different. This study aims to investigate the patterns of tobacco consumption among schizophrenia patients compared with their non-psychotic siblings. Methods-Consenting, successive male outpatients diagnosed with schizophrenia (n=100, DSM-IV criteria), and their non-psychotic brothers (n=100) were compared. Following a structured diagnostic interview, detailed information about tobacco consumption (including smokeless tobacco) was obtained using the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence for smoked tobacco, and FTND-smokeless tobacco. The University of Pennsylvania Computerized Neurocognitive battery (CNB) was administered to a sub-group of patients (n=48). Results-Schizophrenia patients initiated tobacco use at a significantly earlier age than their brothers, but there was no significant difference with regard to type, quantity or frequency of tobacco use (smoke or smokeless varieties). Patients who consumed tobacco had signi-ficantly higher positive symptom scores compared with non-users (p=0.043). There were no significant differences between nicotine dependent and non-dependent patients with regard to CNB domains except attention. Conclusion-Patterns of tobacco consumption were similar among schizophrenia patients and their non-psychotic brothers. Tobacco use was associated with increased positive symptom scores, but there were no significant differences in cognitive measures among nicotine dependent and non-dependent patients.

An Overview on Taxol Production Technology and Its Applications as Anticancer Agent

        Aparajita Sharma,BHATIA SHASHI KANT,Aditya Banyal,Ishita Chanana,Anil Kumar,Duni Chand,Saurabh Kulshrestha,Pradeep Kumar 한국생물공학회 2022 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.27 No.5

Cancer is undeniably a major health risk factor that is growing rapidly globally despite promising medicinal and pharmaceutical development. Treatment of cancer remains an issue due to financial constrains in most of the developing countries. The majority of todayʼs medicines are derived from medicinal plants, as we all know. Taxol is such a plant-based chemotherapeutic agent which has blown the anticancer research field. The extinction of Taxus spp., which is the main natural source of taxol synthesis, required the development of novel alternative approaches in the oncology field. Many novel discoveries have been in trend in which endophytic microbial fermentation process is more focused as this area is cost-efficacious, less time consumable, and eco-friendly. Endophytes are one of another alternative approach for the taxol production, preserving the natural resources of Taxus plants worldwide. Endophytic microorganisms can be exploited in the taxol industry because most of the endophytic microbes have yet to be explored for the eco-friendly and economical production of this wonder drug. The aim of this review article is to cover everything from the discovery of taxol through the development of new natural resource-based biotechnology techniques. Furthermore, the current review has emphasised the use of taxol in fields other than anti-cancer properties, as well as pointing to some future opportunities.

      • Study & Analysis of Role of Li-fi in Future

        Sambhav Gupta,Sarthak Gupta,Shashank Pandey,Saurabh Ranjan,Satyam Goel,Saurabh Bhatia 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.10 No.2

In this hi-tech world, privacy is most important issue. Has anyone ever imagined why this problem arises? In the field of correspondence media or portable correspondence, web association is a spine of data and correspondence innovation which gives numerous administrations to client to these applications we need quick and headway of Internet integration innovation and vast range of channels[1]. Internet access speed or whether it is about downloading files, internet speed is big issue. Why not take a step further to resolve this problem? The answer to our problems is 'li-fi'. Have you ever wondered a city where internet access is wireless and without any interruption? Like other queries science has an answer to these questions also which is LIFI. LIFI is the new future. From sharing data to accessing it, can be done for laptops, smart phones, and tablets through transmitting light from LED bulb installed within the room. And for the security, if you can't see the light, you can't access the data[2].

Colitis and Crohn’s Foundation (India) consensus statements on use of 5-aminosalicylic acid in inflammatory bowel disease

( Ajit Sood ),( Vineet Ahuja ),( Vandana Midha ),( Saroj Kant Sinha ),( C. Ganesh Pai ),( Saurabh Kedia ),( Varun Mehta ),( Sawan Bopanna ),( Philip Abraham ),( Rupa Banerjee ),( Shobna Bhatia ),( Kar 대한장연구학회 2020 Intestinal Research Vol.18 No.4

Despite several recent advances in therapy in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) therapy has retained its place especially in ulcerative colitis. This consensus on 5-ASA is obtained through a modified Delphi process, and includes guiding statements and recommendations based on literature evidence (randomized trials, and observational studies), clinical practice, and expert opinion on use of 5-ASA in IBD by Indian gastroenterologists. The aim is to aid practitioners in selecting appropriate treatment strategies and facilitate optimal use of 5-ASA in patients with IBD. (Intest Res 2020;18:355-378)
